I have a bottle of this - I grabbed one after seeing Ralfy's review, and I haven't regretted it. It is an excellent choice, and it is naturally presented (non chill filtered and natural color). I love all kinds of whisky, but I seem to be more drawn to single malts than other styles. It's always nice to find one that is high quality and a good value.

Arran is a fantastic modern distillery, they have several fun and affordable expressions.

Arran 10 is a consistently good shelfer. And Arran 18 is even that much better!

You have to get the Arran Quarter Bothy. It's even better

Arran is my favorite distillery. If you see the discontinued 12 CS and 14, grab them!

It’s so funny how excited Erin gets over the nose

I do too. I usually get more on the nose than on the palate, even with stuff I really love the taste of. There are some whiskies that smell so good I have to remind myself to start sippin'. 🙂

I saw some dusties of this in a liquor store recently for $46 each and so I bought the last three bottles on the shelf. Even better, they all came in a box with two whisky snifter type glasses. Even more better, one of the boxes was missing a glass, so the store clerk gave me two free Guiness pub style glasses. 😄

Totally agree with the other comments! Just visited Arran, the Lochranza Distillery („Arran Whisky“) and LAGG, the (relatively new) sister distillery in the south of the island producing the peated Whisky - unfortunately the Machrie Moor, the peated Whisky from Lochranza (LAGG tastes a lot different from Arran’s Machrie Moor) will not be continued in the future as they told us at the Distillery☹️ So catch the last bottles in the next 2 or 3 years (the NAS is good although I personally prefer the 10 or cask strength!) and maybe make a fortune in 10 or 15 years😉 Anyway, I booked a Master Class - only Distillery Exclusives - LOVED them all! Took some of them home with me to Germany😉 Also had the 18, 21 and 25 next to each other and must say, that the 25 is NOT worth double the price compared to the 18, they are to close to each other! The 21 is fine if you can happen to get it for a reasonable price - otherwise: By the 18! Some Whisky Auctions have good bottlings, too - so that‘s another option to catch a cask strength! If you happen to catch a LAGG (3 batches out yet) try them - GOOD stuff! George🥃

We've actually been hearing a bit about LAGG more recently and it's something we're definitely keeping our eyes peeled for!

Should have watched your review to the very end and I would have added this to the comment I just posted: Arran is a Scottish Island close to Glasgow😉 If you can find them you may also try the Arran Amarone Cask, Sauternes Cask, Port Cask, Sherry Cask, Quarter Cask The Bothy, Barrel Reserve - all of them NAS, but all of them very good if not excellent Whiskys depending on my mood, the weather, time of the day and other circumstances that influence tastings😉

Arran is lowkey the best budget single malt at that age. All their products are hitters but they’re tough to find in my area.

I know you taste blind but do try more of Arran if you get a chance. It’s the island in the Firth of Clyde just over from us. Lochranza where your whisky was distilled was one of the first of the new distilleries here and they have recently started selling malt from their second distillery, Lagg, at the south end of the island. Lagg is much more “island” in style.

For me Arran 10 was a great budget friendly pour at $41 for a 750ml bottle. A year later it becomes $56 for a 700ml bottle and is the exact same juice. Now I’m very reluctant to buy it again.
@sugarkitty4777
@sugarkitty4777 Год назад
To me it's well worth it - look at all the Diageo products at $65 with some of them increasing beyond that. But as an alternative, AnCnoc 12 or Glencadam 10. Both light bright highland spirits at competitive prices. Nice lemon/citrus zing, just not the touch of seaside you get in the Arran 10.
@BigBadJerryRogers

That's going to be the story of a lot of bottles now that the 700 is the new standard and the prices are more for less

@@sugarkitty4777 Spot on. It’s our local distillery. It’s not a multinational. They’ve just the two on Island distilleries and that’s it. They make a massive contribution to the Island community as well.

Arran has always been good. Their distillery tours are great. I currently have the Arran Smugglers Series volume 1, 2, and 3. All of them are around 55% ABV and taste superb.

I get that bottle at $55, and it stands on its own for whether it's priced higher or not. if you find any of the Arran 14 still on the shelves, BUY BUY BUY. It's mush more sherried and wonderful. The Arran spirit absorbs and blends with the sherry beautifully. The 18 is quite a bit more $ but also great and worth the $.

Arran 10 was the overall #1 pick of the first OSWA (online scotch whiskey awards) and Ralphy quite enjoyed it. I have this and find it to be a good representation of scotch in general. I have more than a few on my shelf as I stumbled across a store that has this at a good price.

I really like Arran 10. I've heard the Quarter Cask and the Sherry Cask are terrific as well, but haven't tried them yet. Arran also has a sister distillery (Lagg) that produces peated scotch. Looking forward to seeing that brand show up in the US, too.

If you like this you should try the 14 and 18 year old. Fun family story. When my dad took my mother on their first real date (over 70 years ago) he asked her what she would like to drink. He was pretty surprised when this country girl from western PA asked for scotch. I think he was a beer drinker at the time.

I'm with Erin. I find world whiskey a lot more interesting than bourbon/rye. I like the latter fine and all, but they kinda all have a similar "wheelhouse". That being said - due to the cost of Scotch, I haven't tried very many. But I've quite enjoyed some of them, particularly Lagavulin.

One of the best values with great nose and taste. So much better than Glenlivet 12, Glenfiddich 12 and Macallan 12. Non chill filtered and 46% abv are a pluses too. I hope you’ll get to taste Glenturret in the blinds someday. Another amazing Scotch that many are not aware.

I have the Glenturrent 10 Peated and it's so good. But it's also like $80 which is a pretty penny considering it's age.

I ask this because, I’d love to send you some stuff that you may not have tried, but I also don’t send something that you’ve got already. I would love to see your reviews on some of my favorites. If it's not Scottish, it's Crap! I thought I would have been more of a sweet bourbon guy but something about Scotch is so appealing that now I'm more on the 70% scotch 30% bourbon collection. Well right now I'm on the zero collection with a Red Breast cask strength sitting and wait after I cleanse my liver for a couple months😂. Josh you are one lucky dude to have a Scotch Girl! Bowmore is delicious if you guys get to try. Nose matches palette and even better. Still haven't tried Talisker yet
