You probably missed it from where you were standing but when you put the red wire into the Autel, it looks like you didn't get all the wires in, some of them bent down as you pushed it in. You will see it at 30:40 in the video.
I recently hardwired an Emporia with similar circuit board screw connectors at the charger. Similar to the Autel connectors, the torque value was low compared to a standard breaker lug. The 14-50P pigtail had ferrule crimped ends so I ferrule crimp (square profile) and soldered the crimp.
So, Joel, what is stopping your neighbors or vagrants from stealing your electricity and possibly destroying your set up? I mean all those lights? The cord and charger right outside with more lights?? In my part of the world that seems to invite dishonesty? Of course, I am much older, and more scarred.... so apologies to you.
With the Autel charger there are a few ways to stop people stealing electricity - app control, scheduled charging and rfid being the main ones. As for destroying the set up, I dunno, the same laws that stop people breaking your windows or spray painting your house?
I have to ask and be honest. Do you edit the part where you look up the codes or do you actually have that whole code book memorized. Lol you always quoting the code book down to the numbers.
Another excellent video Joel! I believe the wire in the underground conduit is required to be THWN. With the PVC hot blanket, why do you use pre-form 90's? Use expandable plugs and you won't kink it.
Ah very good! The wire is multi-rated THWN-2 as well! I typically use pre-made elbows and 22's and what not, but wanted to mix it up for the video. The plugs are a great idea! I don't currently have any. Thanks for the constructive input!
I've heard mixed reports on nolox. It's not required anymore and I've heard it can cause resistance because it is an insulator. But all the older electricians use it always because it used to be required. But all aluminum conductors since 1980ish have antiox in the metal.
Forum posts often don't tell the whole story. Per the 2023 NEC, all dedicated EV charging receptacles need to be GFCI. This is a hard-wired EV charger so the code doesn't require GFCI, however, some manufacturers require their EV charger to be GFCI so that would be the only exception.
Kleenex, Channellocks, Google, Band-Aid, Chap Stick, Escalator, Dumpster, etc. Props to Milwaukee for creating the first tool of its kind such that the industry recognizes its product name as the tool name.
You didn’t tie the breakers together. Code violator. Such a poor example. Just thank goodness you didn’t let a little kid put a plastic bag over their head. Oh. Right.
So, your question and incorrect judgment make you "the" poor example. However, you are trying. Keep trying, and JMHO, the plastic bag bothered me too, but he has 4 kids there watching each other alongside him.
