I work with pitbulls. They're all muscle and have a high prey drive. There is NOTHING JJ's sisters could have done - once those dogs focused on JJ, that was it. Their father is right, they would have only been injured trying stop the attack. Too many pitbulls are owned by people who have no business owning them. They are NOT beginner dogs and they are NOT nanny dogs. The owner sounds like he shouldn't have had one, let alone five. It's a true miracle and blessing JJ is alive. The world is brighter with him still in it.

I know; that brought tears to my eyes too! It's like, just celebrating the small things that JJ is HERE to eat the chip... He made me think of a little neighbor girl, a toddler, whose family dog, a pitbull, bit her in the face not once, but twice before they got rid of him/put him down, and that after they swore up and down he'd never hurt anyone or anything... I'm totally bias here, but I feel glad that if I had to fall in love with any breed, I'm so glad it ended up being standard poodles... A pitbull could be the best-trained dog in the world, and I'd still be very wary because it seems like toddlers/small children, especially, are easy pickings for them, even in their own family.

As a clinical psychotherapist, I watched the JJ story in amazement. This family is phenomenal in their resilience, devotion, and strength. JJ reflects the family dynamic of working together through challenges no matter what. His joy mirrors his family's heart and the love surrounding him. His sister's feelings of guilt come from wanting to protect their baby brother but simply being unable to and hopefully will subside with time. Their feelings simply come from a place of love for JJ and in some way thinking they might have been able to do something when reality was they could not. Those feelings are part of the thread of love that binds this family together. It is a powerful fierce force that has enabled JJ to thrive and to become the feisty, confident,, fun, strong little man he is today.

What a beautiful family! Everyone has obviously been affected by what happened, but they are able to talk about it and be forthright with emotions. The fact that the mom was willing to homeschool for two years so the girls could recover shows how devoted they are to healing as a family. They were NOT neglectful; the little boy was supervised by a sibling old enough to babysit, and no one, not even an adult (other than the dog owner), could have done anything to prevent an attack by five dogs at once. At the end of the video, the dad says that people should choose their dogs carefully, but he doesn't appear to be consumed with bitterness. People need to realize, it doesn't matter if you aren't abusing pitbulls. They have territorial/fighting instincts that can happen at any moment even if they are "harmless" or "big babies". I have seen a few well taken care of pitbulls attack someone before. Given the right circumstances, they can turn aggressive and it pisses me off when ignorant pit owners act as if their dog "would never harm a fly"🙄. When they are in groups especially, they act as a pack and if one attacks, *they ALL attack* . You can never be 100% sure and since I've had my son, i don't allow him around any known aggressive breeds, alone or even near them. Being safe is better than being oblivious.

What a horrifically tragic story. Makes me sad aswell to hear JJs siblings talk about their survivors guilt, poor family. What a miracle he survived.

He’s incredible to have survived. Incredible. I remember when he was attacked, I prayed for him and his family.

@@AS-qg1xulast I heard (maybe a year ago) the owner pretty much got away free. Even got to keep some of the dogs. I'm trying to find newer information and some people are saying the dog owner has died.

As a mother hearing, "I broke." I felt that in my soul. This family is stronger than I have ever had to be, and I hope their future is filled with healing and joy.

JJ looks amazing. Wonderful, caring parents. His sisters broke my heart. My middle daughter died of pediatric cancer and my youngest daughter is forever changed just like these young ladies. Went from social butterfly, boisterous and outgoing to quiet with social anxiety despite counseling. It’s just hard to relate to normal people who have been fortunate enough to avoid unimaginable trauma in life. I hope this family continues holding onto each other. ❤

I would like to thank chris for posting this video. I've always been a fan of this channel but never has a video impacted me so personally, as someone who experienced an attack by this breed and who will never fully feel safe ever again. I did not experience even half of what JJ did but the fear in his parents eyes, just talking about the situation was one that I could relate to. It never leaves you.

The trauma is so on their faces. I feel so bad for them. The guilt factor is so real yet you couldn’t have stopped those dogs unless you had a gun right there waiting. I’m so sad for little JJ, although I pray that his attitude and positivity stays with him all his life. I am amazed at his parents, their love and strength will get him through everything. JJ’s siblings feelings are so real and the trauma is so real for them. Survivors guilt is the hardest to shift. They deserve to get over this, I hope they do as it’s the last thing JJ wants. I truly wish them all the very best for their sutures.

Kudos to those surgeons, his face looks amazing! He has now a cool story to tell his peers. "I fought 5 pitbulls when I was a baby, I'm super badass"

He looks super incredible tbh. But I worry about when he becomes a teenager or pre-teen and starts to become more conscious of the way he looks. I hope he takes it as well as he can.

It was so hard to watching the parents when they were talking about the attack. I feel the pain in their voices and stares. You both are amazing parents and JJ is one of kind, amazing boy. I wish ur family a good life.

What a precious little boy ❤️ I absolutely love his spirit. This one brought me to tears. It’s so sad seeing the family relive the trauma as they tell his story. I can’t even imagine. I hope they’re all getting the therapy and help they need to heal.
