A Fazer in My Life - Episode 11 - GEAR INDICATOR INSTALL 

Thanks for the video, the instructions that came with my kit were rather vague, I’d never have worked out how to power it from brown brake light cable & grey crank sensor cable. Took me a while to work out that the plug that’s disconected is then used with both ends to make a bridge with the gear indicator! I also made an “L” shaped tab out of an aluminium number plate, and hot glued it in place between speedo & fairing. I also gave up on the scotch “snap shut” cable jointers as they were very fiddly, so I cut my cables & joined then using crimp style connectors. 👍🏻

Thanks for the video. You can install the positive and negative wires on other wires though, since they're positive and negative, of course.

Thanks for the video. I too would love to have a gear selected indicator on my motorcycle, mainly to indicate first and second gear so I can more confidently find neutral (for which an indicator is provided). I came across this device on Ali-Express and I now know (thanks to this video) that this is not the device I was looking for. The neutral sensor on my bike (a Royal Enfield 650 twin) provides 7 different output voltages, one for each of the 6 gears and a 7th for neutral. The plug/socket is the same but obviously serves a different function so I won't be trying to use the one shown in this video (I've ordered one but I hope not to use it now although probably I could change the plugs to make it work with my bike). Instead I'll program a micro-controller to detect those 7 voltage levels and display the correct gear on a 7 segment display. Wish me luck.

lol people who say "if you can ride properly you don't need one" don't ride bikes. i also got a fz6 exept mine the naked version. really fun bikes and i do get what you mean by trying to shift in to 6th when you are already there. i find it amazing how well and smooth they ride in 6th att fairly low speeds.

I can't find one of those programmable ones piggy, you happen to have a link? I've found plug and play, but nothing like yours. Is it the srad one you were referring to?

Good instruction! Thanx so far, but does anybody knows why my indicator keeps flashing L? Without going from L to 1?

Just installed mine and failed the learning process, says 1st gear is nothing and 2nd is first , I tried disconnecting the battery and all wires from it but it won't re-learn at all ... just my luck lol
