So far, I like this Generator. I installed a vibration activated hour meter (No wires), and a magnetic dipstick. I run Amsoil small engine oil in it. I only have a few hours on it, but have one small concern. It's getting harder to start every time. New, it was first pull. Now, after only 3 hours, it takes 5-6 pulls.

Hello Peter, First - thanks for purchasing one of our products. The SC2000i is our best seller! I have this same unit myself. RE: 5-6 pulls - I did forward your message above to our service manager. He concurred - this unit should start and both the service manager and lead engineer wondered if you are using ethanol fuel? These units may run on ethanol but prefer and run best on non-ethanol gas. We suggest regular / no ethanol added fuel if possible. We have ethanol in our fuel here in WI but we also have some stations that have "no ethanol added" options. Both asked if unit had been sitting but based on your brief info I didn't think so. If it does sit longer than 30 days - we do recommend a fuel stabilizer as fuels could begin to varnish in fuel system. This could cause a few more pulls. www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2013/03/gas-with-ethanol-can-make-small-engines-fail/index.htm This could explain more. Ethanol also attracts water so environmental conditions may have negative affect too. If this does continue / gets worse - our service people are standing by... Unlike most companies selling such units, we have real people on other end of the line based in the US at our company HQ. You may reach us in one of 4 ways: 1. Please call our toll free number 855-888-3598 2. Or call our California number service center at: 909-923-2068 3. email us at support@@t. 4. A-iPower Corporation thanks for the product I just ordered 2 from Costco $450. Each is that a fair price? The Cali power outages scared a lot of people into panic buying, will two new fridges 20 cu ft Westinghouse need more than 1 unit, or will I need to parallel them?is the a schematic showing how to parallel two Yammi's? Thanks
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 4 года назад
Hello Larry, First - thank you for purchasing our SC2000i inverter generators. We appreciate your business. These are great units! Second - RE: power needed for the 20 cu ft refrigerators - these are very general #'s but an average 20-21-cubic-foot side-by-side refrigerator-freezer demands about 780 watts when in operation. We also need to be concerned about surge power. This is the power needed for the initial start-up. This can be as high as twice the running power. Third - Paralleling your two units. Please read your manual - specifically page 22 which explains/illustrates this procedure. Know our process to link is very simple; Unplug all cords from your units and shut them down. Connect the included parallel cords to appropriate color coordinated outlets then start both units as normal and for safety - ground as needed. Lastly, I'd recommend "staggering" the start-up of the fridge's. Meaning, plug the first one and make sure it is up and running prior to plugging in second unit. This will avoid both units starting / surging at same time and help eliminate the risk of throwing a breaker. Hope this helps! Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

Purchased one recently. The spark plug reference on the unit cites NGK BP4H but when I pulled the plug, it is actually an NGK BPR6HS (which is the same plug that's in a Yamaha EF2000iS).
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 6 лет назад
Hello DrBigWanton, Sorry for delay getting back in touch but wanted to research on this. Prior iterations of the SC2000i had the Torch E5T plug which is what your manual, pg 29 (or possibly page 19 if smaller digest size) will state. Yamaha, on occasion, may substitute in a different make as they did here. The BP4H is s slightly warmer plug than the 6HS plug in yours. If you have access to 6HS at local parts store - I'd use the 6HS as I always try to keep things stock. In regards to the cross referencing plugs - there can be some slight variation. Our engineers determined the Champion L95YC can be used for either the NGK BP4H, BP5H and BP6H as can the Autolite 4123. The Torch E5T / E5RTC crosses to a NGK BP5H. So all are in same general heat range which is important thing. Also, make sure the gap is correct on your plug of choice: .07mm or .028". I hope this helps, Joe A-iPower Milwaukee, Wi

Love this generator! Can I use eco throttle with two generators running together? Also heard you need to bond neutral to ground on the spare outlet if you are running shore power on a RV with a surge protector.( otherwise it detects a floating neutral and will not run!)
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Will, So sorry for the response bern late. I had to apologize to many posters on RU-vid as for some reason notifications stopped working for short time and I missed many inquiries. If not too late - I did pose you question to our Service Director. Here is his response: No problem on running two units in parallel, but should not surpass 1600 running watts combined while in ECO mode. The units are intended to run at 50% consumption load with the unit in ECON mode. That is correct on bonding neutral to ground for your RV. If it has a surge protector, the generator itself needs to be neutrally bonded. Attaching the grounding lug on the front panel won’t do it. You need to contact your local RV supplier for an adapter, or you can order one online. I supplied a link for you. Hope this helps. Thanks, A-iPower.

