hope yall enjoy! what is your favorite place in the game? and also, did you like this sort of free-form, ramble-y type of video?

I too think Sumeru desert is absolutely phenomenal, it made me feel like an actual old world explorer uncovering ancient secrets. And the world quest is beautiful and heart wrenching. Sumeru quests in general feel on another level of deeply sad and contemplative. Possibly the desert is my favourite area in the whole game. Hypostyle is the first place I 100 percented without even trying but just from constantly coming back for more. I've only started playing half a year ago so I never experienced it without the map. Second contestant for my favourite area is the Chasm that is actually in Liyue, not the underground part. It is so calming. I can't explain it but the music there makes me feel like all the troubles in life are but dust in the wind. I absolutely love Chasm quests too.

The top of the hourglass pyramid in sumeru is really pretty to look out from. The actual ruins in dragonspine are amazing. Specifically the room with the murals that tell the tale of the place. There's also a sort of library overlook that was always neat. Enka in general is just so gorgeous. I really liked the chasm underground. Wasn't much of a fan of the surface for it. Finding the mushroom tree for the first time was a heck of a treat.

There's actually a bunch of videos like that but they have the youtuber/steamer voice which takes away from the calm. That guy that 100% all locations in genshin matches the vibes in this video tbh, super chill, super nice vibes, great for playing in the background as you farm a game or do some work. Forgot if its RedNasYo or itspaikon or someone else, I only watch like four channels regularly so idk how I forgot lol.

There’s so many cool places in Genshin and yet most of them are rarely used after release. I remember, for example, some of the Chasm underground looked really cool, like the giant mushroom and the ruined cities, and it’s a shame that we don’t get a real reason to return after we finish exploring these areas. I know that implementing events that take place in these locations would not be a good thing when a good part of the players haven’t explored it at all, but I would really love an event that allowed you to take pictures of these areas for rewards, since it would help the players remember that the Sea of Bygone Eras still exist
@animepsyclone
@animepsyclone 9 дней назад
Adding onto the idea for an event where you take pictures of forgotten areas, I think it could work as an anniversary event, where you take pictures of areas you have been to and the game tells you when you first went into that area, how much you explored it, etc. IMO, an event like that would be something interesting and nostalgic, especially for older players.

i'm surprised no one's mentioned it yet, but the path leading to the city of Liyue is absolutely beautiful. you follow it as part of the main archon quest, and then you climb up this hill and at its peak you see the whole of Liyue laid out in front of you with its golden lights and the sea, and there's even a watchtower you can climb to get a better view- argh i got chills when they showed the Liyue cutscene for the first time. it's beautiful and reminds me of celebrating CNY when i was younger and things were simpler (lol). plus the music in the whole region is lovely (especially Moon in One's cup and Liyue's theme with the swelling orchestra at the end)! it's even better when they add floating lanterns over the sea during Lantern Rite TT when i'd just unlocked Liyue i used to go there to just run around the city. this video made me very nostalgic haha

I had just started playing the game in 1.3 and had the good fortune to come to Liyue for the first time at night during the very first Lantern Rite. Some other forgotten area at the top of my head: -Tomo's grave (Where Kazuha placed Tomo's vision, the white cat is there too), -Aranana Village the "day version" -Inside the giant ruin guards -Stormterror's Lair main tower, lowest floor and at the very top -Nameless island in Mondstadt -The abandoned wine cabin in Liyue (you can get a lot of low rarity artifacts here) -There is a cave in between the statue's leg in Liyue, near Golden House. -Pervases's Temple and the pond next to it. -The root system in the Chasm that can teleport you up to Sumeru. -The Temple of Silent -The thief's cave underwater of Fontaine (there is a trapped dog there that you can feed) -The researcher hideout at the edge of Fontaine (where Paimon help you out of the cage) -3 torches sand island at the beach of Sumeru (I assumed it's the border of Natlan) -Near the place above is a waterway, there is a small tent of an artist NPC from the mini world quest. -The pari's cave at the end of the desert swamp. -The shinning gold mushroom cave near the dendro chicken. -Pirate ship + cave combo in Serai island -Neko's shrine -The hilichurl camp on water around Watatsumi Island -Kokomi's secret base -The ghost village in Wuwang Hill -The frogs "shrine" in the chasm. -That one special fishing spot in the Chasm's cave with the Black Serpents and monuments puzzle

One thing I like about character story quests is how they'd permanently change the world. like how mona broke the seal on the door, how we drain the water in albedo's, and how we opened up sal terrae in Zhongli's. I can't remember if all story quests used to do that nor have I paid attention in the newer ones, but I do remember trying to guess what area they'll touch upon when starting a quest.

