Thanks so much @PiggyPower i just did this mod, and the difference is night and day. So good, great video worked like a charm.

I just did this mod yesterday, thanks to this video. In combination with replacing the clutch cable, my clutch is now so light it's night and day. Really makes a huge difference. Though my first and second gear are still a bit jumpy at times. Probably clutch wear? It's good for now

@@PiggyPower When going from N into first (from stop), I always hear a clunk, sometimes a few smaller clicks as if the clutch wasn't pressed and gears were touching each other. Tough to describe. Tightening the clutch cable (removing slack) helped but I don't wanna get it too tight. Also, when going from first to second, sometimes it's clunky, other times no issue. I've read that Yamahas behave like this and hope there's nothing wrong with my bike. I've gotten used to getting into secong from first at low Rpm, usually no clunks or clicks there. A few times I've encountered these clunky sounds when revving high in first going into 2nd or when going from neutral into 2nd while at speed. Suppose both are normal. My Fazer has 47000 Km on it so I suppose some clutch wear is there. Haven't checked, I'm a noobie still so I take my baby steps when it comes to digging into the bike lol. The important thing is, all of the above has been there during operation before I'd done the mod so no issue there. I've been on a few trips now with the new clutcharm and cable and it's really comfortable. Thinking about perhaps replacing the levers as my next mod. Not that that's needed, I'm fine with stock levers. Anyways, sorry for the wall of text and thanks for the video

Don't modify unless there is good reason to. Stock levers are perfectly fine and already adjustable to suit the rider. Better spending your money on training and skills days. As regards the gear selecting, sounds fine to me. It's a straight cut box, always be a bit clunky. I get false neutrals in 5th-6th sometimes ... Can't be gentle. Bang it in! When I'm gentle it doesn't respond as well, be firm and positive with gear changes. Unless there are some awful rattles from the clutch or you're using the wrong oil/old oil, it's fine 🐷👍

@@PiggyPower Thank you, I'm getting better at using the clutch, as you said, banging it in. Sadly, I've had to swap the clutcharm back for the original as I've noticed the teflon coating on the clutch cable got scratched and cut by the bowden. I knew the angle at which the cable was comming into the bowden changed after the swap, that's a given and kinda the whole point of the longer MT-07 clutch arm. But I didn't think that with the cable touching the inner side of the bowden where it comes into it would cause damage this quickly or at all. I tried zip tying the metal elbow of the bowden to achieve a different angle of entry, with no avail. Figured I better switch back before I ruin a brand new cable. Have you encountered these issues? If so, how did you deal with them?

@@aleky98 others have and just adjusted the bracket holding the cable I believe. As regards clutch use... Unless in slow moving traffic or with a pillion, I don't use the clutch to change up, ever really, and down, just blip and tap.

Weird how on the fz6 you don't get further adjustment like on the R6. Might just try fitting the 5EB clutch cover and cable I have lying around on the fz6.
@PiggyPower
@PiggyPower 3 месяца назад
What further adjustment can you get from the R6 cable setup? I found after fitting this with the adjuster at the lever, I can get the clutch feel bob on tbh.
@redlinerichard77
@redlinerichard77 3 месяца назад
@PiggyPower It just gives it that little bit more feel and adjustment between the 5mm of Clutch freeplay you get at the lever. Haven't done the Clutch arm swap yet so at the moment the Fz6 sometimes feels very 'all or nothing' compared to the R6 in traffic and during u turns. Was very surprised you don't get that further adjustment given its mostly the same engine. Even my R125 had an adjuster after the lever. (Cost cutting I guess from Yamaha 🤷)

My FZ6 has an adjuster on the clutch lever?!
@redlinerichard77
@redlinerichard77 3 месяца назад
@@PiggyPower Their is a second tensioner on the r6, after the adjuster at the lever. That's what I'm trying to say 😆

@@redlinerichard77oh I see. Wonder what that's for then. As the adjuster on mine is all I need to get the bite exactly/wherever I need it
@disnk3503
@disnk3503 7 месяцев назад
Is there any other way to get bite point closer to the grips?
@PiggyPower
@PiggyPower 7 месяцев назад
Is it hurting your hand pal? You can adjust the bite point both at the clutch arm a little and at the lever itself.
@disnk3503
@disnk3503 7 месяцев назад
@@PiggyPower no its not hurting, just like when its closer, i tought that at the lever you can only adjust slack. Ty :)
@PiggyPower
@PiggyPower 7 месяцев назад
Yeah so... More slack... Would need you to pull the lever further. Ideally you should be using two fingers for the clutch to keep full control... So get that bite just before you crush your other fingers!
