Dear knitters - or any makers or curious individuals; you are all most welcome here. BUT - the video will, not surprisingly, be about knitting, specifically the many considerations, modifications and what-not that I had when I began planning and knitting a sweater I had had in my queue for a while. If you're not planning to knit this sweater, I hope some of my thoughts and comments might be useful for other projects instead. I myself pick up random ideas and advice in the most unlikely videos where people talk about projects I'm never going to knit, and it all gives me insight into the craft and hopefully makes me a better or at least a more mindful knitter. I hope you might feel the same in some small way, with this video; if not, it might keep you company while you knit. I'm honored that you stopped by and spent a few moments with me.
If you have any questions regarding anything I mention (or don't mention) in the video, please don't hesitate to ask me in the comments here or on Instagram/Ravelry. All the best, Helle.
My name on Instagram: @helles.knitting.journal
My name on Ravelry: Libenholt (where I'm a bit less active)

I also found your discussion very interesting! I’m a fairly new knitter, only three years in, but I’ve loved crochet and sewing clothing most of my life. So all your thoughts on this sweater are wonderful! Especially since I don’t really know anyone personally that knits! Thank you!

Hello, your podcast was suggested to me by You tube, so I watched all the knitting content, then binge watched all your travel blogs. So today I’ve been with you to Edinburgh, Paris, Mont Blanc, and all your wonderful sights around your home and city. I’m a retired nurse, live alone with my Shetland sheepdog Cooper, and love your calm and thoughtful podcasts. Keep it up, and just know that you are appreciated. ❤️

Another happy hour spent learning something new about knitting. Your color choices and the fades of both background and foreground yarns is a real eye opener. Of course the sweater is beyond lovely, but learning your plan of incorporating so many neutrals with your subtle colors is a treat. Thank you so much. I love spending time here with you and your other admirers. Good work!

Oh I just found your channel and I love it! Hello from Australia where it is warm and sunny and full of light. My parents and I moved here when I was a child from Ireland and it was the best thing they have ever done for me, I can’t imagine not living in this type of weather. I’m thoroughly enjoying your channel, knitting, travel and life. I’m going through your older videos now. I’m a pandemic knitter after having learnt as a child. I did a scrappy striped sweater, but I had no scraps! I’ve been dying my own yarn so I dyed up all sorts of colours, way out of my comfort zone colours, and it was so much fun. I do like your muted colour combination in this sweater though, very inspiring. Thanks for sharing and happy knitting, Karen 🥰

Thank you so much Helle for taking the time to explain this, it's so kind of you to share all your considerations and decisions and in such an articulate way. That was amazing to hear all the process and details, love to watch all of your videos, they are beautiful and interesting. I am working on the Karelia pullover with the fun flower motif in the circular yoke. That Estonian weaving into the knitting was so fun, and to play with the colors I chose for the flowers and then the leaves, some in mohair and some in wool. The main body of the sweater I used a deep wine colored rustic wool, sport weight. I very much enjoy your nature walks, the gorgeous scenery and variety of houses in various parts of Denmark. Of course the travel videos as well, so interesting to watch. Must add that I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick Canada . Thank you for making these great videos.

"There's a lot of right: it's whatever makes you happy". I love this sentiment, Helle, and I love spending time in your company! You have a wonderful presence and wisdom. Your Spot sweater is amazing, thanks for sharing so much about your experience and approach to knitting it. I'd love to make my own version now. 🤍

Thanks Helle - I purchased a kit of the most beautiful (& hideously expensive) Art Yarns Silk/Mohair in greys & acid green for this jumper from The Knitting Place in the US 12 months ago..... I haven’t tackled it yet so value this information, very helpful if not slightly scary!

Hi Helle…Greetings from Wisconsin. I’m so glad RU-vid suggested your knitting “podcast” episodes to me. I viewed most of all 3 while enjoying some Sunday morning knitting on this cold and sunny day. It’s a great day for hearing about warm garment projects. I’m now about 8 rows from binding off a Shift cowl project (pattern by Andrea Mowry) which is destined to be a birthday gift for a lifelong friend later in the year. Looking forward to your next episode. Happy Spring…almost❣️