You had to play Razors story quest in order to unlock the wolf weekly boss. There's been this swift in quests eversince 1.3 I think. Now most landmarks are locked behind those big world quests, in which you explore an area with an npc. And the character quests have their own disposable domain that can be only accessed once. And as a "reward" you get a cinematic cutscene.
@doug3454

@@sappyzap it didn't, you're thinking of the Sumeru archon quest. That said, Nahida's 2nd story quest did actually create a permanent change (other than the weekly boss) - you can still visit the Fungi in that area near Mawtiyima forest and they won't be hostile (also, if you completed a short follow-up quest, the 2 Hydro Fungi from the start of the story quest will also move there).

The Door to Khaenri'ah is definitely on my list. Just after such a long slog, finally getting to the bottom of the cave and see this massive door across the large cavern, the eight-pointed star emblem emblazoned upon it? Bruh... Stunning. I'd also put the adeptus' retreat place on this list. Y'know, the little floating island above the moutains that you have to do that puzzle to unlock? I love that area. It's so cool and you can see so far and it's so damn pretty. There's no reason at all to go back there after you get the chest, but I still do on occasion just for nostalgia's sake. Also, some of the places in the Chasm! I'm specifically thinking of the old, upside-down ruins, the big, glowing mushroom that talks, and the area with the celestial nail, but I'm sure there are other really cool spots.

There is no reason for a person to invest so much into the game beyond there own desire to invest if they don't want to. The game doesn't force you to do so. There isn't any any leader board or anything. Heck if you want primos so bad then just fair chest and do literally anything else. Abyss is just like the quickes way to get some primos in like two weeks now 4. Genshin is not meant to be played for like long period of combat its meant to be about exploring and having fun with he world that's why it'd all geared towards that.

the most nostalgic place in the game for me is the little ledge where you stand at the beginning of the game above the first statue of barbatos at starfell lake. its the first stunning view in the game with its own cutscene, but ive never had a reason to go stand there again and take it all in. i might just go do that when i log on today (and maybe add a few other places to this comment). im especially curious how the scenery from that spot has changed with all the new areas since then

The world building of Genshin is just incredible honestly… Not just the various sceneries/environments but NPCs have their own little background that most of the player base don’t pay attention to.. For example, at the cemetery behind the Cathedral, there’s a father who sings to his deceased daughter. These neat details brings more life to Teyvat.

I clicked on him and if you know you know but basically he was singing a song to his dead daughter. I was so caught off guard as I was new to the game and now I just occasionally visit the graveyard when I'm near the church cause I just wanna give the dead some company.

One such place that makes me nostalgic was that secret cave in the undergrounds of the chasm: the place is idyllic, bathed in gentle sun light, a few roots traverse the area, protecting three elemental totems in the center. You are welcomed here by a very quiet and serene soundtrack unique to this specific area, none of the few dendro blob you walk by will trigger the local combat theme; this is a place of peace. The totems element are from the three (at the time of the region releases) current known archon: anemo, geo and electro. That was one subtle tease of sumeru release and it hit me very hard at the time. This pretty little area was enough to get me hooked until the next beautiful region get around and the music in here still gets me emotional for some reason. And fun fact you may already know about, after sumeru released, the top of that place, specifically where the sunlight comes from, is a secret teleport to the entrance of the sumeru forest. Really loved that attention to detail here :)

Don't know if we can consider it "forgettable" because of the immense lore implications, but the Gate of Everlasting Mournings will be for a long time the most impactful thing that I ever came across in Sumeru, and I'm pretty sure that after the Khvarena quest was done, not that many people came back down there to see it again (will say that I'm one of those people, I sometimes go down there just to remind myself of the extreme shock I had when first seeing it). And also, just seeing a Mourning Flower right outside it was the moment I actually teared up (silly, but it was really impactful to me for some reason)

Thanks for the nostalgia trip! All of these little areas are exactly what makes genshin’s open world so amazing imo. Helping my friend and my mom find materials has brought me back to several of these places but I really do have to revisit some of them sometime. I also agree that the desert isn’t as awful as a lot of people think it was, but it was definitely way easier to digest when experienced across three updates and i can see why newer players would be overwhelmed with having to confront what looks a lot like one single massive area, even if the underground map has made exploring that area way easier.

