Matt Slade, how can I ever thank you? I have Dapol's new Mogul model in Analogue mode. Mine is in Great Western Green (the words Great Western are in full on her tender) with BR number-plates. Her number is 7301, and she hauls my six Hornby Christmas 2020 wagons and a Toad Van perfectly well. Dapol have earned an invisible gold medal for providing me with a new favourite model engine of their perfect quality. I haven't run her with coaches yet, because I'm going to try getting some of the new Chocolate & Cream Genesis carriages for her to pull. Your TTS sound-fitted Mogul made such wonderful music with her whistle and chuff, I blew her a kiss and couldn't stop waving madly at her. As you can tell, I'm a fan of God's Wonderful Railway. Who wouldn't be?
Very nice, i might be tempted to get a Manor class myself but I have not bought a Dapol locomotive before so it is a step into the unknown for me, same story with Oxford rail too.
I would love to get one of these. I have pre ordered the Dapol Manor and the Accurascale Manor and both are the Manors seen at the Severn Valley Railway
These are very nice models, I bought one just before Christmas. It was just DC when I bought it but I got a standard decoder for it so no sound, my firebox glow does work a lot better though so something may be astray with yours. They are definitely a model to recommend.
Dapol have referred to an "improved firebox glow" in the recent update for their Prairie, which might be them quietly acknowledging that it's a little underwhelming on the Mogul. It's a shame as it's pretty good on the Rails Terrier, especially with a crew fitted, maybe they tried something different with this one.
I presume it's supposed to be the sound of the vacuum pump, in which case it's something peculiar to GWR locomotives, not just to Moguls. All other railways used a steam driven device called a small ejector to keep up the vacuum in the braking system, but the GWR, different as usual, used a mechanical pump driven from one of the crossheads. I'm actually quite impressed that whoever programmed the sound thought to include what I've seen described as 'a tinny tut-tut.'
Matthew overall when you mentioned about turning up the volume well all that missing was smelling the steam and bar the fireglow this must be the best model that you ever had at jubliee road plus will you get a manor next, if so which one. JJ
Dapol will be addressing the firebox glow and gear ratio on future 43 batches which should be good. Black tyres on yours next lol? Have removed the plastic coal load on mine ready for a real coal load.👌
Hi Matt, what’s wrong with your camera. I had to stop watching because it was jumping, made me feel a bit sick .Great content .Please sort your camera out.
