I love aorus laptops. I have an aorus 17x with 10th gen 8 core i7 and 200 watt 2080 super. The 17x has mechanical keyboard on it. Lots of travel. My cpu score is lower in timespy cause it’s 10th gen but my gpu is higher than the 3070. I get over 11100.
LOL I wish I had money this thing will be gone within the hour. Great content as always ETA I just shared this video with all my close friends, You'll hit 1 million in no time!
@@WhisperedLegendsASMR I understand. But usually when devices are paired with very strong cpu and gpu, they tend to take too much power even when idle. Super powerful devices, some of them only last around 5 hours even when doing simple stuff
in eco mode when my omen laptop was brand new, i was able to watch netflix with half luminosity for like 3 hours. Laptops battery wont keep long especially when performance is high
Everything looks beautiful on this ips screen but like you said 1440p would be ideal on this machine. I'm not a big fan of Gigabyte but this is a good looking laptop
On a 15.6" display, I don't really care for 1440p. Rather have the extra fps. My desktop running a 3080 and a 27" monitor however, does call for 1440p res.
not a fan of the nostril cam.... there is a reason that cameras are usually mounted on the top of the bezel on a laptop. When mounted on the hinge its not the greatest angle
I would like you to consider revisitiing some of your older budget PC builds and adding the AMD Radeon RX 6400 Low Profile Gaming Graphics Card to boost the performance on Rizen 5 or Rizen 7's chips.
Would be interested to know what extra performance might get with a external GPU running off that thunder bolt 4, I need a laptop that can runs Unreal engine 5 well that’s portable but being able to connect to a better screen and a faster GPU at home or the office would be useful. Comparing it to a desktop 3070 in a eGPU would be interesting.
Out of curiosity, which controller(s) do you prefer to use when playing emulated games? Thanks for the review; it's great to see what all this specific config can push!
There is a 1440p option, Full HD or Fhd is 1080p and Qhp is 1440p. But it's a 500-1000$ difference depending where you are. I do believe the 1440 version is a 3070ti as well. But exact same specs except the screen and gpu. I think they went 3070ti for the 1440 so you don't drop under 60fps in games to keep this competitive for years to come.
The 'trim-level' above this is the Aorus 5 XE4. It has the 3070Ti, but is only 1080p. The model above the 5 is the Aorus 15 XE4 which has the 3070Ti and is 1440p.
@Paul Citti this laptop runs hot. Playing cod cold war on low settings has the cpu seeing 94-104°C pretty fast and steady. But somehow the gpu stays under 80. I find it bothersome a laptop with a dedicated gpu is cpu bound in games.
It's good, but expensive. You can get a lenovo with R7 5800h/3060 laptop for a few hundred less or one from MSI with 10500h/3060 for a bit over half the price! Yes they're weaker, but i feel like there's quite a lot of competition on mid range gaming laptop space, and price to performance isn't quite there for this laptop. Alder lake is the selling point here and i'm not sure the 14 cores are meant for gaming purposes.
To be honest, I bought this in mind for gaming. I got it at like $1,050 so it was a better deal for me than the other computers from better brands. Any other computer with these specs either were severely underpowered or were way out of budget. I can mitigate almost every major issue on this computer with stuff I already have. Great deal for me.
Thanks for adressing why you dont use others harder games on ps3 emulation like MGS4 or TLOU , maybe you could try them when you test a super powerful machine only to see how they run, like when you have a very low end arm or apu and you already know some emulators will run poorly but you do it anyways
Nice video, during your test for hardware, many emulator show. Is that possible has a series of different EMU setup/configuration, like PS3/XBOX those difficult one...Thanks
That Cinebench score seems a bit low for that CPU. Do you know what wattage they have the CPU at? My MSI GP66 with same CPU with under-volt gets almost 17K. Also running the fans @ max during benchmarks is the way to go for max performance.
Personally I would save the $1000 money and get the AORUS 15P with the 11th Generation i7. It comes with a 3080 16GB GDDR6 instead of the 3070 8GB. With the money I saved I upgraded the RAM to 64GB and installed a 2nd NVME. Timespy scores 10300...exact same score as this video.
@@thecrwster You mean "can't" right? My point is the benchmarks are the exact same thing for last years model. I prefer saving the money and putting it into more ram and 2nd M.2 drive.
i have a problem with this laptop. i bought it few days back. i have installed a kingston m.2 nvme ssd on the second m.2 slot then the problem comes when i wanted to restart the laptop, it stuck at the aorus bios logo. i dont know how to fix it. do i need other m.2 nvme ssd other than kingston one. nvme m.2 kingston 500gb
I got this laptop and i am loving it. However when playing games on ultra settings the battery starts dropping even when plugged in. Did you experience this issue during your time testing? Many users seem to have this issue. I suspect the 230w charger supplied is underpowered for this laptop.
This is a recurrent issue since the power brick is not strong enough to support the power the laptop needs But how much wud you say the battery drop is like is it really fast or just 2-5 percent over hours on gaming. How is the overall experience
@@ahmadafzal1918 Depends on the games. Triple AAA titles on high and ultra settings cause a drop of around 15% per hour. This is acceptable to me as i don't game for hours together. Also i undervolted my GPU and now it's around 10% per hour after intensive gaming . But i noticed that the charging brick does not supply power at Max . Charging brick becomes very hot and maybe that's causing it to supply low wattage to prevent damage. I don't know what's causing the issue. But the laptop is amazing and performs well.
