I had a really nice and chill walk in this video, starting from Mabashi Station and ending at Shim-Matsudo Station. Lots of dogs, trains, a huge community garden, and a surprise Shinto shrine!

OMG thank you Sharla for taking the time to watch and comment! I'd love to see walking videos in your area! I do suggest using a stabilizer for steady footage with whatever camera you use (cellphone, GoPro, etc). The north, I'm sure, has so many cool hidden gems in all of those towns and villages! I'm so happy to see you back up in Morioka!!!! If you'd ever like to collab on an exploration video in random areas of Japan, please let me know. ^^

DM me any time if you're in the Tokyo area. Oh, and if you really do want to do some walking videos, I suggest the DJI Osmo Pocket. It's relatively cheap, shoots 4K at 60fps, and is perfect for these kinds of videos. I'm looking at getting one myself because my setup is from like 2014. hahaha So out-dated!

Thanks for watching, Cheron! There are so many gardens and farms around my area, that the supermarkets have a farmer's section and you can buy clean, organic, and fresh produce delivered to the store earlier that day. The price is also cheaper than regular produce, usually. ^^

The designers of public paths are very bike conscious---that middle section down the stairs for walking bikes is so smart 12:13... And love the link to google maps.

Yes, almost all overpass/underpass areas that I've been to have bicycle access somehow. Some have just a rail gutter on the side for your tires to roll on, which is very common in Korea. Others have full lanes like in this video that you saw. I'm glad people look at the Google Map link. I have to manually make those and sometimes it takes some time because I have to remember where I walked. hehehe

Vie De France?? Wow, that's a surprise. Didn't know they were in Japan! One of my favorite bakeries. I drive an hour south of Los Angeles to get lunch at Vie De France in Orange County. Great french bread and pastries! Just searched to discover that they are all over Japan. Amazing how few people are out and about in this area where you are walking. I love how clean and quiet it is. Feels like you are doing walking mediations! I like the busier areas as well with all the shops and restaurants, but wow, can't believe you stumbled upon that beautiful Shrine! In the middle of nowhere. Thanks Cory! Great job!

I wish I could visit Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto again. We got there just before sunset so we really didn't have much time to look around or hike up to the top. It's a majestic and serene place-that is, aside from the flock of tourists. As short as it was, I will never forget that experience. Cheers!

Your video show how vast an area Tokyo is. This area you walk around is one of the expanse you zoom past on the Narita express.👍

Yes, it's sort of near the line that the Narita Express / Skyliner train uses. This area is north of it by several kilometers. The Tokyo Metropolitan area is HUGE and very expansive. It encompasses several smaller cities, including Matsudo city, where I live. Thanks for watching, Brend!

I know, right? I wasn't expecting to see that bright red shrine at the end. So nice!! I'm sure it's all organic and pesticide free. It looked like it. Normally you can tell when stuff has been sprayed a dozen times, right? What's really cool at the supermarket is they have a section from local farmers, and it even has the farmer's portrait and info on the wall. The produce is much cheaper and super fresh! I love buying stuff from that section.

you know what i've noticed while watching your japan walking tours , i see alot of people holding hands.. how cute!! you rarely see people here in FL holding hands. I'm interested in seeing what a Japanese bookstore looks like, seeing that books store in your walking tour reminded me of persona 5. All those rules...were there any officers there to impliment them? Great walking tour! will you ever do like a bar review?

Oh? Were people holding hands? I didn't notice. hehe I'll try to film inside a bookstore in the future. Hopefully I can get away with filming in one. hehehe There is a giant "koban" (police box) right by that area where I read the sign. I think if someone was "touting" or anything else, people would maybe report it to the koban and some officers would come out to stop them. A bar review? I don't really like to "review" things, but I like to experience places. So yeah, maybe I'll do a bar video in the future. There are many tiny bars in Tokyo and they're fun atmospheres to be in. My only gripe is almost all of them allow indoor smoking, but that will be changing soon with a new law about to take effect before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics begin.

Aww, the dog may have damage but it looks very happy. I wonder what it is about back alleys and pathways through the city that is so fascinating? I still remember your video about Train Street. Again, thank you Cory for sharing the little bits and pieces of your life in Japan. The area you walked thru was quiet and serene despite the constant noise of the passing trains and train crossing guards. The temple was a beautiful ending to your walk. Can you explain why some people wear a mask? I always thought it was because of the "bird flu virus". Since you obviously love dogs, do you plan to adopt one? Also, I don't understand the negative comments on your video. If it's not your cup of tea don't watch it! It's your choice! 👌👍🎥🎬🙂

Thanks for taking the time out of your day (time is precious!) to watch my very long walking videos. hehehe People wear face masks for a number of reasons: to prevent catching/spreading germs, stop pollen/dust from triggering allergies, to cover up their face because they didn't put make up on, or to just remain anonymous. I wear a mask often only to remain anonymous. It helps with my anxiety when I'm out and about in crowded areas of Tokyo. I would love to adopt a dog but I can't say exactly when that will happen. Maybe after I'm a bit more settled in Japan. If I get a car, I'd love to go on road trips with my dog! ^^ Thank you for watching!!!

