Imagine a world where, instead of shying away from mortality, we embrace it by leaving Last Wishes-inspiring acts of kindness and goodwill-to be carried out in our honor. Drawing inspiration from a heartwarming story of a young man's simple yet impactful last wish, Kyle Tevlin explores the transformative power of turning sorrow into positive action. Encouraging us to rethink our experience of death, the speaker envisions a future where Last Wishes become the norm, injecting genuine joy and fulfillment into the final farewell. Join this visionary talk and ponder the possibilities of making the end of life more life-affirming and, unexpectedly, joyful.
Kyle Tevlin is a graphic designer in Chester County by day, and at all other times a crusader for better goodbyes at end of life. She is the founder of ‘I Want a Fun Funeral,’ encouraging people to have uplifting and unforgettable farewells. Coming from a big, humor-filled family in North Jersey, she takes having fun very seriously. She hopes her talk inspires everyone to leave some awesome Last Wishes before their number’s up, doing good in the world and of course having fun in the process. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Talk about death , let me add on , I love coming here to read the comments. Some people (like myself at times) are obsessed with reading comments. For example, you find yourself reading this comment right now, which does not contain any useful information, only curiosity, that drives you to waste your time. Have a good day.😂😂😂

"...Death is the worst..." congratulations on having a nicely sheltered life!

Exactly! Imagine being expelled! (Hermione joke) Joking aside, there could be many things worse. Pretty sure being kidnapped and sold into human trafficking is worse.

She wasn't talking about dying being the worst for the person dying. She was talking about the death of people we are close to, and love (in all ways). It is the worst. As even in terrible circumstances, there is hope when they are still alive. Hope things will be better, hope we can find the person who has been kidnapped, etc. The death of the individual often includes the death of hope that things can get better or turn out ok.

One of the dumbest TED talks I've ever heard! What a purely western way to look at death, do your good deed while you are alive! And don't try to buy a clear conscience after your death. Everyone knows he's going to die, you don't have to think about that all the time. One of the first philosophers, Socrates, said, "Why should I fear death? Because it is unknown? I believe in God, and if there is no God there is nothing. And the night you slept and no thoughts had not been the most beautiful night". I am a modern philosopher and I see life as an incurable disease that will eventually kill you. I also believe in God and am good to other people now, I don't need to buy a clear conscience after my death!

I like ur words "life is incurable disease, (e.g. stage 4 cancer), that will eventually kill you" I see my world is like stage 4 disease despite advancing technologies yet it deteriorating overall life quality moment used to be in decade. E.g. increasing temperature, inflation and take more effort to achieve the norms standard of living. Isn't technology has make us to work harder like a slavery with extra step?

The fact that there is no god is blatantly obvious.
@janschoice3855

@@realitywave Can you explain why there is no God?
@realitywave
@realitywave 2 дня назад
@@janschoice3855 there is zero evidence of such. There is no logical reasoning that would lead to a conclusion of such. There is no physical necessity of such. Why would we think then, that there is such?