I really need one like this that is or has electric switch start as well. Were I’m putting it it will have plenty of ventilation but not really any room for pull start. Does one exist for my needs?
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Zeroplanetz, Ironically - we do have 2 electric start inverter generators but will not be hitting market until October - November of this year - so I understand this won't help you now. These will also be higher wattages, built in mobility kits but will have a larger footprint and slightly higher retail prices. In the 2kW output range, these smaller units typically do no have e-start due to space limitations. I've tested most of them. If you need something immediately, I might suggest you review the Westinghouse inverters generators. I believe they have an electric start open frame inverter at a decent price/good options but it is also a larger footprint. Just an idea - have you considered one of those cabinet inserts that allows a user to pull in and out a wastebasket - I wonder if something like this would fit your space, allowing you to pull out of area, start, then slide back in? Thinking out loud... Also - I am glad you mentioned that your area has good ventilation. Very important to assure your safety when using. Hope this helps, Joe A-Power - Milwaukee

Will this unit run off the Berg extended run fuel tank
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Good Afternoon David, To be honest - I am aware but never used the Berg extended run fuel tank. We, like most manufacturers, frown on aftermarket items being used / added to a factory unit as they can affect flow of air or exhaust or other running variables which unit was not designed for (no different than an ATV or other manufacturer voiding their warranties if an aftermarket airbox, PRAMM, exhaust or other is added.) This being only an enhanced fuel tank and not affecting actual flow of fuel through unit - and after speaking to one of our engineers, we both felt there would be no concern using such a system. Again, without having an actual unit to use/check, fitment of Berg gas cap is unknown on our unit. Double check to see if they have a fitment guide. Our SUA2000i cap will fit on our SC2000i. Good luck, Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

Does the inverter produce a pure sine wave.
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 4 года назад
Good Morning Austin, Yes, this unit produces a clean sine wave - making them safe for use with any sensitive electronic devices. The SC2000i inverter generator (along with its twin - the SUA2000i) have a THD of 5% or less (probably closer to 3%) - so yes, we have a curve rather than a chunky wave, providing smoother and more reliable power as it's converted for your use. I hope this helps. Anything else - let me know. Cheers, Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

How big of a difference in the Senci engine and yamaha engine as far as life expectancy /Quality and senci 3yr vs the 2yr for yamaha warranty
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 4 года назад
Hello Dunno, Good question - I am very familiar with both the A-iPower 79cc and Yamaha 79cc engines. Please know that both engines must meet exact same certifications and endurance testing with USA emissions (EPA and CARB). In addition, both units are subjected to our own reliability testing. We do not have different expectations for either engine, both have same level of power and both achieve the same results before releasing to public. Life expectancy should be the same for both and to achieve this - please follow the recommended service intervals (found in manual) such as changing oil after the first month of use or 20hrs (or sooner under extreme condition). I will admit that the Yamaha engined unit does have a slightly different, more pleasing tone when running under load. When idling and in low-idle mode, the difference is almost non-existent IMO. I hope this helps - Joe A-iPower Milwaukee

Good Morning Dunno, Great question - as I should have known this.... I contacted our engineers this AM to ask your question. Both 79cc engines have cast iron sleeves - not steel. I also asked which is better and was told that steel sleeved cylinder walls are typically thinner. I knew all of our larger CC engines all have cast iron sleeves too but never thought to ask if our inverter engines did also (including the Yamaha 79cc). Glad you asked as I learned something too today! Does this help? Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

