I love coming back to these old videos and seeing the evolution of the channel. I hope you see this comment, Luke. I'm so grateful that you've put in wo much work. I appreciate you.

With you and your dad playing under that apple tree as children, it's sort of fitting that you were there at its demise. I think you have one of the best camping/bushcraft series on You Tube. I binge watch them like a good Netflix show. The first one I watched, I thought you were a little too goody-goody, that maybe you were putting it on, but soon realized that is the real you. I quickly grew to appreciate your innate positivity and good nature as the very things that make your videos so good.

Favorites for camping: steak, potatoes precooked halfway and finished off in the coals, capicee salad with basalmic vinegar, the left over potatoes go for breakfast the next morning with scrambled eggs and a little onion,, or pre-cooked chilli that you can freeze up to carry in pack to reheat for supper, or German potato salad which is good hot or cold and can be made on the fire all in the same pot, but you drain off the potato water if you do cook it on site. It makes a meal in one, but not recommended if high cholesterol is a worry. I had a tornado hit near my camp once. Was camped in a light 2 man army surplus tent. The poles just bent nearly to the ground in the wind, but a large tree branch fell 7 feet away from my tent.

Interesting experience. I had the same experience three times in my days of backpacking. My buddy and I were in Cranberry wilderness area in late 70's. A meteor landed about 60-80 yards away. Very loud boom and shook the ground. Smelled a lot like skunk or sulphur. The other two were lightning strikes. Smelled strange with a wood smoke smell. the trees were still smoking an hour after. Very loud. All three happened in different places and were several years apart. Great videos man!!!!

Love the way u manage to rationalise everything in your mind as things happen around you, really does show the experience you have out there. Without sounding like I'm insulting anyone, the less experienced mind would have made it in to a paranormal experience. I mean, the list was endless,, hurable smell of death around u, things falling, cracking and moving around u, Snarling deers, trees falling next to u. Hahaha Absolutely brilliant. I apologise for all the messages the last couple of day's, but I'm fairly new and loving the binge watching right now 🤣

I had to leave one more comment with my heart felt emotions. Ya know, here in Northern Colorado, bears are everywhere, so being being "bear aware" keeps ppl alive. We have grizzly and huge black bear here, so, being aware of your space , is crucial. I certainly dont have much, but, it would be an honor to share the space I call home. Keep making good, honest vids my brother. Stay in the dirt my new friend.

Here is a tip for all you Preppers out there when going across country. 1. Stop in a truck stop and get a truck stop book. Its about $5.00. It will tell you where all the truck stop are in the country. It will tell you if they have fuel and what kind of fuel, food, place to sleep, repairs, and if the truck stop has showers. Showers usually cost about $5-$10.00 unless you have a coupon. If you don't have on ask a trucker. He might have a spare to share with you. 2. Never sleep in a rest area unless you are surrounded by others. Bad things happen in rest areas and they are secluded. A rest area is for those bathroom breaks, eat a sandwich or two then move on down the road. Safer to stop in a truck stop and sleep there where no one will bother you. 3. You will meet a great group of people that will be willing to help you. If you need directions, advice on traveling, and so on. 4. You will find gear that you can use while traveling to make your journey easier to enjoy. (You can also use some of this gear in your preparing.)

Luke...first of all, I just came a crossed your site and I love it. You remind me of my dearest friend in Vietnam. I see you testing equipment, but you seem to be stuck on ferro rods. Here in Colorado, we still enjoy the pleasure of making fire with flint and steel, we love the power of it. Possibly, in the future episodes, demostrate the technic? So many ppl are without a clue of bushcraft skills when they pack up and leave for the hills. Thank s for letting me see the beautiful areas of the eastern woodlands again,

Speaking of trees falling. I was camping at White Swan Provincial Park in British Columbia.( I live on Vancouver Island ) A major wind storm blew in with incredible wind gusts. The site across from us had a huge tree (2 feet across) fall right behind their tent. We heard it cracking though the woods when it fell, and when it hit the ground the ground under our tent shook and we were about 75-100 feet away. SCARY! I love all of your videos and yes the other commentators are correct , you are a true gentleman.

Know why healthy trees fall over in the middle of the night with no wind? Bigfoot, that is how! And owls hooting during the day, that sound larger than normal, and sound . . . "wrong(?)". And a dead animal smell that comes and goes. All those things are attributed to unseen bigfoots (bigfeet(?)).

I can seriously identify with the 'road trip'. I hauled my Blazer behind a Penske truck to Oklahoma from Ohio, and then used my Blazer to haul all my stuff back, 6 months later after the work was finished. What I didn't know was that my Blazer's front tire had a bubble in the center of the tread that developed in Tulsa (right at the beginning of the trip). I spent 18 'near-death-experience-hours' getting back to Ohio in one piece while hauling all my stuff in this enormous Uhaul trailer. When I got home after that white knuckle hell of a trip. My Blazer was sitting in my driveway when I noticed this huge bubble on the driver's front tire. It suddenly just BLEW UP while sitting there. Later on a girlfriend of mine said that she was up all night and day praying that I would make it safely home. Hmmmm! Thank you GOD! Oh and thanks for sharing this video. I would ask one thing though. Do you not worry about heating your cans of food over the fire when it may leak several bad toxins into your beans or other food? Just a thought. I don't think I wouldn't do that unless I had to. Take care Brother.
@TheOutdoorGearReview

Sir Pyro Wow Sir Pyro (I like the name), it sounds like you and I can really relate. Intense, white knuckle trips = incredible experiences. As for heating food in the cans, I don't worry about it at all to be honest. One does need to worry about melting the lining but if you go slow you can heat the food without issue....That's what I go with anyways. Cheers my friend. - Luke
