A Family Day in San Diego and Taking Growing Older One Day at a Time / Over 50 

Dear Nanny!!!! I have been bedridden and alone. I know what hopelessness feels like. I turned to the Lord and He lifts me up. I don't want anyone to feel like that, ever. You just gave me permission to share what the Lord gives me💕💕 We are all in this together!!!!! When I feel down I read Isaiah 53 to remind me of what Jesus did for me. I also read Psalm 91:4, "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under hiswings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler." In my darkest times I prayed, Lord, put me under your feathers!!!God bless you all.

Having just suddenly lost my precious mom last month, I can attest to the fact that attitude about aging makes a huge difference. She hated growing old, hated being alone, and refused to consider living with any of us or leaving her home to go to assisted living. A fall on her back porch & a severe subdural hematoma is what ended her life. Everyone please take care, don't be too proud to use whatever device YOU need to help you, whether it's a cane, a walker, a hearing aid. These things can help you live your best lives! I am 65 & have a different take on aging, I think because we own & operate a funeral home, and that is AGING IS A PRIVILEGE; NOT EVERYONE GETS TO DO IT. As we age we must identify our limitations, use what we can to overcome them, and accept the rest. Nanny you & Moosie are wonderful examples of embracing the aging process. Thank you! Good morning! Another wonderful “pep talk” from our pro aging professor. I know I’ve said this before but I think it is worth reminding us all again. So here goes: waking up in the morning with JOY IN YOUR HEART AND MIND…it has changed my attitude towards EVERYTHING a million fold. Not happiness but JOY! (Bytheby…that’s also my real/true middle name !) Find the joy in everything…menial tasks, chores, daily fumbles, EVERYTHING! I chuckle at alllll these things out loud..than praise God that he has given even the teeny weeniest things in my 78 (almost) yr mature life that can give me JOY! Today I’m going to find JOY in dusting my whole house! While I do so…my new found “energizer” is listening to Elvis really loud….playing thru the WHOLE house! Boy….if he doesn’t energize me NOTHING WILL!!!! Sometimes I turn on my tv/cable music to the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music station and blast….and I mean BLAST all through the house and dance to it. I’m the crazy “ole lady” on my block with the blaring music. Do I care…NOPE…it brings me JOY and I’ve earned the right to give myself GOD GIVEN JOY! Try it, all of Nanny’s RU-vid gals and guys…….I promise you it will change your attitude about almost EVERYTHING! Gotta go…turn on my tunes…and dust…and sing and giggle while I do it!!! At 68, I find aging to be 95% attitude. Of course I am still in very good health which is most important, too; but for me, a positive attitude definitely helps me take good care of my health. I made the decision a long time ago to live one day at a time as much as possible. My spouse is four years younger than I am and he has not yet retired, which is a good thing for both of us. We are very thankful to still have each other and I pray that we live to grow even older. You and Moosie are excellent role models, and I am forever grateful to have found your channel. Most definitely at your age, and with all the responsibilities you have to take care of, the fact that you take the time to maintain this wonderful You Tube channel speaks volumes about the kind and caring human being you are. THANK YOU for all you do-and indeed “God bless us all.”

Nanny, you and Moose are my inspirations. Now, at 71 & 73, my husband and I just celebrated our 51st. anniversary. We are both blessed with good health and some of our family is very close by. The joy we always feel when we have family time is part of the juice that keeps us going. I completely agree with the pro-aging. There are only two options, and having more birthdays is most definitely my choice. For me a priority is being as strong, as sharp, and as happy as I can be as I add more candles to the cake! Now I definitely take care of my skin, use makeup most days. But all of that is really about me feeling the best I can about myself on that day. I am ok with finding new things to enjoy, experiencing more adventures in this life and being grateful for the smallest blessings in a day. Looking forward is a much clearer vision than the rear view mirror. Much love to you both. Bless you for your gift of communication and positivity.🥰🌹

I’m 67 and alone (thru grey divorce at 62, not my idea!) and you give me strength thru your words to grasp the “pro aging” lifestyle. Thank you for being here as I strive to move forward alone. I’m blessed to have my son and his family an hour away. My son was in Marine Corps boot camp in San Diego and in happier times we traveled out there for graduation. I used to ride my bike from the airport along the bay to Seaport Village and have coffee or lunch. Beautiful area. Love your necklace and bracelet set - think I'm going to order that for my friend for her birthday this year. Having a friend over for brunch tomorrow - I don't do that often but want to start doing more of that. My dog makes me get up and out for a good walk everyday. It keeps us both healthy.