Hi, about spark plugs... I dont own a torque wrench, do you guys have any 'by hand' torque suggestion? Say 1/4 or 1/2 turn... after a 2 finger snug plug. Or how bout a 'clock' method.. from 12 to 3 o' clock? Just wondering. Thank you!
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Kessler, I maintain and change many plugs in my toys. While I have a torque wrench - I typically do not get it out. My bad.... but, what I typically do is once the plug seats itself, I snug down with another twist but never too hard. Keep in mind, many OHV heads in these small, lightweight engines are aluminun and the thread areas of plugs are steel. If cranking down a plug with lots of muscle - the steel will "win" and you could strip the head. I have never looked at it as an o'clock such as with a oil filter as they say once gasket seats, turn another 1/4 turn. Good idea but I simply go by feel. I am also sending your question to our service manager - I'll see if he has any input to add. Cheers, Joe A-iPower Milwaukee
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Again Kessler, I did get some additional info from our service manager - he wanted to expand on my response below to give more details on the washer for brand new plugs: **New plugs come with a “crush” washer that is designed to flatten out upon installation. If you tighten the plug slowly, you can actually feel the washer as it flattens out. After you hand tighten the plug, begin turning the plug wrench slowly. The resistance will remain pretty much even until somewhere between ½ - 2/3 turns. At that point you would have completely crushed the washer, and the plug will get noticeably tighter. This is where you would stop. If you remove the plug and then re-install, you will only need 1/8 - ¼ turn max since the crush washer will already be flattened. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much, nice tips. BTW, do you recommend any fuel stabilizer/treatment for this inverter?
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
No problem... RE: Fuel stabilizer - I live in WI and we have ethanol in our fuels. So yes, I do recommend if storing for 1 month or more. If not used for under a month - I typically will start and run to operating temperature every few weeks to avoid condensation / moisture build up. As we know, ethanol attracts moisture. If storing for an extended time - we suggest draining unused fuel from tank and draining the carb bowl. This can be difficult given the tight engine compartment on these inverters so I will tip the unit to it side to remove excess fuel back in to gas can then run the unit dry. Hope this helps? How to change it’s oil?
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Luis, Good question - it is easy. 1. Remove large blue panel on opposite side of recoil. There are 2 philips screws at top that need to that need to be removed. 2. Once off, you'll see the oil dipstick in lower right as you look at unit. This opening serves two purposes - to fill and drain. Remove dipstick and let oil drain out of unit. 3. Refill with SAE 10W-30. Many people ask about synthetics - while good, the added expense is not needed - name brand conventional and / or semi-snyth. is just fine. 4. Capacity: You'll note there is a small gray decal on lower right off side panel you took off - this shows capacity: .4qt - .38L - 12.8oz. 5. Once filled, assure level reaches within the hash marks on dipstick and you are set! Remember: As noted in manual - initial oil change is recommended after one month or 20 hours. After that 6 months or 100 hours of use. Enjoy your inverter! Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Tom, First - Please know all of these inverter generators in this category are carbureted. Ours is no different. Higher altitudes limits power output - the higher up you go, the thinner the air and less HP and power will be generated. Around 5000-6000, I am guessing you are running at about 85% of the 1600 watt running power. 9000-10,000, probably 65-70%. You start losing power around 4,000 feet. Second: The good news is we do offer a high altitude kit. We sell through our parts department in California. You may reach them via 1 of 4 methods: 1. HI Frank, I've got your question in to our service director and lead engineer but may not expect a response until Monday. See this review / question: January 7, 2019 Ok so I am not an electrician so hopefully somebody that knows will answer. I am buying this for the exact same reason as you are as I am not going to power anything 240v with my inverter generator. The inverter generator is supplying a single phase hot wire. If your gen trans is only wired to 120v circuits then this should work it will make the connection and supply single phase 120 through both hot lines (red and black) coming in through the 4 prong connection. I think that problems will arise if you try to use this get 240v, which you simply won't be able to because you have single phase. If you were going to use this then I would get rid of that 240v circuit and add in another 120. Does this help? Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

