I’m 57, retired military, and I spent most of my life with affordable G-shocks for work. I have always admired mechanical watches and horology in general but I figured I’d never have the means for a really good mechanical watch. (and not really knowing enough to “choose a good one”.) I discovered your channel a few months back and have been “devouring” (nod to Hugo) the past ten years worth of knowledge and experience that you have been sharing on your channel. I recently bought my first automatic watch (a modest Hamilton Murph 38mm) and now I have my sights set on soooo many different and amazing pieces. I’m living proof that you’re never too old to learn and to pursue those things in life that bring you joy. Thank you, TGV. How fortunate are we that you saw fit to share your passion with the rest of us? We can’t wait to see what comes next! Onwards and upwards.

TGV, I wanted to thank you for getting me into watches. Watching this video made me realized that we as an audience have grown with you and are all the better for it. Just like old good friends, the frequency of meeting is sparse but treasured more when time allows. We've all matured into true gentlemen now rather than chasers of FOMO. I've been on multiple hobbies and just like you, I've grown fed up of hype culture and have begun also to carve my own way through all my hobbies in filtering the pieces that make me struggle to the pieces that make me excited to keep using. I have fully assumed my taste and embraced its difference from others, as it should. While I understand the direction you're looking to explore in this "new era", I already feel you've been doing it for the past year. This video just confirms such vibe :)

I actually think this is the best thing that could happen! I've been watching your videos since you started your channel, and to be honest, lately you've been focusing too much on negative hype, things you don't like and the negative stuff around watches/the watch industry etc. It hasn't really felt like you. I remember a couple of years back when you were in your first war room, having that yellow notepad and all the interesting stuff in the background. I kind of felt like I was there with you, listening to whatever you had to say in that video and just feeling relaxed. You were always positive, interesting and shared your thoughts on stuff, whether it be watches, clothes, EDC etc. In fact, I like those videos so much that I've been looking at them quite a lot lately, just to remember those good old days. Now don't get me wrong, I love the stuff that you do. And I too think this hype around watches and constant talk about investment has taken away so much fun from watches. But, I try to leave it at that and don't talk about it. Instead I'm focusing on the fun side of it and trying to find the next "hidden gem" to research and eventually buy (one always do lol). If I could, I'd definitely wind back the time to 2013-2018, when watches weren't this "popular" and hyped. To the time when me and my fellow nerds would hang out on forums (I still do) and discuss watches for what they are - fun things to be enjoyed, not "investments", and all the crap that comes along with that. The time when your channel was one of the few that actually talked about watches. I welcome this change to the channel and I'm hoping to see more of the "old TGV". Just a relaxed Brit who talks about stuff I find interesting, and also sometimes not interesting, but you manage to make it interesting anyway. Talking occasional tours around NY, cafés, restaurants, parks, barbers etc. One last thing - the video when you're talking about your Explorer in the U.K. is a prime example of what I like about this channel and what I'm hoping for. Just relaxed, positive, informative and great!

Congratulations to the 10th anniversary! A bit of change is often a good thing and I guess many of us gentry appreciate the mixture of watch content, history, art, technology and philosophy. I was able to reconstruct that I watched my first video of yours (when researching entry-level Seikos) in October or November 2017. It has been an awesome journey so far. I love watching your content TGV. As a movie buff myself, I most appreciate your story telling and all the effort you put in to the videos... Mate, It was YOU who showed me the GMWB-5000. That was my first grail, I wear that crazy thing every day. I adore It, and that’s that matters most to me. I have every reason to hate the watch, but I just can’t. It’s a watch that I just absolutely adore. Thank you, TGV, sincerely. Currently wearing a Casio MTP-V001 that my mother got me for 21st birthday, for 29 dollars. You got me Into G Shock and from there I went down this amazing rabbit hole of watchmaking.

Congrats, and continued success. Here's to another 10 years!!! You were one of the first watch related RU-vid channels. Most of those channels are gone, and the few that remain have become very toxic live stream e-begging. Even the big channels have changed, but you sir, stuck to your guns. You remain relevant and evolved without losing focus on watch content. You give us history, life style, pop culture watch related content, and amazing detailed (non pretentious) honest reviews on all watch price ranges. I have mad respect for the dedicated content consistency, and for not allowing yourself fall into drama/toxicity with (no name mentioned) watch channel years ago. Tristano, you are a class act - no one holds a candle to you as your videos are never boring. The effort you make to add the history of the time period allied to the watch/brand is par excellence as it is never just about the watch. All is in context. Love all the movie references too! I remember finding you a number of years ago when I was given a watch and decided to buy my first couple, which at the time of my limited budget, was Invicta. I would watch your videos to learn the history, the best bang-for-buck watches and just to listen to you and learn from you. These days I have a watch box of Citizen, Casio, Hamilton, Cartier, (boy, a lot of C's) and a bunch stored away... I'm very proud of where you've come now with your career, designing watches. I will contend that this is the most comforting channel on RU-vid. Even when I couldn’t care less about the watch, even when I don’t understand certain words or cultural connections, I am still very relaxed and happy when I have time to watch a TGV video. I used to listen to your videos while on my feet sandblasting at work for 8-14 hours at a time. Then my next job as airport security had you keeping me company while I drove around checking gates on the overnight shift. Now I watch before bed, because it helps de stress me and forget about the problems in the world. The attention and care to something as small and inconsequential as wristwatches, combined with the joyful nostalgic pop culture sensibility in your videos, it is unparalleled. You strike a tone that no one else can. I now get nostalgic for your older videos and the times when I first started watching them. Thank you for your work over all these years.

Looking forward to the new content! I am 57 year old woman and your channel always keep me informed. I am from southern California and have recommended your channel to several people. I only have one daily watch and it is the Rolex Date that I purchased at Bucherer in Switzerland in 2017. It was more cost effective with the VAT tax refund than to buy in the U.S. Also, because you reviewed watch winders I have concluded that I do not need one for my Rolex. Looking forward to the next 10 years!

TGV has been pivotal to my enjoyment of watches. I’ve learned so much from him about the watches and other topics. A watch for me has to have heritage and story as much as good looks and functionality. It’s not all about the price and status of luxury brands. If you ask me my gold Casio I was wearing during my child’s birth in which their mother hates because “it makes me look like an old man” is priceless. It also looks awesome with an all black track suit.

Warm congratulations, TGV, on your anniversary, and much more so on your consistent ability to seamlessly blend deep insight into watches and contemporary watch culture within a broader context of art, style, pop culture, and (heaven forbid) history and philosophy. That you do so with the best sort of British humor, punctuated by the occasional outburst of emphatic Italian, make it all the more fun, particularly as I lived in the UK four years and come from a pretty expressive Italian family. So good on you and true thanks for all the watch insight and advice I’ve gleaned from you for so long. (As a sci if geek I’m still chasing that damned Seiko Ridley….). Also, one stylistic note from my lovely wife, who dabbles in spiritualism; she told me David Niven called and that he is keen to get that mustache back. Hope you find your way back to NYC-onward!
