My Yamaha Fazer FZ6-S2 ... In this episode, I fit a 4 degree ignition advance wheel, cog, thingy.
The internet says I should. So I shall. So I did. Here is how I did it.
PS. Not noticed any difference at all in throttle response etc. But... placebo that its betterer?

Any improvement after fitting? I tried a 4 degree rotor on my Gen1 FZS1000, ran like a sack 'O' shite, really bad below 3,000rpm, very jerkomatic, un-rideable in traffic, refitted OEM rotor, all is good in the world again ... mine's a tuned bike, so may be the reason why it didn't suit.?

I honestly didn't notice any difference. I've recently had it Dyno tuned at Dynojet and obviously they could make use of the advance with the tune. If yours had a tune, it wants retuning for the advance.

yes, FZ6 s2 - ABS, absolutly want to see more content. But if you do explain why did u do it, would be nice. your reason that the internet told you to, i dont get it..

@@PiggyPower most likely it came retarded a bit to satisfy emissions, a timing advance will help it burn more of the fuel when it sparks

in THEORY it would make the bike behaves like if it has more Horse power, at torque and emissions costs so... there is nothing to really gain really. When Yamaha designed the timing advance of this bike, they made the best possible for the best possible count of escenarios.

Yamaha like many of the other bike manufacturers have to factor in fuel quality,and emissions laws . The original ignition rotor takes the worse case scenario and makes it a fail safe. With finer quality fuel advanced ignition timing will indeed help the motor make better use of that fuel. This enables the motor to burn more of the fuel in the combustion chamber. Making a better performing engine in the higher RPM range.

Did you alter the Co1 co2 settings after fitting? I've read Co is for below 4krpm, over 4k map takes over fueling

Hi Piggy, I know it’s not relevant to this video (sorry) is there any online sources for info on tuning the PSA 2.0 hdi engine? I keep looking at the racetractor and it’s giving me ideas…

@@PiggyPower thanks for the reply. Just trying to see what’s possible with the engine I’ve got and if there’s any off the shelf parts (turbo/injectors/pumps) that’s swappable for better performance. It’s only for improving my Fiat Scudo 2.0 hdi at the moment 😂 - but I fancy a project for later in the year and there’s a lot of cars with these engines in..

@@PiggyPower previous owner said it had been mapped. It needs a new/bigger intercooler - can tell the difference from a cold damp day to a warm day.

A stg1 map shouldn't need any modifications at all. Are you sure a sensor isn't on the way out? IAT or MAF? Is yours the 110bhp from factory I presume? So has a Dual mass flywheel?

I honestly didn't really notice much. It's supposed to be better on throttle response which is kind of was a bit better but I'd changed a few things along with this. It's cheap and easy and fun to do