Hello Jay, I rec'd this info for your two posts from our Service Director and Lead Engineer: 1. RE: Gen Set Stalling --- Please make that you are only using the generator at 50% usage load when the Eco throttle mode is enabled. (No more than 800 running watts in ECO mode) The spark plug should be changed every 100 hours according to the manual, so I would definitely change that, and add some fuel stabilizer to see if it helps. SPARK PLUG INFO: Your stock plug for the SC2000i, 79cc Yamaha is the NGK BPR6HS. (your manual may say BPR4H but the 6HS is preferred plug in most recent production runs). You may cross reference / switch the BPR6HS with: AutoLite 275, Champion RL95YC, AC Delco R43FS. GAP: .028" or .7mm 2. RE: ECO Throttle Not Working --- Possible intermittent connection at ECO throttle connector location. (Due to vibration) Customer can remove the 4 screws on the front panel, and verify the connectors on the back side. The panel pops right out. Specifically the ECO throttle cable. I hope this helps and I am very sorry for late response. Joe A-iPower, Milwaukee

How has it held up so far ? And whats warranty on machine? And is it easy for changing oil and does it have way to drain fuel easy?
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Dunno, To answer your questions --- your warranty is 2 yrs for individual use. Drain fuel: Good question - you have a few options here but keep in mind that it depends on if unit is going to be in storage for extended amount of time, the make-up of you full (ethanol vs. non-ethanol / oxygenated fuels in your area, etc.) If your unit will not be in use for an extended amount of time - what I do with my small gas engines is - if tank is near full, tipping unit to pour out excess fuel and put back in to your gas container / can. You may also run the unit dry at this point - meaning start unit and let it run out of gas. If unit is sitting for month or so, I'd recommend a fuel stabilizer. This helps prevents your fuel from absorbing moisture. Our Multi-Switch not only shuts off the engine but also shuts off fuel but fuel does remain in float bowl. The stabilizer helps this fuel. If you want complete protection from varnish, etc. you can drain the float. While it is tight in these smaller inverters, it can be done. RE: Changing your oil - this is very easy / convenient. After removing two screws on side panel, it exposes the drain / add oil spout. Remove the cap and tip unit to its side to drain. There is even a handy little ramp that helps eliminate oil spillage in to the carcass of the machine. We recommend refilling with SAE 10W-30 conventional oil. Capacity: 12.8 oz, / .4 qt. Refer to your manual fo changing intervals as this depends on your use (length of use, full or half power, dirty conditions, etc.). Many people ask about using synthetic oils but as long as you follow recommended change intervals, no need to spend extra for a syn. oil. @@@@@@ This is a great unit. the engine is quiet - very well built. I have this unit for personal use and love it. You can buy two of these for cost of one Honda and get the Yamaha engine - bonus! Hope this helps - Joe A-iPower

Hello Edgar, Do you know how what HP rating your wet/dry vac is rated at? Not knowing this info - here are some very general power demands of typical wet vacs: 1.5-7 HP - you will need 900-1000 watts to run this unit. 2.5 HP - this will require 1300-1400 watts. What is the proper way to storage this inverter for two months , do I need to remove the gas ? Thanks
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Cal-Metal, This is a great question - IMO - you are right on the cusp of simply using a fuel additive and/or running tank dry. Question - do you have ethanol mixed fuel where you live? Ethanol attracts moisture and can hasten degradation of fuel if sitting for long time. If you do not have ethanol and/or are able to fill up with pure gas - I'd say for 2 months - you would be fine storing with just a fuel stabilizer. Add correct amount then start unit and make sure it runs long enough for mixed fuel to get through system. Many people add stabilizer but don't start unit. If you do have ethanol in your fuel, it certainly would not hurt to run unit dry. What I personally do - since I admit - it is hard to reach bowl in all these little inverters, is tip unit to drain as much fuel as possible back in to gas can then run balance to end and unit konks out. If you don't want to go the fuel drain route and you do have ethanol in fuel - I'd recommend stabilizer then if you could - try and start unit at least once during the 2 months storage. Hope this helps? Cheers - Joe A-iPower Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Thanks for responding and in an incredibly speedy fashion. I have seen multiple reviews of this product and none of them had any form of dipstick they simply had the plug/screw. Many of them also claim that the close to half quart of oil provided is more than what the unit holds. I put then entire amount of the provided oil in since the manual claimed "Provided" regarding this step. I have also seen in a review that the oil needs to be changed every 20 hours for the life of the machine. Instructions say different. We had to use this the other day and it worked incredibly well!