I enjoyed this so much, thanks, Cory! I wonder if you know why some cars had their windshield wipers raised (19:52, 25:53). I do that when we are getting a snow storm (to keep the wipers from getting frozen to the window), but obviously that’s not a worry in the summer in Tokyo. 😁 Do you have any idea? I also found the playing of the song at 5:30 every day to be so interesting. It’s a much more charming test than the blaring beeps we get for the tests of the US’s emergency broadcast network on TV and radio!

Yes, so many full electric vehicles here. Also lots of hybrids. I've seen many charging stations in front of people's homes where they park. I love how quiet the streets are because of how many electric cars are driving around.

I love it. Another great walking vid, yay! Here's a dumb question for the day: Is the air quality really bad? Is that why so many people wear face masks? I don't see anyone replying on what kind of car that was with the "N" emblem.

hahaha No question is a dumb question. Always ask questions! ^^ That's my philosophy. Question everything! The air quality is fine here, much cleaner than Seoul or Hanoi by a lot. But, there is still air pollution, of course, over the Tokyo area. It's just not as bad as other cities around the world. People wear face masks for a number of reasons: they have a cold and don't want to spread it, they don't want to catch a cold from other people, to prevent dust/pollen from triggering allergies, and to cover up their face. That last one is a big one. People wear masks to remain anonymous or hide the fact they aren't wearing make up or maybe they have a scar and are self-conscious about it. I wear a mask often to remain anonymous.

Yeah, there were only some at the very end of this video. In my other walking videos, there were some throughout the walk. I hear crows all the time, there's a huge group of them that live in the forest area just next to my apartment building. As I type this, I can hear them. lol

Yes, Japan has been using bicycles for a very long time. Small cars are affordable, but parking is expensive, especially in urban areas. Bicycles are just so much easier and have no impact on the environment. ^^

You're welcome, Chris. ^^ Yes, it is fairly easy as there are many signs in English while commuting around. There are many people who visit Japan and travel the entire country without knowing any Japanese. Although it does help to know some basic greetings and phrases and maybe how to count a little as well.

You're welcome. Yes, foreigners can buy property in Japan. There are no restrictions. But you have to submit a notification to the Bank of Japan within 20 days of purchasing any property.

I enjoy so many types of ramen... tsukemen... nothing beats a classic shoyu ramen. Tonkotsu and miso based ramens are great, but I'm also a sucker for shio (salt) based ramen. I had this amazing golden salt ramen last week that had ginger in the broth, it was heavenly!

What is the living cost in Japan. I heard that it 's very expensive and how expensive compare to Viet Nam?

Yes, Japan is fairly expensive, but not too different from America or South Korea. It just depends on what you do, where you go, etc. It's definitely much more expensive than Vietnam by a lot. A bowl of good Pho Bo is like $1.30 USD in Vietnam, but a bowl of good ramen can be more than $10.00 USD in Japan. That's just one example. Rent, groceries, and other things... it's a huge difference.

Awww... well, maybe one day you can take some sleeping pills and wake up in Japan. hehehe Or maybe there is a way you can get to Japan without flying, like only by boat and car..... but I think you'd have to drive around the world in order to do that. If there's a will, there's a way! ^^

No. We are acquaintances, but not friends or anything like that. I think it'd be weird to meet up with them just because we are RU-vidrs, you know what I mean? hehehe Also, they live in Kichijoji area which is like a 1 hour 30 mins train ride from where I live. If I bump into them on the streets of Tokyo, I'll definitely say hi. They'll remember me from Google Korea headquarters and their Cafe You Are Here VIP party that I went to.

I live in a pretty poor country and we have electric wires everywhere. I hate those, because they are ugly. But I can see them in japan too. It spoils the overall picture. Did you made video about your apartment too?

Hmm... I think it's around 160 Yen per liter for regular unleaded. Around that price. I think that comes out to be $4.50 per gallon or something like that. Pretty expensive.

There were plenty of people walking in this video. People walking their dogs, riding bicycles, and lots of people by the train station areas both at the beginning of the video and end of the video.
