I work in a bookstore in the US and seeing how excited folks are to walk into a bookstore after not being out for ages warms my heart so much! We were closed for a few months and, when we came back, we all walked in and smelled all the books (through our masks). So glad you got to pop into a local bookstore! Indies really need support right now

war and peace is one of my favorites! it is so easy to read despite the length and such a delight!

I'm completely in love with "Norwegian woods" such a great book recommendation! Truly depicts young people's thoughts and feelings sooooooo incredibly well, Murakami does not shy away from anything. I think that is what makes the book so intimate and honest. Although it's a slow book, I think the pace is necessary, otherwise readers would not fully appreciate the thoughts and emotions of "Toru". I would defiantly encourage anyone looking for a good read to give it a go!

Hey Ruby, I'd highly recommend the soundtrack from the film adaptation of Norwegian Wood. I read the book whilst listening to it and it really reinforces the sensory feel of the writing. Really great stuff!

Ruby you should definitely read The Brothers Karamazov. It is my favorite book and I'm certain you'll like it. It discusses philosophy, theolog, love... and so many things! It is Dostoyevsky's last book and possibly his greatest.

I don't usually comment, but Tolstoy's War and Peace never ceases to amaze me. He has the power to capture the richness of life and human condition so beautifully, in such a panoramic lens. It was one of those books that I couldn't move on from, I was absorbed and confined within the pages of Tolstoy's narrative. I truly love War and Peace, so I had to geek out and comment aha! so i just felt like i should share, but omg the other day i was antique shopping (i do this a lot) and i managed to find a vintage copy of Alice in Wonderland from 1941 and a copy of Jane Eyre from 1942! and this was in the same shop, its been a week and im still fawning over them lol
