Living in our busy modern world, we can often find ourselves constantly hustling to keep up with the times, in hopes that one day we can become financially successful. However, this overvaluation of being "productive" has produced some nasty results, many of which have been hidden from plain sight. "Toxic productivity culture" and "burnout at work" have been growing mainstream themes as people begin to feel the deteriorating effects of this lifestyle. But, I dare say, the effects are worse for the believer, for Christ said, "you cannot serve two masters." Careful, Christian, that your pilgrimage isn't truncated by your career.
So what do we do? In this video, we will be discussing these effects, redefining success, and offering you some effective alternatives.

What are some other effects you have seen come out of "hustle culture?" Are there any points you disagree with? Let me know down below! (P.S. Thanks for being patient with the couple random audio glitches in the past few vids. Not sure what's going on with my editor, but hopefully I'll find a fix to it soon :))

Exactly, all the way. 💯👍💯 My grandmother told me something important, just weeks before she went to the Lord: Kenneth, if you don't see yourself in the mirror when you brush your teeth, you're living too fast and will burn out before me. And you know what Chase.... I brushed my teeth while running around in the house to do other things too. I didn't stand in front of the bathroom mirror when I brushed my teeth.... And how did grandma know this? Her close acquaintance with Yeshua the Lord. And the Lord knows all things.

Ah, she sounds like she was a godly and wise woman. It's always such a blessing to look back on people who impacted us in a positive way. Praise Yahweh for His mercy!

I really appreciate the ministry of Redeeming Productivity with Reagan Rose. He always puts God's glory first above all else, which puts all his suggestions in their right place.

Thank you for this. I am grateful for the reminder that just because life isn't hustling and bustling all of the time by no means, means we need to go out and search for more to do. The key is to be present in the season you are in, and if that happens to be a slower season of life, enjoy it. I hope that this channel is able to reach more people, because we are being bomarded with what the society pushes and deems as important, and because of that, they are staying busy, staying distracted and not able to enjoy the life that they work so hard for.

"...staying distracted and not able to enjoy the life that they work so hard for." That's exactly right!

Yeah being productive for productivities sake is a trap I fell into for some time. I was working out like a maniac, studying things i didnt even have an intrest in, and taking on hobbies i also had little interest in. All in the pursuit of being "the best version of myself," so that I could reintroduce myself back into society as the accompmished, and talented individual. But then maybe half way through the process, I realized the bigger problem to be fixed was simply my insecurities, and my desire for approval from everyone but myself. You will never reach the "best version of yourself," imo. Creating an idealized version of yourself that exists only so far as your accomplishments do, is just... sad. I agree that you should pursue a lot of the less traditional productivity tasks, most imoprtantly, strengthening your existing relationships. Socializing in an hinest and respectful way will open so many doors you didnt know existed. Wheras putting on 50Ibs of muscle will just make you look jacked and impress the boys. Dont get me wrong, weight training is awesome, but not for the purpose of building some idealized version of yourself. Hobbies in general are great, and you should try new and chellenging things, but dont just do it so you can feel productive. Do it cause you want to learn, and to gain life experience.

Exactly. Balance and a correct prioritization appear to be key when pursuing different avenues such as working out, building a company, starting a hobby, etc. We know that they have some value, but not enough to sacrifice things of infinite worth such as our relationship with Yahweh, our family, and really our entire lives to obtain it. It would be like selling a brick of gold for a brick of plastic. It just doesn't make sense. "...for bodily training is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. It is a trustworthy saying and deserving full acceptance. For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers." (1 Timothy 4:8-10) And like you said, pride is not a valid reason to pursue anything! Love the thinking. Thanks so much for the comment! Have a wonderful day, and keep burning the boxes. ;)

Excellent perspective. Very engaging content and I would rather have good content and less of it than a bunch of different videos with mediocre content! Great work!

I appreciate your view on things and I agree that we need to change how the digital world is taking over our lives. What I don't understand is that you are aware how youtube and other online media is keeping us in slavery, but then you decide that you want to make a living off youtube. I mean this with full respect. What is your view on this?

Wow, great question! I'll be gone most of the day today, but when I get back I'll make it a point to write out a thoughtful answer to this, LORD willing. Just wanted to let you know I've seen it! Thanks so much for the question, and your kindness in asking. May Yahweh be with you.

Like I said, this his an excellent question, and one I often thought about before I started my RU-vid channel, and this was the conclusion I came to: 1. RU-vid, unlike other forms of social media, is, in a large way, a learning platform, similar to Skillshare, but free. Its uses and means of engagement are very different from that of other social media platforms such as TikTok or Facebook that keep you scrolling for no other reason than to cure your boredom, as I’m sure you can agree. (This is with the exception of Shorts) 2. I make it a point to never post anything frivolous, meaningless, or ludicrous, which is unfortunately the bulk of media today. I desire value over views. If you watch my channel, my hope is that you come out of each video with long lasting value, as you would after taking a paid course or attending a class. It is meant to be an investment of time, not a waste of it. 3. I wanted to build a community of believers who desire to glorify Yahweh in all things. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find such people in my geographical location. My siblings were on RU-vid way before me, and I was able to see the communities they were building around their own channels. I realized that through them and the push of the platform, the LORD was using that which was meant for evil and making it into something good. I realized it’s not the platform in and of itself that is evil. No, rather it’s how we use it that results in evil. What are our intentions?

So, I made a channel in hopes that Yahweh would bring a God fearing community to sharpen and edify one another through this pilgrimage we call life, that the true Church be strengthened, and that She be unified more fully. And, dear friend, He is faithful. I have watched Him in this short time bring dear brothers and sisters together that otherwise would have never met this side of eternity. How I have been blessed by them. I pray it only continues to grow! (And yes, I do hope to go full time one day, as I love videography and content creation. But if that doesn’t come, I am content, as that was not the purpose.) Thanks again for the question, my friend. I hope my response made sense. If you have any other questions about what I have written, or anything for that matter, feel free to ask. :)
