Lando wasn't a good character, objectively. He had a dozen lines and three expressions; Heyyyy I'm a scummy politician, Heyyy we didn't agree to that, Heyy I'm blowing your shit up. He got a little more texture and motivation when he was played by Donald Glover but that was Disney and most folks don't like to give them credit. Comparatively Reva has background, motive, and has shown a range of emotion. She stands to be given a complete arc as a character arc over the Obi Wan Series. She's been given a better opportunity than just about any person of color in Star Wars, how they fuck that up is on them, but complaining about her is racist.

Admiral Daala, Winter, Juno Eclipse, Salla Zend, Guri. So many female protagonists and antagonists permeated the the old EU with nary a real world political angle. KK and her brood of ideologues aren’t breaking any new ground.

Something I'm glad is brought up in all of this. Personally, my favorite story in the Star Wars Series which is a book is The Courtship of Princess Leia. The elements that play into that story is quite phenomenal and plays on the strengths and weaknesses of each major player in the aftermath of the Empire's defeat. You have Han winning a planet in a bet to then kidnap Leia to out of jealousy because he thought he was losing her to some snot-nosed prince to finding out this planet is filled with warring and peaceful tribes that are incredibly adept in the ways of the force. You have most of the main cast coming together to fight a coven of force witches that are wildly formidable and give the group quite the difficult time up to the end of the book. If they had done something like that instead of the disney non-canon trilogy and rouge one which people only really like for the last 10 minutes of the movie (don't lie to me and say anything else about that movie was good), then disney would have been wildly successful. They had a grand number of stories and they labeled them all as non-canon. The amount of characters from all of the books, games, cartoon shows, and comics they had to work with would have made for great toys, movie appearances (Star Wars The Force Unleashed because the man that played that character is that character how can you fuck that up?). But these are all topics we have all said before and disney is missing far too many chromosomes to have even thought of marketing it in that way. Too late now with Fisher dead, Ford not caring, and Hamell's integrity of his character drowning in bluish/green milk.

Honestly I have always collected most of the ships, and only some black series figures, but there is nothing Star Wars related that inspires me these days.

Once paid over 40 bucks for that black series R2 from series one. Just to complete the black series Landspeeder from ep4. I even had to get a cloth bottom to modify Obi-Wan since he didn't fit in the Landspeeder with the original plastic clothing, sigh. I am just a bit uninspired when it comes to star wars at this time, sorry. Disney seem not to know how to keep their fans happy. It is a shame really.

When I was a kid (and even as an adult), I enjoyed Droids (especially over Ewoks). Droids felt more like Star Wars.... even if the animation was near akin to the animated sequence from (shudder) The Star Wars Holiday Special. It was great that they got Anthony Daniels to voice Threepio back then. I do have the Gladiator-class Star destroyer from the table top game, Armada, of which, one of those ships was owned (IIRC) by space pirate Kybo Ren Cha. (The table top model is gorgeous, and I was glad to see it brought in more realistic light in its practical form)

Hasbro is making Droids figures to compete with indie repro toy makers like Stan Solo who sell their own versions.

Star Wars had already been declining for years before Disney bought it. I initially had hopes that they would reverse that trend but instead they took it from a decline to a nosedive off a cliff.

@@francoisregis2155 Well, it's not the prices that bug me (though I do agree that they cost way too much now), it the build quality and detailing that have degraded since the early 2000 teens. The literal last SW figure I purchased was Dengar the 2010 Vintage Collection. The facial detail is amazingly well done. Even the eyes look great and kind of have emotion to them. In this case, annoyance. LOL I bought two at the time - one opened and the other still on card and safe in a plastic display case.

The 5POA 3.75"-scale Retro line Mandalorian figures are intentionally designed to appear a little clunky because they are supposed to blend in with the classic original Kenner toys from the 70's & 80's. More realistic-looking and highly-articulated versions of the same characters can be found in the 3.75" Vintage Collection and the 6" Black Series lines.

I'm a white guy and a decade ago I was thrilled to finally see a 3 3/4" Storm in her Claremont/JRJr punk look. I bought it on sight. I would have loved to have been able to buy figs of all the female X-Men characters back in 1985 when I was a kid. It's about cool, captivating, well-crafted characters, regardless of physical traits. Everyone might have fallen for Reva if she were built up properly.

@@ramonandrajo6348 It is though. It was made by Dave Filoni and overseen by George Lucas. Before the Disney buyout there was a new tier of canon created. S Canon which consisted of only The Clone Wars and below G Canon but above C Canon. Give the series a watch. People have episode orders for where each episode takes place chronologically. Some recommendations are "Clone Cadets", "Defense Of Kamino", The Umbara Arc, The Mortis Trilogy, Obi-Wan Undercover Arc, and the Darth Maul Returns Arc. There's more but these contain some of the best episodes of the show and writing.

It was overwritten by the 2008 series although there is an argument that both are canon as events from the 2003 series are referenced such as Shak Ti guarding the chancellor so we can assume the events from those episodes are canon. Also The Clone Wars only covers Anakin as a Jedi Knight so everything from Season 1 is canon minus Episode 20. Both series are good but The Clone Wars is better.

I don't doubt the majority of toys are still fabricated in China regardless. Anime characters from Japan are still pretty cool though. I do own a few anime statues myself. Clone Trooper, Stormtrooper and Mandalorian (armored characters) figures are consistently the bestsellers, but, much to the frustration of fans and collectors, that fact never stops Hasbro from packing multiples of peg-warmer characters such as Jannah, Greef Karga, and Lando per case. (Lando is cool, but Hasbro still should not be flooding retail outlets with so many multiples of his character when the armored characters have so much more demand.)

Yeah clones will always sell extremely well, kinda a shame hasbro wastes their plastic on shitty characters and unwanted toy lines instead of doubling up on more clones and storms for the army builders.

She is just written to be insufferable enough that people hate her on the level to stop watching the show

I remember as a kid, whenever I went to stores like Walmart with my parents, I’d always want to see what types of Star Wars action figures were for sale (mainly clone troopers). But Star Wars feels so hollow and “meh” these days so what you said isn’t too surprising
