My mother had a situation after we had been out in my car, came home, had to move the cars around. My mom started her 83 Reliant, and when i looked up from my car she was across the street, up on the concrete wall, and had hit the home across the way slightly - this could have been driver error, but the mechanic also found where the brake booster had been leaking internally, and said that may have caused a runaway condition AND diminished braking - and she had a very short distance to react. I have been concerned that perhaps some of the accidents attributed to driver error on the elderly may actually be parts like this that may wear differently due to the cars no longer being driven daily, and perhaps sitting for a few days or a week at a time - had the car repaired, never had this happen again.

On my old 87 Dodge Daytona, if you turned the key 5 times without starting it, the power loss light would flash a code - normally code 55 for all is well - which was 5 slow flashes, and 5 quick flashes - any other code shown could be looked up as to what it meant.

They tell you they can hook up their fancy diagnostic machine to find the problem. The only bad thing is that they will not hook it up until the person agrees to pay them about $150.00 to do it. They try to convince the car owner that they have to get money back for buying the expensive diagnostics machine.

Those 4 cylinders 10 years from now the 4 banger is going to be worn out because they have smaller parts which translates to shorter strokes, and tighter tolerances. I just don't see these engines holding up the way a V8 can. Especially with those Turbos. I'd ont care for those wonky 10 speed transmissions either. I much prefer an 6-8 speed.

looks like you could see brake pressure on the scan tool while braking, most mastercylinders are divided into two different sections so you have dual system, so if one fails half the brakes still work, so you could hold the brakes while viewing the readings each section to see if the pressure is going down while holding the pedal steady, this would verify the fluid in the master cylinder is bypassing the orings inside of it,

Maybe the Mustangs with the 3.7 didn't make the power of the turbo 2.3 they do seem to hold up better. Normally I would avoid a 3.5 or 3.7 that was front drive because of the water pump but in the rear drive cars Ford used a different water pump that was outside the engine so you didn't have to pull the whole thing to replace it.

I have a Ford, a 2006 Focus 2.0 duratec with 127k miles, never really had any issues since I bought it for £550 in 2017 where it had around 90k miles. Just the usual tyres, just fronts, rears are still fine and I replaced the brakes all round. I did have one little problem where it kept stalling, no engine light or fault codes. I did the usual changed the spark plugs, checked the coils, cleaned the throttle body. It was still stalling and no better, something made me think.a sensor might be going bad but why no fault codes! Strange thing was it ran fine at start up and idle, only cut out after it warmed up and went for a short drive. First one I checked was unplugging the electrical connection to the EGR valve, it ran spot on, no stalling! Guess what, it threw a fault code!! I left it like that for over a year, fully intending to replace the EGR valve but apart from the engine code light it was running spot on. When I did replace it, I figured out the EGR valve would stick in the open position when activated, hence the stalling. So Fords don't always show a code when a sensor or module is going bad!
