I think the reason florals come back in fashion every spring is that people are so tired of winter every single year. 😂We deserve some florals after surviving winter!!

Haha, I agree!! It goes with the season!

For sure! Also because the winter fashion is commonly so sad and boring in colours.

Just stumbled on your site and was so glad. I am 73 and my mom taught me to sew a pair of shorts one day when I was 10. Waist band, zipper, plaques, button, pockets! I sewed all my clothes( and friends during college!)till my girls were little and then burned out. I’ve made quilts for years and watching your video I really want to make this dress! I know the muscle memory is still there………watching you go through the steps made me realize I have done this 100 times or more! So grateful I watched this. I’ll have to look for some Rifle fabric and head to JoAnn’s to look for some trim.

Lauren, this dress is truly stunning. I'm always so inspired by how your pieces look like they could be pulled off a rack at a fancy boutique. You have such an eye for detail (this trim!! I mean!), and these small touches really elevate everything you make. Thank you for sharing your sewing process with us. I learn so much!

Very pretty! Thanks for mentioning your cuff adjustment. I recently made a shirt dress and the cuffs were so big. The trim detail and buttons with loops were great additions!

The timing of this video is perfect- this pattern is on my spring “to-sew” list and I have everything sitting out and ready to start, but I’ve just been feeling intimidated and unmotivated. Seeing your beautiful dress was just the encouragement I needed! Your attention to detail is so inspiring and makes for such gorgeous and special pieces.

I’ve been following you for years now and I can’t believe I missed this recent video of yours. I love how you included the clip of the coffee before starting the project that just made me more motivated to plan my sewing projects this year. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

Love the lace trim! Makes the dress even more special. I’m wondering if you pinned with the decorative pin heads toward your right hand, if it would make removing them easier, quicker & more efficient since it looks as if you are right handed? Just a thought. Thanks for sharing your lovely spring project.

I’ve had that pattern sitting in my hoard for a few years now and I never get around to making it. I just know i’m going to have to adjust the upper bodice section. That’s nowhere near long or full enough to tuck my ((.)) ((.)) inside 😩 Yours turned out so pretty in that floral! The button loops and the narrow lace are a really nice touch too. Those features really elevated the entire dress. Lovely job!

Hi Lauren, this is so beautiful you've inspired me to incorporate trim! I love this dress pattern, it's very similar to a dress I have but the empire waist on mine is shirred instead of a corset style. I love having a little stretch in the waist - do you think it would be possible with this pattern to add a panel of shirring perhaps to the back bodice piece? Either centrally or at the sides?
@buzzi2k
@buzzi2k Год назад
I've just checked the pattern! I guess I would need to shorten the back panel and add a shirred waist section before the skirt

I don’t have any sewing friends to ask this question to so hopefully someone can help. I have a sleeveless shirred midi dress (several actually) that I bought. The arm holes, while sufficiently big enough to wear the dress, feel so short with my sensory issues. Do you have any tips on making an arm hole larger on a dress with shirring? I need probably another 1” down on the opening. It feels like the dress is IN my armpit 😂
@dillismoore432

Did you do the shirring in the green dress? Isn't shirring fun?! I enjoy it!
@RosalieJordan

Would you consider maybe making a little modesty panel to put into the V- neckline? I think you could make it V-shaped and it would fit into the dress very well. If you top stitched one side and used a hook and eye on the other? Wonderful work as always Lauren.

Just out of curiosity why didn’t you transfer your markings? Is it just a person preference To use the tissue paper to look for your markings?
@LaurenJohnson

I'd say a mix of personal preference and laziness! 😂 Sometimes I'll transfer them, but I'm not very consistent when it comes to the markings. Thanks so much for watching!
