Why are we doing a Christmas episode in AUGUST?! I can't believe I had to watch so many Holiday and Christmas specials to write and edit this video in the middle of the summer. Time travel was kinda neat though.

Pretty much where I landed in the end. I'm probably coming off a lot harder in the episode than I feel about it. I thought it was pretty funny, just 4 months early lol

I enjoyed the episode over all, But santa just didn't feel like The murderous brute we all know and love. I mean really the setup is that he blackmailed bender because he became friends with zoiberg.

The use of visuals from the show going along with what you're talking about is on another level in this video. However, at 8:24, when you say "This addition does allow for a fresh wrinkle...", you know what clip you could've used there.

Man I thought they finally found their groove for this revival. I mean the impossible stream was good and children of a lesser bog was amazing with almost shades of the fox era, but I felt that this xmas episode even with the random placement truly solidified this revival. Absolutely sublime, it was strong on all fronts, comedy and writing was all so much tighter and felt really thought out than all previous episodes and almost everything from the comedy central run, it feels like it could absolutely be slotted into the fox era. Then we got "rage against the vaccine".

This is a weird rant. "How dare they release an Xmas episode when it's not Xmas" & "How dare they use time travel without Fry". I really enjoyed this episode. It was really funny, clever plot, and had so many sweet character interactions. It's my favourite of the revival so far. The Covid and Worms episodes were awful and unfunny.

I mean yeah that's the tldr of the video, but I think I make some points to justify the take. I do agree with you episode is pretty good, one of the better Xmas episodes. Would have loved for them to hold onto it until the season was here, that's all Thanks for watching my weird rant anyway

Agreed. I knew something was off, and yeah, Fry should have been included. He's in a very weird spot this season, I guess so far I only liked his role in the pandemic episode, it felt closer to the Fry we know from the previous seasons. And just like for episode 3, it feels super slow-paced, which ruined it for me. It's evident the voice actors are too old and lack the energy, so they speak much slower than before, and animators have to follow this speed. As a result, episodes are super slow-paced, to the point of looking awkward and nothing like the first seasons or even Comedy Central era, which more or less had the pacing and energy of the first seasons, even if the writing itself wasn't very good. Thanks for the review. The more I watch the new episodes, the more I see that probably bringing it back was a bad idea.

Also weird cause couldn't they have just waited a little later in the run to do this one? The last couple episodes of this part are at least in late September. Admittedly not a tremendous amount better but I'm a little less likely to be at a beach.

I don't make it clear enough in the video that I agree it's one of the better of the bunch so far, I just thought the timing was terrible. I too, am not looking forward to the vaccine episode

@@bennett420 Nah, I get that. Also, you have introduced me to *TIME JESUS FRY* and I'm probably gonna rewatch the show with that in mind. The Comedy Central seasons could be Frysus' dimmed power, while the revival seasons are him struggling to regain his foothold on society. Also, as I have gotten older, holiday episodes of TV have *ANNOYED ME* to my core and I don't know why. I think it's because Christmas is getting shoved up my ass earlier and earlier - but now you know how I feel about Black History Month episodes when February rolls around again. And the vaccine episode sucked big time, so, yeah. One more irritant about the Robanukah thing, it showed up during the FOX era in Fear of A Bot Planet, but bringing it back and pretending it's an actual holiday in one of their specials later on just...no, please, no.

My problem with this episode stems from the universal time code and how it basically made everything irrelevant because the professor just made a backwards time machine anyways. Technically robot Santa would be a duplicate and was doomed from the start. Meanwhile zoidberg had someone who just disappeared because they either didn't try or couldn't get back because of money. I honestly think this is the worst episode of Futurama for me I really see no way to defend this.

Ive enjoyed most of the videos so far when they stick to analyzing or criticizing the actual narrative. This one felt much more like a rant about minor details on an overall decent episode. The video boils down to, Christmas episode too early, and you wanted Fry in it, when theres a lot more to praise and criticize. For example the ending is very rushed and somewhat underwhelming etc. Honestly I would have preferred just a video analyzing Fry as an embodiment of time. Sorry for the long comment, I think overall youve been making some great videos and I hope to see the channel grow.

Appreciate the long comment, and the good feedback. Still figuring out what the channel is, what people like to see, what the algorithm needs to feed on, so I'm thankful for the notes. I wanted to dive deeper into time travel in general in the video, but it's not something I can do justice in the shorter turnaround. I'm hoping to lay it out more in a longer video once the season wraps up.

One thing I hated abt this episode in particular was bender getting drunk form the dumpster nog, sure its not regular alcoholic eggnog probably but god FUCKING DAMN BENDER DONT GET DRUNK LIKE THAT AND HE DONT GOT HIS NOSE ON SO IT AINT THE FUMES?!?

I enjoyed this episode's use of a self-fulfilling prophecy, as I prefer time travel stories that feature closed time loops such as Roswell That Ends Well, which tackles the Grandfather Paradox. What I didn't like was mainly the reuse of the Professor's Time Machine from The Late Philip J. Fry because the explanation of him just adding backward travel to an interesting concept of a forward-only time machine to be convenient. I also thought that Robot Santa's origins was something that was better left a mystery rather than requiring an explanation, especially involving the Professor. But overall, still a funny episode.
