Believe it or not that was the last song of that show. There will never be another decade like the 80's. The musicianship that bands possessed back in those days is a long lost art. I was privileged to be a teenager during that time and I can't even begin to tell you what a fantastic time it was. Great choice.

And dont forget this was live with 1984 technology.. which means this is mostly unaltered voices and no computerized instrumentation. Just a bunch of great musicians knocking it out of the park. One of the best rock voices ever.

Then one day he walked into the rehearsal room and told the band "Listen guys, I don't want to play with you anymore". Then he went and became a commercial airline pilot.

Geoff Tate is one of the greatest metal vocalists to ever walk this earth, funny thing is he wasn't a vocalist originally, he was a keyboard player. From '83 to '94 he was in my opinion the best metal vocalist out there.I have him as my 3rd favorite metal vocalist of all time, and I've been listening to metal for over 40 years. As far as a possible future Queensryche reaction, I'm going to suggest I Will Remember from MTV unplugged from '92, it's an acoustic version, and you'll really see how incredible Geoff is. Peace and as always, stay Metal you two. 😊🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶

Curious who your other two favorite vocalists are. I have to go with David Draiman as my favorite after seeing his "Sound of Silence" on Conan, that's the best single vocal performance I've ever heard. Nightrider, the song with what I believe to be the most throat ripping metal scream ever. There is just no way to do a scream "right" and still have it come out like that. Notice that he stopped doing it like that very quickly. I suppose we wanted to make it to 30 and still have a voice. That whole 4 song album was kind of the beta version of what Queensryche would develop into. Those 4 songs are all great though. I compare it to Metallica's Kill 'em all. They both show their bands dripping with talent but hadn't quite got their signature sound and style yet.

Loved your reaction! You have just begun to discover what Queensryche can do (original lineup). This is a diverse band. Not every song sounds like the other. Geoff is beyond amazing! In his prime he had a 4 octave range -- that high note that he hit three times in this song was an E5! But, he's actually a baritone which brings such color and warmth to his tone. And what expression/feeling! In QR's first two albums, Geoff sang primarily in his upper range. In subsequent albums he'd bring in more of his lower register. I love to hear the counter-points of the high and low together. And love those gang vocals and harmonies from the band. The WHOLE band is tight and very accomplished. Fantastic lyrically as well. They don't do a lot of "show-off" playing, but do what's good for the song. They're energetic and intense onstage. Best live shows I ever saw! Geoff is a bit theatrical, and charismatic! NO ONE can sing or belt like him! Also, did you notice his beautiful clean singing? He doesn't scream the high notes, he sings them. You might like "SPEAK" from the OPERATION: MINDCRIME album. The songs on this album can stand on their own, but it's a concept album comprising one big story. To fully understand the lyrics you need to hear the whole album in sequence. It's incredible! It may take a few listens to digest, and pick up on the intricacies of the story. I hope you do more of Queensryche! You won't be sorry! Other QR songs: ANYBODY LISTENING? EYES OF A STRANGER ONE MORE TIME REAL WORLD SILENT LUCIDITY WALK IN THE SHADOWS SCREAMING IN DIGITAL ROADS TO MADNESS THE WHISPER THE KILLING WORDS (MTV Unplugged, 1992) The list goes on....

Come on! Something happen to his voice between the albums. Mainly towards the end Smoking, drinking and not staying in shape. All have and had some effect to his voice. Mainly his breath control and his ability to hit those high notes and sustain those long notes. Yes because of this he had to take a different approach to his singing and music. It a known fact if you don't keep your diaphragm muscles and stomach muscles in good shape you lose a lot of the control and ability to Belt. Also if you don't take care of the cords you lose them..smoking and drinking some of the worse things you can expose those cords too. Even in his last tour doing the whole Rage for Order Album. He has improved and can hit some of the notes but holding them. Na! That's gone. Maybe if he loss some weight got in shape and quit drinking all that wine. He could return up at the Top of the Best Metal Singers of all time. Along with Bruce Dickinson,Rob Halford and Micheal Kiske. All who can still sign like they did way back when.

Nothing happened to his voice. He’s a natural baritone that had a 4-5 octave range depending on which expert you listen to. He simply sang Empire closer to his natural tone. He sang most of Take Hold of the Flame in a high belt, not falsetto as some claim, even reaching as high as an E5. His vibrato, which often embodies good vocal technique, remains from his lower all the way through his high register. He’s 64 years old now and still performing. His voice has changed due to age. He signs primarily in his lower baritone vocal range now.

Pavarotti's voice, even much lower it has soooo much power and richness. You should do a video on Pavarotti's voice comparing it to some of history's best Rock and Roll singers. You do not need to understand the lyrics when he sings son don't worry about it Don't even worry about pickin a song, just pick a song , I am certain if you know anything about music , you've got to be blown right away Shit even if you don't know a damn thing about music.

Lastly, I just saw Geoff in IL last year. He sang all songs from Rage For Order and Empire and did remarkably well for someone who is 60+ years old. About his voice. Geoff Tate was a baritone that could find himself easily in the 5th octave (take hold of the flame is in that range with the high notes being E5). So he had an insane range.

I first discovered Queensryche in 1983 when I was 18 and working at a Indie Record store/Head shop. We got a Promo copy of their EP and the owner let me keep most of the Promo's. So when I got home I put it on the turntable and was blown away. I have seen them many times the best was in 2005 at First Avenue in Minneapolis. They played 8 songs from various albums then played the whole "Operation Mindcrime" album. When I was about to leave their sound engineer called me over and said "I can tell your a die hard fan" and he handed me a laminated set list the only set list that he had. (Most all set lists are now on a computer with only one physical copy they use).

You must listen to Franco Fagioli - singing "Vo solcando un mar crudele", his style is incredible.

There’s so many nuggets to be discovered within the realm of what most would deem “Hair Bands/Metal”. You kids need to seek out more from the “Power Metal” subgenre…Priest, Dio, Maiden, Savatage, Helloween and such!🤘 Obviously, the ‘ryche struck a chord!👍😎

Have you guys listened to “queen of the reich” that one was from 1981 and it’s a little more upbeat than this one, gets your blood flowing. And yes, later in his career he wasn’t able to hit those high high notes anymore because of damage to his vocal chords but still a great singer
