Inmate Marcel Williams is on death row for the rape and murder of 22-year-old Stacy Rae Errickson. With only weeks to go before Williams's execution, his attorney Jason Kearney is fighting to save his client's life, arguing that Williams's original lawyers made serious mistakes during his trial. Kearney says these mistakes meant the jury didn't hear vital evidence that could still save him from execution.

Nah bullshit. No one's saying you will necessarily become a rapist of you are abused as a child. You didn't, because there are infinitely many variables at play. Are you a woman? How old were you? What did the rest of your childhood look like? What's your natural disposition? He didn't have a choice. Stop justifying murder under the guise of a just retribution. It isn't. It's just revengeful evil perpetrated on poor people that were dealt the short straw in life.

First of all, this clip does paint Marcel in a sympathetic way, I agree. But if I remember correctly the actual documentary is also compassionate to the victims. These snippets for sure do not mention the suffering of the victims’ families and they most definitely need to have their voices heard. They are grieving the loss of a loved one. I can’t imagine how horrible that would be. But I am still against the death penalty. As an abolitionist it has nothing to do with whether or not this man deserves to die for his crimes and everything to do with the fact that while HE may be guilty others are exonerated of their crimes via DNA. And had they not been exonerated they would have likely been executed for crimes they did not commit. Do I believe some people deserve to die? Yes. But one innocent man executed is one too many.

The death sentence should be a DETERRENT to anyone who thinks of committing a vicious crime such as this. As you can see, he's scared trying to fight for his life. That is the point. If he would've thought of how he'd be fighting for his life before he committed the crime, he and his victim would still be alive. The problem is, is that they always think they aren't ever going to be caught and when they are, they can't believe they're facing the death penalty. Honestly, I don't understand why they don't teach this fact in school before they become teenagers/ adults that start committing these horrible crimes.

I understand that what he did was wrong and he does deserve a punishment but I have the unpopular opinion that death sentence is wrong. Killing a man just for the sake of killing him because the resources were limited is disgusting. Comment what you want and try to argue with me but I will forever feel that death sentence is wrong. I’m not saying what he did was ok, he took a woman away from her family, but I am saying death sentence was not the only option in this situation and it certainly wasn’t the right one.

You do realize they can still keep killing and raping guards and other inmates in prison. Some are to dangerous to be left alive.

It is necessary to warn the potential criminal of the consequences. If the punishment is jail free food etc the you will be inviting many more. Many animals are put down for biting. The have more right to live than a human murderer.

The death penalty is wrong. Plain and simple. No one person's story is like another's whether they had a good or bad childhood so no one has the right to decide to end someone else's life. In killing criminals society becomes as bad as the murderers they are trying to convict; either all human life is sacred or no human life is. The prison system, especially in the US where life means life, provides adequate punishment and suffering for criminals without any valid need for the death penalty.

The crime where he was raped by a group of men while in prison where he was still a child would leave terrible terrible scars on any child. There would have been no trauma treatment for him after he was torn apart so brutally. How would you feel if that happened to your child? His mother beat any self esteem or love out of him. A child growing up in any home where there is no love or protection causes young minds to fracture. He becomes the unloved and unlovable. I dont condone what he did to his victim. But leaving children in the circumstances and the extreme poverty that he lived in does not produce a stable well adjusted young men or women. He would see the world as a horrific place. Putting children younger than 20 years old in prison is criminal on its own. Now If the prison does not protect them from these terrible abusive attacks then the prison needs to be held to account. The attack on him in prison is not counted. So therefore he didnt count as a human being. That is the message he got loud and clear. So the prison system needs to change. He was a poor poor soul.. Judges and prisons need to know that when young people are jailed, they come out so much worse than when they went in. They create more damaged humans. That is not rehabilitation! So he comes out and kills someone. Its inevitable. You can be 'sick of hearing prisoners say that they were beaten and sexually abused' But if you honestly think that it doesn't effect and change those victims, those human beings. ............ Then you need your heads examined!!

My parents are both from Eastern Europe, they would WHIP the shit out of me with belts and electric cords. Once I got suspended in the 6th grade and my father was straight BACKHANDING me in the principals office and he told the old man he couldn't hit me like that (1994) my dad turned around and told the principal to shut his mouth before he disciplines him. My father and mother were both non-drinkers, never committed crimes but they beat the shit out of me and my sis if we got out of hand. I never killed anyone and more importantly I wouldn't change a thing about how they disciplined me. Kids are pampered these days and that is why you have school shootings and all this nonsense going on in the world.

A rapist deserves nothing but to be tortured to death. I'm happy for his victim if she feels she is past that point of her life but he gave up his right to live when he decided to rape someone. All rapists should be put to death immediately in my opinion, and not in such a peaceful way.

I can believe that judge is crying. Judges have feelings. Its not all about business. In the end. Its out of judges hands. Jury will decide the faith of an individual who had been convicted of homicide. No one was there for him to teach him right from wrong. He was a victim himself, perhaps the minute that he was born.

Yes America is about half a century behind when it comes to this issue, Texas is at least a full century behind. You need to put more money into helping people with psychological problems, more money into rehabilitation of your youth and more money into things like addiction programs and homelessness, instead of spending it on false wars and space programs !

Swansea 1984 I feel for you. Living in a dream world where no one is bad, just sick tells me mental health issues do exist and you're prood of that. As a PROUD Texan myself I can say I strongly believe these murderers are getting off nicely. True justice would be to eliminate them mirroring the same way they assassinated their victim. Nothing less. Be grateful it's a peaceful death.

When I see that murderers receive a death penalty, honestly, I feel like they got what they deserved. At the same time I feel like that is just based off of emotion and not the law. If someone is human they have human rights, no matter what, because the only qualification for human rights is to be human. To argue that he's a monster is just emotion. He is a human. Well, was. You can't say some humans get rights and some don't because then human rights don't really exist. If I believe anything, it's in human rights. At the same time I do feel relief when I see a very evil person get the death penalty. I don't think it should be legal though because it's a violation of human rights. He should have gotten life in prison.

Let’s remember these aren’t angels that are being killed these are people who’ve taken others lives. I believe in justice, they’re lucky they get a humane way to die. Their victims didn’t get to choose a peaceful way out. So the death penalty isn’t so bad when you compare the two is it?
