I absolutely believe there are occasions when police have coerced a false confession out of an innocent person. But this is not one of them.

Emilia's lawyer failed to mention that the most damning confession was to Josh's sister, NOT coerced, or gotten through trickery. Evil little troll envied the prettier Heather.

this documentary was put together beautifully. emilia is one conniving psychopath for sure.

I watch a lot of documentaries, and this is one of the best I've seen. So well put together. Its astounding the lengths she goes trying to manipulate and loophole her way out admitting her involvement.

Emilia didn't want her to suffer, wow what a great person she is

“Did you kill Heather?” “Ugh everybody asks me that!” Well yeah you are on death row for her murder? I think people are gonna ask if you did it

She just never stops the blame game. She takes no responsibility for her part in the murder.

This was so sad to see. The fact that she's caught and she can't just admit and apologise is really sad also scary in a way.

I’m not going to lie, this lady had me fooled for 3 episodes. Boy was I wrong. I will not be quitting my day job.

She's pregnant and she's no problem killing a human being, a mother. I hope that baby inside her would grow up with a heart nothing like her parents. 🙏🙏

She has an answer for EVERYTHING! In her mind, she is never the 'bad guy' She had the audacity to say Heather was her friend and she misses her! SOME nerve 🤨

The way those lies just slide out of her mouth, no hesitation. She's very cold and callous. I'm so glad they managed to get that confession out of her without granting her immunity . On a side note the BBC need to make more of these types of documentaries, loved it!

i love how she laughed when she was asked if she killed Heather... that smile/laugh was the only real true and genuine display of emotion this whole.. interview, or whatever..... and then to say "i miss her, wish she was here" and say she knew her struggle..... pure evil.... unbelievable... just. ..... wow

I love the way this doc was put together was brilliant, in the beginning, I thought she was innocent but now... she's definitely evil.

There are a lot of impressive moments from this detective, but to me the most impressive is at 6:51. Amelia actually just nodded her head that she'd been involved, & the white detective plows ahead with his line of questioning, but the Black detective is so keyed into Amelia, the interrogation, & his goal of getting a confession, that he realizes she's just silently confessed. He actually interrupts his partner & brings Amelia right back to what she's just confessed to, pressuring her to say it out loud so that it's unequivocally on the record & she will have taken a step past the point of no return. And it works. She confesses. In a few short moments she's demonstrating how they killed Heather. It's probably not fair to say this detective singlehandedly broke this case--but he singlehandedly broke this case. He really used the interrogation process effectively. So word to the wise: do not imagine you can go head to head with most detectives. They're trained to get information out of you. LAWYER UP, whether you're innocent or guilty. A cop's job, unfortunately, is to build a case that can be prosecuted. That's not the same as catching the person who committed the crime.

The guy got life cuz he plead guilty she got death cuz she plead not guilty

This documentary was fantastic I don’t know how else to say it, an yes I do believe detectives an courts try to manipulate ppl into false confessions but this isn’t one of them, I lost track in how many times she changed her story and when josh confessed you can tell that was raw and genuine emotion. She was just a liar from the beginning “oh if you need me to testify I will” like c’mon now.

Ugh, they re-sentenced her to life in prison. Well, I hope you have a longgg miserable time there girl. You deserve it 👋🏼👋🏼

Such a sad story, but also so fascinating to see a real psychopath. The flow, how she makes up the lies as she talks, the way she manipulates is both scary and fascinating at the same time... Great documentary, BBC III. RIP Heather.

Omg she shifts ever so slightly when they say the conversation was recorded and she's stone still after like she's using every fiber of her being to stay straight. Her body language is crazy, she's literally trying so hard.

Once I heard the recorded confession played I was that’s it -:HERE IS THE KILLER !! Lord have Mercy upon this young lady’ s soul . Lust deceived her . Big up to the Detectives . Justice served for Heather’ s children

Characters like her (manipulative and conniving) are the ones to which is best to stay away from in the real world...

I like how at first, the documentary almost depicts Emilia and her lawyer as these crusaders against a male dominated society and how it is so horrible to be a wrongly accused single mother. Then, as the documentary progresses, they show similar footage of Emilia and her lawyer and you begin to feel sick to your stomach realizing the high level of manipulation, deceit and cunning that Emilia has employed. That feeling that you could have been tricked by her, just how she was able to trick her dim witted lawyer. That there are real single mothers out there that don't complain or worry like Emilia was playing up. If it weren't for Josh's sister, she might have gotten away with it. Emilia is a master sociopath and possibly psychopath. But above that, excellent job editing and directing to reveal Emilia as the monster she so desparately attempts to hide.

A perfect marriage of great police work and a great documentary. BBC did a great job with this, so much so I'd rather see their version than those done in the states. The details covered, from interrogations to uncovering the corpse.

What I learned . I can say anything to a cop as long as I say " hypothetically" and it only counts when I say " on the record" now I know. And knowing is half the battle.

It's confusing to me how come she keeps saying Heather was her best friend etc etc...but she was also sleeping with Heathers husband when ever Heather and him got in a fight....I wish in the interview they would of asked her to explain her reasoning there. Guilty as charged

Lied through her teeth the whole time. The detectives did not coerce a confession out of her. She called Josh’s sister, and she didn’t know the police were listening when she confessed.

This documentary was by far , one of the best I've seen. The Lead Detective, Burrow's, I believe, showed a perfect example of how he never left one stone unturned. Every detail he covered or asked. Josh finally confessing was "Brilliant" on the Detective's part. He is definitely the Detective, you want on your side in a criminal investigation. Damn good job.

Wow she had fooled, I watched something recent on her. Then I checked this out and watched from start to finish. She had me convinced with the lies, I really thought she was just dumb and complicit, But in actual fact she was involved and not a dumb complicit lover who was in way over head. she's horrible evil with no emotion, no tears nothing. and she still needs to brush them teeth