@a-ipowercorporation1454 4 года назад
Good Friday Morning Donni, My pleasure responding as oftentimes, I learn from many of the posts and we all know how important reviews are in making a decision on a product such as this. Inverters are expensive and will be with you for years to come. The final decision must be a good one. A-iPower is aware of this and we have targeted / positioned ourselves to offer more content at same or better price / watt. Your Yamaha powered unit is perfect example when compared to say the excellent EU2000i Honda. To address your observations. Dipstick: I erred - our SUA2000i - which features our own 79cc engine, does have a dipstick end. This is the same unit as the SC2000i but no Yamaha engine. You are correct - the Yamaha engine has only the plug type cap. Just make sure oil comes up to the threads and you’ll be set when checking on a level surface. Keep in mind your unit does have low oil shutdown. RE: Crankcase capacity - couple of things here. The provided oil does have a couple of additional ounces more than needed. There is also residual oil left in crankcase from factory as each unit has gas and oil added, tested then drained prior to shipping. Just add/maintain oil level within the threads and you’ll be fine as it is hard to overfill as it will simply overflow. RE: Change intervals - note in your manual that is says “Initial” oil change is 1 months or 20 hours of use. After this - it is 6 months or 100 hours. It is a great unit - the perfect mix of well known brand, very good content and great price. This is one of our best selling units. It will serve you well! Cheers, Joe A-iPower - Milwaukee

@@a-ipowercorporation1454 Fantastic! Thanks again! I did simply empty oil into the motor until some came out but I prepared for this based on experience in life with spills over time. A little came out so I just cleaned it up and, based on what I saw and what you just said, there doesn't seem to be any way to over fill this unit. Funny story; I thought we had the Eco option turned off. We didn't! I am shocked how much power we got out of this tiny machine. WOW!! Granted I have never used a gen before but I was still overly impressed. I have one last question for you; I see there is an "Overload" light for output overload. When would that come on and wouldn't the machine just shut down? I'd rather see a fluctuation in our power use through dimming lights or weird sounds than having the machine simply shut off though. However I do see the machine also has it's own breaker which is very helpful. Thanks again! Hope your Friday is fantastic!
@a-ipowercorporation1454
@a-ipowercorporation1454 4 года назад
Hello Donni, RE: Overload: Good question - if you were to overload your unit - the Overload light will come on and stay on until load is reduced. Meanwhile, the engine will continue to run. Be aware. To reset, turn off devices you have plugged in, remove the cords, shutdown engine and restart. To your point - you may see the overload light flicker/come on for a few seconds when a device such as an air compressor kick on then settles down once motor is spinning. You are still getting power but know this is due to your unit being able to handle "surge" or brief spikes in power up to 2000W. You can hear machine working harder based on demand - this will be a subtle warning but once it reaches the tipping point, it will shut power off without warning to protect itself and possibly device/s plugged in. Hope this helps! Joe

Hello Dave, Great observation / question.... There are many attempts to standardize dBA levels by the SAE - much is still different depending on source / manufacturer. @@a-ipowercorporation1454 I did read the reviews, at your recommendation, and have to say the reports of poor customer service , non-starting, low power output and leaking oil and petrol caused concern. Back to my original point - It's misleading calling it a review when its your own product. Manufacturers do not "review" their own products because it's simply not possible for them to be unbiased. Confirming that statement your review was entirely positive without a single negative aspect being raised. It's not a review - its an advertisement misleadingly labeled a review. Nice to hear that you have stopped the practice of giving away free units for "review". Having watched one of those free units being reviewed it appears suspiciously like the family reviewing the unit were given a script to read, by the supplier. Again. Not a review, more an advertisement. On a more constructive note I would strongly suggest that you redesign your parallel cable system to utilise a single keyed port on each unit with a 2 core cable that can only be connected in the proper way. While I appreciate that the cables are colour coded they are both the same size and it appears that they could possibly be connected wrongly, and why provide 2 separate cables when a single 2 core cable removes that danger? Having 2 cables just increases the chances of losing one. And if its' really about customer convenience - why not include a pocket / storage place on/in the generator case to store the accessories in the generator?