I lived in San Diego from 1995 to 2015 when we moved to Temecula. My special needs granddaughter lives there. It has really changed in the last few years. But then again….so has Temecula. Glad you had a great visit. God bless. ❤

The kids are absolutely darling and very entertaining and talented! taking life, one day at a time is the only way to live in my opinion. my mother became a widow at 54 years old, but she filled her life with lots of friends. she always had people stopping by and calling on the phone. she had a great attitude about everything and accepted her circumstances no matter what they were. Mikey's family are lovely ! ( & talented!). What great memories you are creating for & with them! We moved to San Diego in 1967 after my father died as my mom had a best friend there & thought it would be a nice new start, unfortunately, I didn't want to stay, I wanted to be back in Boston with my friends, so we returned. It's one of the biggest regrets of my life to have put my mom through that. You look lovely, as always, Nannie!❤

You are wise and I love it. I am or I will be 75 in a couple months and I can feel myself slowing down. I like to think of myself as a young 74 but reality sets in and I just have to go with the flow of things. Aging has been hard for me but I'm accepting what is. I love listening to you. Hi Nanny and Moose, I am new to your channel and find you so uplifting and positive about aging. I am 67, not in the best health and very lonely. Actually I hate getting older, when I look in the mirror I don't know who I am. I was OK until I had to retire due to major health issues after being a RN for many years that was a huge part of my life, I worked so many hours as a Director of Nursing, raised my beautiful Daughter who was my joy. She met and married a man who is not a family orientated person for various reasons and estranged from his family. To my heartache she is now estranged from me for about 16 years, she lives in the same town and I see her every now and then. I have 2 grandchildren I really don't know, how sad. I have made so many attempts through the years to be in her life, her husband is not on board with it, and she lives to make him happy so we are not in their lives. Unfortunately, I have not been blessed with the best marriage and find that he is in his early stages of Dementia and having trouble with walking. He has never really been a friend to me, we both worked so much in our early lives and now that we are thrown together in our older years we have nothing in common. We traveled a great deal and now are not able. As far as friends I never nurtured them so they are not in the picture. A few years ago my only Sister died and now I have no family left alive. I have so many regrets and wish I could have a redo but that doesn't happen. Sorry for the long story however you talking about taking one day at a time with aging, doing what you are able to do and being positive is helping me. Thank You for saying aging is a gift, that is true! I only talk to my Dr., Pharmacist, waitresses and store clerks that is it. I am so lonely and starved for socialization. Thank You!

Nanny you are always spot on with your advice and talks about old age and also about most anything else. I will be 80 this Sept 11th. I can really tell a difference in last year and this year. Also us older folks get UTI infections easier as we age. We have to be careful with that. Sometimes as we get older we don't even know we have one. I think the incontinence pads can cause the UTIs too. I am lucky so far I dont have to wear any. But if I get Bronchitis I need to wear one as I cough so hard. But luckily I don't get it that often. Maybe once a year in the winter time. I enjoyed seeing all the flowers in your garden and your gorgeous bouquet in your home. Glad you got to get together in San Diego with your son and family. Your little granddaughters are cute.. loved her Irish jig🥰 Good to see and hear Moosie's Cameo. Your yogurt cake looked good. I will have to get a spring pan though first before I try the recipe but I wrote it down. Just love y'all Nanny and always enjoy your videos. Thank you Nanny your words on several of your videos made such a difference in my life. I took myself out to Ulta to treat myself to a new brow cosmetic and just started to get really sick and dizzy, very hot here in NC, not the first time had recent mesh net removal surgery and it has messed my insides up and great loss of blood. Sorry telling so much I know but drs I am finding, try not to find things or help and they could not remove all of it. I am scared and worried because I am alone, all alone, and I need to be independent since my husband died before covid. So I rushed home and got ice packs, didn't eat much when I left and nauseous...so I was determined not to call EMS again, just had a great cry and put your videos on and it seemed like you heard me, your words, realities of getting older, saved me, I hope. Along with this sure it added an anxiety attack, but things just don't work the same in your body and you now have to watch and do, like don't leave house without food and drink, but sometimes you just get caught with your pants down...haha.. mom would say. But having no one is truly hard. But I have you I realized today, thanks for your talks...so much. You are so wonderful.