Ever since I watched the yu-peng chen’s music video for tales of snowy mountain, when they show the samanchurl dancing in the snow, backed up with the melancholic music, i somehow understand how everything will eventually turn into memories while teyvat is going to always be waiting for us no matter how long My favorite place in teyvat has to be qingce village. It reminds me of my own hometown that I can no longer go back to because of things that happened between my families. Qingce reminds me of the days I used to spent on my granny’s house every weekend with the mountains all around, petty field, water banks.. they just got me emotional everytime. And the music just phenomenal Dragonspine too, i live in tropical country so this might sound silly but looking at snow falling on my window has always been my childish little dream.. i love the loneliness, serenity, sorrowful atmosphere of the area and again the music is just iconic. I can't believe how Genshin is already a thing full of nostalgia. It feels like just yesterday I first downloaded the game, and it kept crashing because of my crappy pc at the time, but I was just so breathtaken by how beautiful the world was because I have never played a game with such amazing graphics and scenery. In the past I was looking for an rpg game that I could really immerse myself in the world and when I found genshin I was like "I found it." all the climbing through terrain, all the running around the map mindlessly can really lead you to some wonderful places tucked somewhere in genshin. the caves in liyue, that one little bell tower in mondstadt--it's like unearthing treasure. you stay there for a bit and maybe even place a pin to remember it forever. i have many fond memories of this game and even just hearing the soundtrack immediately brings me back to the place i associated it with. a favorite of mine is getting a glimpse of the wangshu inn from afar for the first time and hearing the lovely instrumental music that accompanied that view.

One thing that makes me come back to these places, Is Co-op with Friends, we sometimes tp to these areas just to reminisce on times before updates, expansions, quest progressions and more. We rarely co-op nowadays because we're busy but we do go in calls whenever someone opens. We'd do Photoshoots, recordings, Do some trolling with each other and have fun. STORY WISE, It's like Poetic that we mever return to these areas specifically the "Go to these Forgotten Areas of the World to Get/Investigate Objective" because we have done what we were supposed to do and that we have to leave now. Gameplay wise, its a wasted space for the most part unless you're super desperate for Materials or Specific materials or drops are in the area. My Favorite area is really the desert even though it was the most frustrating to explore because of verticality and no underground maps back then, I felt like an explorer, it also made me dizzy and had to explore all the underground for months. Well Sumeru in General but the the Desert was the first super extensive, connected network of underground areas.

I want to add 2 more where I regularly even now go to chill. - The virushka oasis. You hit up a lot of my favorites, but some other small out of the way places or forgotten areas I love: - The base of Stormterror's tower. What is WITH the swirling winds down there? Is that the remnants of Decarabian's death, causing chaos? There's unique Paimon dialogue if you try to get down there. - Pervases' Temple! I try to stop in from time to time to offer him some incense. - The dropoff from the Inazuman ocean to Watatsumi Island. Seeing that view for the first time was just fantastic. Shoutout to the vortex you jump into to get into Enkanomiya as well. - The Door to Khaenri'ah. Actual chills the first time I saw it. Kaeya was my first character to 90, first crown, first triple crown, and first character to max friendship. I'm incredibly invested in him and his backstory, so that place held a special significance for me. - The Harvisptokhm tree and the area beneath it. LOTS of lore significance, and absolutely gorgeous. - The ruins of the Fontaine Research Institute (sky cube edition) and the Roots of Errinyes that you go to during the Pahsiv quests. Yes, these are pretty recent, but they're also easily forgotten once you're done with the relevant quests! - Honorable mention to the Golden Apple Archipelago, which I certainly wish I could return to! And two that warrant a separate paragraph, despite being recent: Teatree Slope and Yaodie Valley. Baizhu has been one of my favorite characters since I saw him when I started playing in 1.3, and I always made sure to keep enough wishes in reserve for a guarantee in case he suddenly became playable. I sifted desperately through dialogue and lore for years, searching for Baizhu crumbs. When the Echoes of an Offering artifact set came out I read through its lore and immediately told a fellow Baizhu-loving friend "there's NO way this isn't talking about Changsheng and a fish adeptus." Baizhu came out most of a year after that, and Chenyu Vale almost another year after *that*, and I was so, SO happy to find those places, play those quests, meet Fujin, and have my theories confirmed. Stepping into Yaodie Valley and hearing the musical motif from Baizhu's story cutscene threading through the music actually made me tear up, I was so happy to finally be where that story began. Genshin's delayed payoff game is wild, but it's always worth the wait. (happy sighs) Anyways, my rambling aside, I really loved the video. You definitely got me fondly reflecting on why I love this game so much. There are SO many beautiful or impactful moments and places that stick with you. It's great to see a chill person that's so in love with the game, I'm definitely going to check out your other videos for both Genshin and others! Thank you for the nostalgia blast!