However, some retail outlets do their own videos which we have no control over (like etailer.com), doing so to increase their own sales of the unit and possibly others. RE: Leaking oil comment - I did see the review where customer states leaking oil in back of truck. @a-ipowercorporation1454 5 лет назад
Hello Rob, I am sorry I didn't see this sooner - for some reason I did not get a notification. RE: Your concern about not being able to run unit dry - you are correct - when shutting off the unit via our multi-switch, it does shut engine off and cut fuel, not allowing you to purge the float, etc. What I've recommended to other users below if needing to store this unit for any extended times of non-use is to drain excess gas from tank by simply tipping unit on its side back in to gas can. Then fire it up and run dry. This is the best way to store your unit as most fuel sources now contain ethanol and this type of fuel attracts moisture and can do so while in tank. The water settles under gas and is the first thing that enters carb/engine upon next start. While we do have people that will drain bowl - it is a tight fit inside these inverter type gan sets so I personally do not go that method. For my units I have in the garage, I typically start every month or so and I do keep a little fuel stabilizer in them to assist. I hope this helps, Joe A-iPower Milwaukee, Wis

About sound levels: This unit in tested based on SAE parameters and has a sound output of 58dBA while running at 50% load at 7M/21' in an open environment. This is the unwritten standard in the gen set world and based on my experience being in this industry for over 10 yrs - falls in the in the top half of the quieter inverters in this category. Unlike most companies selling such units, we have real people on other end of the line based in the US at our company HQ. You may reach us in one of 4 ways: 1. Please call our toll free number 855-888-3598 2. Or call our California number service center at: 909-923-2068 3. email us at support@a-ipower.com. 4. Or proceed to this link: www.a-ipower.com/service-support/contact-us/ fill out form and we will be in touch. **Please be prepared to show proof of purchase.** Dan - you did mention the oil was good. To double check - was it at the proper level? I ask since this unit has low oil shutdown and will not start if oil level is too low. Agreed - you should not have to check spark plug or air-filter on a new unit such as our SC2000i. We sell thousands of these units and their return rate is well under industry norms. I also feel it would be very odd/rare to have 4 units not performing/starting so I know our service director would be interested in learning why or what is happening. Please reach out to us. Thank you, Joe - A-iPower Milwaukee

Not a big fan of waiting around for a tech’s attention but next time I have an issue I will call first. With any kind of luck that won’t be necessary. Per the oil issue, I naturally assume that, if it were too low, when I changed it that would rectify the situation and the unit would then start up, at least eventually, but each unit didn’t after numerous pulls while also turning the starting knob and pushing the eco button. It’s a 1 and a half hour trek one way for me to get to Costco, so I don’t take the returning of a unit lightly. Let’s hope the issue is resolved. Thanks for your response.

Hello Dan, To be clear - the unit you have now is running? What cleared up the issue on your end do you think? I did notify our service director on this issue so he is aware there was a customer that had multiple units not perform. As mentioned - if you contact our service center - if goes to a person at A-iPower not an outside service so you will not have the wait experienced with other consumer products. In addition, I know he'd want to understand more about this situation. Hope this helps... Joe - A-iPower

Joe, I got a new unit on Thursday, 1/2. I just started it up, no problem, but it’s only been three days. Let’s see what happens by next week, the week after, etc. FYI, I live off the grid and need the generator every day, so between that and wasting over 3 hours round trip to get a new unit, I need a reliable generator. If this generator is insufficient I will look elsewhere. Any suggestions are welcome.
