This is a first look at the Creality CR-10 S5 3D printer, the largest member of the CR-10 family. It was provided to me for review at no cost by GearBest.com. Below you can find links to this printer as well as the CR-10 S4, the regular CR-10, the CR-10S, and the CR-10 Mini, plus coupon codes to reduce the prices. Below that are links to the models I printed in the video.

For your tower, tweak your retraction settings and also the temperatures and increase the part cooling fan speed so it cools your bridges faster of mod it with some blower fans. Also if you have time, print a new part cooling fan deflector so it hits the hot plastic a bit better. I would say that you print the bridging, temperature, and calibration models also to tweak it all so its perfect. Great video btw!

dude that is amazing. to solve the "flimsy" either in your slicer or on the printer when your done your solid bottom layers crank up the flow rate to 1.25 nice and thick. as for the seperations. for some things you can't use .24 layer. deviation from vertical will cause seperation. you need to lower the layer height. you accounted for this in the jaba with more perimeters. the more deviation from vertical the more perimeters you need OR the lower the layer height you need.

Hi nice informative vid, just wanted to ask if the size of the heated bed does not cover the whole build plate? I am planning on buying one but I am apprehensive on the build plate issue?
@MightyJabbasCollection
@MightyJabbasCollection 6 лет назад
Yes, it only has a partially heated bed. I only print in PLA so I'm not really sure if I even need the heated bed at all, but for some people this will be a disadvantage. You can get aftermarket heaters, but that's more money. My final review of this printer will be coming out very soon (within a day or two) so maybe keep an eye out for that.

You should print the Java things in Vase Mode or in Cura, under special settings you can pick "print outer contour" or something like that. It prints much faster.

Oh no, I thought my CR10 was big and you show me this one, now I'm insecure and wanting to buy the S5. I do hope they put a larger heat plate, one that covers the whole bed. Thanks for the vid man.

Every time I watch your 3D printing videos is makes me want to give it a try. I'm sure I would screw it up somehow though. Is there a Jabba's Palace model on any sites? That would be cool to print up nice and big.

I have successfully printed up to 1.2mm thick walls using a 0.4mm nozzle in vase mode. It actually works pretty well and the walls are MUCH stronger that way. I also don't get the ugly start-end on every layer.

Mighty Jabba's Collection suppose it's entirely possible to also print up a ceramics terra cotta extruder, or a airhempcrete version of that as well. That might lead to developing a 3d printed housing section to Thingiverse lol. Happy printing.

Hey! Thanks for your channel. Have your ever printed several small objects on a single 400 mm (cubed) bed at once? Assuming you are always near by your printer. . . do you find that faster than printing one small object at a time?
@MightyJabbasCollection
@MightyJabbasCollection 6 лет назад
Jason Westmas It’s probably a bit faster since you don’t have to restart the print each time, although with 3D printers in general I find that printing lots of things at once can sometimes yield lower quality than doing them separately, and if something fails they all fail. There’s also the option of having your slicer print them one at a time instead of doing one layer for all objects and then doing the next layer for all objects, etc. In that case you do need to be careful of the order so your nozzle doesn’t hit things you have already printed

I have the S5, your going to want the keenovo heater from tiny machines to heat the whole bed. Full 500x500 heated bed. Also turn on the manual mesh leveling to compensate. But I love my unit!
@bilalakyuz9866
@bilalakyuz9866 6 лет назад
what do you mean with manual mesh leveling?
@fluffybunnyz
@fluffybunnyz 6 лет назад
Mesh leveling can be turned on in the firmware. The new s5s does not need a boot loader to allow editing of the firmware. So I would highly recommend (if you know what your doing) to edit marlin, and upload the new firmware with mesh leveling and 4 points. What this will allow for, is issues with the bed itself being unlevel, and still getting perfect prints. Like auto leveling, only you take the 20 seconds it takes to make the adjustments.
@bilalakyuz9866
@bilalakyuz9866 6 лет назад
Now i am really interested. Unfortunately i am not at all experienced with editing firmware. Did i understand it right, that i could basically get the same effect as ABL if i edit the firmware? Are there any guides to do this? Big thanks in advance
@fluffybunnyz
@fluffybunnyz 6 лет назад
Exactly right. An abl or a BLtouch will do this automatically. I don’t mind taking the 30 seconds to do this manually. I’m not sure if there are many guides out there... and I may piss off those trying to make money off folks creating these devices. But, firmware is free, so is knowledge, and you should only get these devices if you want them.... not because people don’t tell you about the other solutions. I’m sure I’ll make a video on my channel at some point. Feel free to subscribe and I’ll push one out. Or if you have an S version I’ll just put the firmware someplace.
@bilalakyuz9866
@bilalakyuz9866 6 лет назад
fluffybunnyz well. Im definetely gonna subscribe and wait for that video. Weird that no on has ever mentioned this before. Thinning about it slightly makes it blatantly obvious that it should be pretty simple to do... Thanks for the heads up

@MightyJabbasCollection
@MightyJabbasCollection 6 лет назад
For all of the prints that were in colors (not white) I used MakerGeeks PLA filaments, which have a recommended nozzle temperature of 235 degrees (that's quite hot for PLA, but it seems to work). I think I just used 200 or 210 for the included white filament. The bed was set to 60 degrees and I used glue stick to help with bed adhesion.

Thanks for the video very interesting and great info! Question I haven't found anything out there about the "footprint" of the machine I know it's 500mm but I'd like to know the size of the printer. I have a counter-top that I'm thinking of putting it on but unsure if it will fit can you tell me the width of the machine or the width of that shelf you have it it on? Thanks!
@MightyJabbasCollection
@MightyJabbasCollection 5 лет назад
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have misplaced my tape measure, but according to TinyMachines (link below), the total occupied area (including the control box) is 32" width x 40.5" length with the table extending 6.5" beyond both front and rear. That sounds about right. It's really large. tiny-machines-3d.myshopify.com/products/creality-cr10s5

I would print the heat bed adjustment knobs and also some sort of strain relief for the heat bed cable. I have this printer and I have to say this is a very rose colored review. Ive had nothing but issues with this machine. The overall design didn't scale well. The z axis is a major problem. They hang two stepper motors off one side and nothing off the other, You can get away with this on smaller machine and not see any issues but when you have a gantry that's 20' long you cant. the two sides come out of alignment just enough to throw the bed leveling totally off. On top of that show stopper add that they used a bed heater that is way to small. Ive been struggling with mine for over a month and have yet to get the first layer laid down well. I give this machine a 3 out of 10 and wouldn't buy it again.
@MightyJabbasCollection
@MightyJabbasCollection 5 лет назад
To be fair, this wasn’t a review at all - just a first look at the printer to see what it could do. I made a separate review video that did explain a lot of the issues with this machine. While my conclusion wasn’t quite as negative as yours, I agreed that it has some problems and I don’t recommend the S5 compared to the smaller printers in the line for that reason.
