Good Eats, the iconic series from Alton Brown, may be done but it will never be forgotten. This tribute was assembled by long-time GE editor Eric Bigman.
Good Eats is one of the few shows I can just watch over and over and over and never get bored of it. Honestly one of my favorite shows of all time. Not one of my favorite cooking shows. One of my favorite shows, period. Been watching it more or less since the beginning. Thanks AB and everyone involved with the show over the years, it's brought a lot of light into a lot of people's worlds.
I miss the show so much!! There’s nothing exactly like that anywhere. Some things are close, but not exactly the same. And it is because of Alton Brown.
It gave off the same vibe as the PBS shows I watched as a kid in the 80s (Sesame Street, Mr. Roger's, Square One, 3•2•1 Contact, etc), which was why I was so taken with it upon first seeing it during my early 30s. 🤩😊🥰
Me too, HUGE role! I eat every day, and I do it so differently because of the influence Alton had on me and on western cooking education and entertainment
I feel the same way. Good eats made me understand some fundamentals about cooking that made me able to consistently make good food, while being entertained in a way that I have not seen matched. If this is truly the end, then it will be missed . But hey, if they can bring back Futurama 3 times, I still have a glimmer of hope someday we will see new episodes.
Curling up on the couch and watching good eats is one the few good memories I have from a rough adolescents. Good eats, and Alton Brown, are responsible for many an extra smile and laugh for me. And still is a show I go back to frequently. Guess I'm going back again now.
Good Eats was the best cooking show of all time as far as I am concerned. It didn't just tell you steps to cooking something, it explained WHY you do it and it was hilarious as well. If it was still being made I would still be watching. I hope it is brought back again some day.
Good Eats turned my interest of cooking into a love of cooking. I still watch and I always will. I introduced my wife's family to Good Eats on Thanksgiving and will never stop evangelizing the Good News of Good Eats!
Good Eats is a show that is engaging, funny, educational, and (most of all) charming. You made something amazing with the Good Eats team, Alton. Thank you for creating something so incredibly entertaining. It will always be in my list of favourite shows I've ever seen. And that's a testament to the amount of love, hard work, and care poured into each episode by everyone involved.
Good Eats is the reason I cook to this day. From watching it after school to DVR-ing every episode and now streaming it. Nothing but love for Alton and the passion he shares.
Good Eats was always a favorite of mine, and when my son was born, he and I would regularly watch it together. He is now an amazing cook. Thank you Alton Brown!!
I love and miss Good Eats. It’s not just the best cooking show, but probably one of the best TV shows ever. Its approach to cooking and entertainment is the basis for who I am as a cook today.
I can still remember recording every episode of Good Eats to watch with my family growing up. It was fun, it was interesting, and it was a bonding experience. Science and food and entertainment done better than anyone else could. Thank you Alton Brown.
This show shaped my childhood, started watching and learning at age 10 from you. You’ve been one of my favorite chefs/people since. Thank you for being you Alton!!! You’re the reason I fell in love with the culinary arts and got my first set of cookwear for my 12th birthday❤cheers to many more dishes and lots of adventures! Wishing you, Elizabeth, and the doggos all the best!
Alton, you didn't just change the game, you completely re-invented it! I wouldn't be anywhere near as good of a cook as I am now if it weren't for you! Thanks to you and the whole Good Eats cast!
Just recently turned 18 and I’ve been watching Good Eats ever since I can remember-this show made my childhood and is the reason why I fell in love with cooking and learning. Has always been, and will always be, one of my favorite shows. Thank you Alton Brown for all the incredible memories I have of watching this show and trying out your recipes for myself!
When I was in culinary school there were 3-4 episodes they had us watch instead of doing lectures or demonstrations - thats the influence Good Eats had. It was made for the home viewer but had skills to be taught to those who wanted to be pros.
Good Eats sparked a love of cooking as a teenager in the 90s. It is so sad how many people can't feed themselves or their families simple yet tasty food these days. Forever thankful, Alton.
The show was a family favorite. We watched every week and helped interest my kids in cooking. The cooking was fun and then add the comedy, history, and camaraderie...so many good memories. Great show.
Alton not only did you show me my love of cooking but my dad and myself will often watch Good EAts just to be entertained. Thank you for all you have done.
My son and I watched every good eats while he was 6-7 years old. Now, every time we crack and egg on the counter we ask each other“who taught you how to do that?” And we respond “our buddy Alton.” Those were just the BEST shows and we still love them. Thanks Alton ✌️
Watched since the beginning, have re-watched many times in my adult life, one of my favorite shows of all time, thank you so much Alton and amazing crew!
As a kid who grew up on Bill Nye, Good Eats was directly responsible for me finding my love for cooking. I even bought the giant set of DVDs Food Network sold back in the day. Gotta be 30+ DVDs. Still have it and watch them lol. Good Eats also still takes up the bulk of my DVR space. Thank you, Alton.
I still to this day love Good Eats. It was and still is my favorite cooking show. It was the right blend of nerdy pop culture, science, and cooking that always drew me into the subject matter. Alton is one of the few stars I'd actually enjoy meeting and discussing the science of cooking. One of these days.... One of these days....
I remember growing up and watching Good Eats at my grandma’s house. It inspired not just my love for cooking, but my love for food science and a love for science in general
It's the one show that I loved that I also watched with my young kids at the time. My son loved it and I credit both our love of cooking, and the wonderful relationship we have today to Good Eats. Thanks for the memories.
Still one of my all-time favorite shows. Good Eats will forever be good watching. My wife teases me whenever I tell her something good defiance related, "Oh, did Alton Brown tell you that?"
By far the best cooking show of all time, in my opinion. In terms of entertainment and educational value nothing else comes close to it. Thanks for the hours of entertainment Alton.
This show was such an important part of me learning how to cook in college. Understanding WHY certain techniques and ingredients work is just so appealing to me, and the weird humor was exactly my type. Describing it as Julia Child + Mr. Wizard + Monty Python is absolutely perfect.
_Good Eats_ was and still is a phenomenal show. It isn't just about food or cooking, but also--and more so--about curiosity and a scientific mindset, pointed at our daily lives.
First off a big thank you to Alton for Good Eats. I love to cook and when people ask me how I learnt to cook I say two things, my mum taught me too cook. Alton Brown and Good Eats taught me HOW to cook and why you cook things in certain ways. Lots of Love from a huge fan from New Zealand.
The best part of Good Eats was the simplicity of it. There wasn't *one* way to do a thing, and you didn't need to buy the most expensive equipment to be successful. You recommended buying things from thrift stores, and yard sales, which was something I could afford. There was nothing that felt unachievable, and you left room for creativity, and that made my heart smile. Also, you're from Georgia! Like me!!! 🥰
Without doubt one of the best shows ever created and hands down the best show / host the Food Network ever had. Thanks to everyone at Good Eats for the years of education and entrainment. See you all down the road somewhere.
Still my favorite TV show…not cooking show…FAVORITE TV SHOW…of all time. I own all the AB books, have been to three live shows. My passion for cooking and science and critical thinking are 100% credited to those 10 notes.
Good Eats is legitimately one of the core things that thought me how to cook, and understand how to do it better in the future. To this day, I still come back to some episodes when I need a refresher on something. Without you, Alton Brown, I wouldn't be half the home chef that I am today. Thank you.
