Well, well, well... now that Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania got announced, and that it's being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku (AKA Amusement Vision), how do you feel that SEGA is remastering Super Monkey Ball Deluxe ?

Has it ever crossed Sega’s to contract an external development studio to create new entries in the Monkey Ball series if they aren’t willing to do any with one of their subsidiaries?

Something to keep in mind about this remaster is that Banana Blitz was chosen due to budget constraints, as the older games would cost significantly more to work on, and the reason as for why they decided to remake a game instead of making a new one(aside front the mentioned budget) was due to testing the waters for series interest.

Now now everybody who complained about them picking this game to spruce up with HD textures, calm down. We are officially getting SMB Banana Mania which is a remaster of 1,2 and deluxe so that’s at least 300 classic levels for everyone to enjoy once again!

14:08 Well this line suddenly aged like fine wine as SEGA has now officially commented that remasters for the first two games and even a brand new game are depending on the "support" for this remake, and it's legit one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

It’s disappointing that this is what they went with when it came to Monkey Ball’s return. I like this game. I actually do. But this isn’t the return of Monkey Ball that I was hoping for. If they remaster Monkey Ball 1 & 2 or Deluxe, maybe then they’ll see what truly got the series running and going in the first place. But I have this bad feeling that this is a scenario where the company doesn’t know if a series is still good in reputation, but they test it in the worst way possible, like Chibi Robo with Chibi Robo Zip Lash. I really hope Sega listens to the reviews and attempts to give us what the Monkey Ball fans truly want.

I have two issues with the mentality that buying this game will encourage SEGA to make a new Super Monkey Ball game. 1. Those who buy this game, despite not liking the direction it went, are rewarding SEGA for a bad job. 2. Doing so won't make SEGA any more likely to make a successor to the first two Super Monkey Ball games. If they make plenty of money from a mediocre remaster of a mediocre game, then why would they bother improving their standards, or making a game fans have been asking for? If you skip this game because you aren't happy with it or the precedent it sets for the franchise, then you haven't failed SEGA. SEGA have failed you, the consumer. If you want to see a return to the traditional Super Monkey Ball style of gameplay that made the franchise so appealing to begin with, then tell SEGA. Tell the former AV developers at RGG Studios, like Toshihiro Nagoshi. Reach out to them on twitter respectfully, and let them know. Tell SEGA the corporation that mediocrity isn't going to sell anymore, and that they need to both preserve the two SMB games we do like (WITHOUT GUTTING ANY CONTENT) for those who don't own the platforms they were released on, and make a new game in the same vein as those two games.

I feel like this was released to test the waters to see if people wanted the series return. Keep in mind, it was 7 years between Banana Splitz and this game and now we have Banana Mania coming out which is more in line with what the fans loved before. I think that the devs saw the response from the fans who wanted it to be more like the originals hence Banana Mania is being released. All we need now is for Banana Mania to do well and then maybe we'll get the 3rd game we truly wanted (even though I kinda liked Banana Blitz on the Wii)

I just found your channel and my goodness are you underrated.

The reason that SEGA remastered this game instead of one of the classics is due to the low budget they were given. Apparently, at that point, Banana Blitz was the best option to remaster.

The changed OST is what did it in for me. I adore that original soundtrack even though the game is mediocre. I'll stick to Monkey Ball 2 mods/level packs for now. At least those feel legitimate.

Great video as usual, I'm really disappointed that this wasn't a better game. My hopes were never too high once we knew it was Banana Blitz, but I was still cautiously optimistic. Probably won't bother now. Also, the camera looks REALLY jerky to the point where I felt a little bit of motion sickness. Probably going to just keep playing my copy of 2 for the foreseeable future.

You should review Banana Mania and see how it compares to the original 2 games.

I just read a article and the director of banana blitz hd said if banana blitz hd does well then they might remake super monkey ball 1 and 2 or make a entirely new game so now I'm definitely buying banana blitz hd, he said "if there is enough support for banana blitz hd this will open up doors for remaking the first two games or even a whole new title in the series. But for now I'd be happy if everyone has fun playing banana blitz hd"

Banana Blitz was remastered most likely because it sold the best

As someone who hasn’t played the original Banana Blitz since I was a kid and HD made me a big Monkey Ball fan, I really like this game.

I like all the changes the new team made. The controls were atrocious in the original. The team was pretty efficient considering development only started 10 months ago, but I'd rather they had created a new game or remaster of Deluxe like you said.

The way he's talking about this remake makes it sound like even though the switch kind of has a Wii remote and nunchuck that you can't play it that way. That's strange and bad.

I never really understood why people didn't like banana blitz on wii since it was my first monkey ball and I really enjoyed it, but this kinda explains it as a kid I always loved the visuals and level themes, I kinda wanna play it again but it wouldn't feel the same without the old wii remote

I bought this game a few months ago on sale for around $8, and I think it was absolutely worth the price. Of 8 dollars. But for $50? Absolutely not.

How do they lose the rights to Super Monkey Ball music? That's beyond weird!

I haven't played a single Monkey Ball game, but I actually got to try Banana Blitz HD as my first. As someone with no experience in the series, I found the final stages ridiculously difficult. After hearing that these levels are considered easy compared to 1 and 2, I have no interest in trying them any more. The Monkey Ball fanbase is very vocal about how good 1 and 2 are but maybe, just maybe, Sega did do their research and concluded that the majority of people would not like the first games due to their difficulty. Obviously, I can't say for sure because, as I said, I haven't played any other Monkey Ball games.

Kinda like the boost in forces. It has white anime lines for a border when you boost, to give the player a false sense of speed.

It's really interesting looking back on this now that they're doing a very, VERY high effort remake of 1 and 2, with the option to play the original OST and everything. This game really sucks, but I guess it did convince Sega to look at Monkey Ball again, and this time with some effort.

I quite like this remake. I enjoyed the Wii game too - as infuriating as it is. SMB is meant to be hard though this game waits too long to get old-school hard - but then it's more mainstream than the originals. The jump made me raise an eyebrow but it is fun - however I prefer my SMB to be pure. The main frustration comes from the camera which can be twitchy. Those bosses though.....hateful.

As a fan of the original, the original OST being partially replaced and the complete assassination of most of the mini games was enough to turn me off from this remaster

Don't buy the remaster hoping for another game in the franchise. Buy it if it's good. If it's not, then why should we continue to support it?

I believe motion controls are overhated at this point. Not just about this game, but in general. I'm playing Wii games right now, years after the hype... and I'm not having a bad time at all

Although I agree on your opinion but i feel like this is the best way SEGA could "revise" SMB. If they did remastered 1, 2, or deluxe, I feel like it will flop. For a causal standpoint, they will think it will be too hard to master or hard to control. At that point, they will just drop the game. As a SMB fan, SMBBB is by far the easiest game of the series (even tho it's not great). It's easy to pick up and to learn so causals can have fun and enjoy themselves rather then playing a game that's challenging. It seems that SEGA wanted to take an easy approach and it work imo. Since that work, maybe they can finally remastered the original or maybe created a new Monkey Ball (hopefully they keep the og music instead of changing it, RIP og SMBBB music). Only time will tell on that. Also, in glad they didn't remastered the other 40 party games because they're total ass. Red light, green light, fruit basket, hoops, trombone, etc. Yeah I'm good with the 10 they have.