@@dinorangel2476 I am wanting to buy this but this one issue is the one thats keeping me from buying it cuz i do play for 3-5hours in a go on weekends sometimes and if it meant not experiencing this problem by either toning the graphic settings a bit down and capping the fps wud resolve the issue then thats fine Also how did u undervolt gpu isnt the bios locked or something.
@@ahmadafzal1918 cpu cannot be undervolted but GPU can be using MSI afternburner . It is safer then doing it through bios. You get similar performance but with reduced temperatures . I would suggest you go for this laptop only if you really like it or there's a good discount on it. I would recommend legion 5 pro with ryzen 5800H and RTX 3070. It is similarly priced and Performs marginally better than this. Also 300 watt brick is supplied .
@@dinorangel2476 its going for around 1200 but the legions are around 1300 im waiting for Black friday for them to come down But personally i like the Aorus more than the legions Its more aesthetically pleasing but with all the problems im too ambivalent. I hope there wasnt this battery drain issue man
I own one of these laptops, they are great, but be aware that if you want to use this running on Linux, track pad and WiFi may not work (as of June 2022). I tried Linux Mint, Puppy Linux (LOL), MX and the drivers needed were not present from the get-go. Tried Pop-OS and everything was working. Usually this distro is known for good hardware support.
Does the battery still drop when playing at max settings AAA games and if so whats the range like meaning is it fast or does it drop by a couple of percentages over hours
Great review. Here in my country, this latop costs the same as the ASUS rog strix G15 Ryzen 9 5900HX with RX 6800m. Which one do you recommend for gaming?
Not sure how you tested the battery but there is absolutely no way to get 8 hours of battery life with normal use. 2 hours at most. Unfortunately I bought this laptop due to this review only to find it can't meet my needs.
Thats true, the Batterielife is really bad. Mostly because the NVIDIA GPU is always on and always using 20-30w while doing nothing really. Sadly cant disable the GPU. I have the laptop and am happy as it meets my needs (mostly VR Gaming) but ya sadly the Batterie life is really souring the soup abit. Not to mention the buggy Bios FB008 or whatever... that kills gaming performance usaly, i suggest downgrading to FB005.
God of War with 80 fps is nice with the ultra settings. A game like GoW doesn't really need more than that anyways...It's not as fast paced of a hack and slash as it's predecessors.
What kind of storage did it come with? Everywhere I look it just says 512gb SSD but nothing specific, so is it just an M.2 SSD or is it an NVME gen3 or 4?
i've found that model in a sale, worthin 1099, do you think that is a good price? should i wait for the black friday? For those specs i think that is a hel of a price
I’m only getting about 40-50 fps in cyberpunk with the same settings. I checked the gpu and cpu temps and they were about 60 Celsius. Is this why? I’m thinking maybe the gpu is being underutilized
Best Buy just had it on sale, I bought one BEFORE I saw this, Do you have a video where you give sep by step on how to setup emulator? I know you can not sow how to get roms.
Yeah it uses Microsoft Azure AI software. I just leave it on auto mode and it switches between "meeting mode" "gaming mode" "lower power mode". You can set them manually as well but I see no need too.
I have the same laptop but check this in your laptop please, Bought this laptop and it performs well but it will not keep a charge while plugged in and gaming Look the battery and gaming The TDP drops to 45w gpu in gta v Check your laptop please
I've noticed your comments below and I just came here to agree with your concerns. I bought the Aorus 5 and had many problems with bios, Control Center, updates, performance and battery drops even connected to the power charger. Returned the laptop this morning l and now I got a Legion 5 7th gen (non-pro) with 6800H and 3070ti. Better materials - really solid construction, temperatures, performance, fans noise, keyboard and most important - battery! The Aorus struggles to reach 4 hours of normal use and the Legion reached 4 hours still with 49% of battery remaining today, almost incredible for me. There are two points that I must say Aorus is better - processor and screen, and for me, it doesn't justify the purchase over Legion.
Can we have these scores side by side with relevant competitive products? It doesn't make much sense to compare this laptop with products 3-5 years old. I don't really feel like watching dozens of your videos, writing down a bunch of numbers, and trying to compare them all myself
@@thunderresistant Yes that has happened to me specifically if I was gaming on the battery and then i plug it in at like 10% i notice if i am still playing games the battery will discharge to 8 or 7% but as soon as I stop playing games it will charge just fine. You can probably stop this by changing the power profile so its not drawing max power. I have never had it shut off or anything while plugged in and discharging but i have noticed the battery still discharging slightly after being plugged in during a gaming session.
@@TorogymFitness oh then it has mux switch, thank so much, I've trying to figure it out for a while now, also thank you for recommending Lenovo, I'm in Europe and here Aorus se4 costs around 1550€ but it's a great deal and I couldn't find a laptop from Lenovo that either had the hardware i want or the price i could afford
@@cinnaghane6664 watch videos comparassion, the benchmarks are the same in games, also gigabyte has worst sopport, less quality material and everithing, serch before buy
