Related to the issues with the heart-shaped thing - it is not recommended to the print on the higher layer than 80% of your nozzle diameter. Assuming you use 0.4mm nozzle, it makes sense that individual layers did not stick together well.

Can I just say, seeing how many printers you have, makes me think if you have an addiction to 3d printing. Just kidding, even I would love to have as many 3d printers as I can get my hands on, problem is the funding. Great review bro, keep it up HE-MAN.

One useful tip when working with this printer, is I found a proper coating of ABS juice made from Acetone and ABS plastic kept in a glass jar with a metal lid, is the only way ABS prints will not curl and lift at edge points. To do proper ABS prints, the heatbed should be able to reach 110c, yet that isn't possible with this printer fresh out of the factory. Make sure you apply a fresh recoating of ABS juice with a paper towel before each print, or it will seem alot more like a lotto. Another useful tip due to the volume abilities of the printer, It makes sense to invest in larger nozzles for larger prints if the groovy look is OK with chair sized prints. You could pretty much print a go kart or custom mower deck with this thing. Nozzles can be redrilled if to save money in that dept, though I wouldn't go larger than 1. 5mm if using 1.75 mm filament. You can get filament in 3mm diameter also, or make your own filament with the proper area 52 upgrades for your science laboratory. Cheers!

Thanks for the insight!) I haven't used it for ABS myself, still it's nice to have the info in case I decide to try it )) for now I use my lulzbot taz when I do ABS and pretty much just use PLA on the others.

Reality Check VR You are welcome.' It's all about open sourcing this world. A better world for all tomorrow, sooner, today. Oh, another useful consideration, is to do a little research about adding a suitable MOSFET and a external power supply, perhaps one for a 20v laptop could be useful, inline between the printers controller card and the heatbed. This should prove to be a effective workaround solution to not needing a entire heatbed removal for an upgrade kit. Vulcan high5 \V/_

Hi There nerys, a hello from a chilly London UK, appreciate this video, even after so much time, i have bought one of these S4's, and awaiting delivery. a 3d Printing complete noobie here, tho i do have a far bit of cad experience - learnt a lot from this vid, does not feel so daunting to put this together and get it going. Granddaughter is very excited to see some stuff coming off this - appreciate the slow and methodical explanation as you are assembling this - wish me luck on getting some prints off of this, i can see that this has the potential to be a real time thief LOL, tata for now

The only down fall I've heard of is the heated bed is standard size 300mm x 300mm and not 500x500mm,like it should be.Great Video as Usually..You need more printers.lol
@RealityCheckVR
@RealityCheckVR 6 лет назад
yea it has a thermal shield kind of like Tevo Tornado, no doubt edges will not be as warm as the center, still for purposes of keeping a print to the bed, a heated center will still hold large parts well) I wonder how much more power a larger bed would use!) lol i dont want to use it on hot days here in Florida!

A question from someone who wants to buy his first 3D Printer. I checked the prices of this model, it starts from $230 (brand new still in package) and climbs up to $900. Why does it change this much? are those knock offs? Is there anything that I need to be careful when I am buying? Thank you for the video.
@RealityCheckVR
@RealityCheckVR 6 лет назад
Basically the sizes change! The original CR-10 is 300x300 and has one lead rod, the CR-10 S is 300x300 but is upgraded in several ways, then you have Cr-10 S4 which is 400x400 and CR-10 S5 which is 500x500mm. Knock Offs are like the Anet E10))) Basically you just need to find the size that suits you best! Hope that helps!

☝🏻Yesterday, I was jealous. Today, I'm still jealous. It's due to the gruelling months worth of duration that one must endure, due to waiting for today's purchased shipment of THAT exact same printer. Maybe that's enough time to build a kitchen island to make it cubicly contained. Vulcan high5 🖖🏻

Reality Check VR Thanx for asking! Yes! I've been making a bunch of signs with it, and groovy guitar models and painting the details of those. It's a happening machine for sure. Though, it appears Their idea of being able to print ABS with their heatbed means being OK with curled edges, due to the Temps maxing out at 83c with a clear plastic dropsheet acting as a desktop tent over it. Shocked to see the major difference in price between a upgraded heater for a S4, and a S5. There's only one aftermarket manufacturer for a S5 size heatbed too, so I admit that bugs me to see such gouging the customers on that one, for sure. So, been studying about how to make a heatbed using graphene, and might actually get around to creating competition at a more affordable upgrade price. There's a market for it obviously due to the number of people wanting to do justice to ABS prints. Cheers!

But the Amazon product page answers admits that the S5 only has a 310x310 heated bed.
@RealityCheckVR
@RealityCheckVR 6 лет назад
I think know what you mean, their is a metal plate that is 500mm in size on bottom but the insulated part of the heat bed is only 300mm in size. The rest of the bed still gets hot by proximity, but no doubt the edges are not as warm as the center. Still the whole bed DOES heat, I have used it often) (Takes a long time to heat) As long as the part isn't printed on the edges alone then you will not have any issues. Even the Tevo Tornado is similar in that the insulated part is smaller then the actual size of the bed
