So your boy tells you he's joining the military.
What goes through the mind of a mother when she hears this news?
Music is my therapy, so when my son told me he was going to become a "Soldier", I wrote this song through tearful eyes at my kitchen table.
I thought the song was too personal at first to play for anyone else, but as I played it for a few friends, it seemed to have an affect on them that moved them emotionally ... so I later decided I would record it. I placed the song on my first (and so far only) album release entitled "Along the Way" (which is available for purchase from my website at www.LindaMckenzieMusic.com)
I dedicate this song to mothers of soldiers everywhere.
I once heard a "saying" that went something like this:
"... if only mothers were allowed to officiate the world of politics, then there would be no wars" ...
I think this might be true.
I know that my mother loved me unconditionally and without her, I wouldn't know how to love anyone.
Thank you mom!
And thank you God for my son ...
and thank you God for your son ...
and thank you God for mothers everywhere (for it is they who teach children how to pass along this thing called "Love").
I thought it only fitting to place my son's real bootcamp call on the beginning and end of this song.

My military mothers! Thank all of you for your photos, your sons, your stories, your monetary contributions that helped make this video even possible! Thank you to Vinny Ribas & Donna Caldwell (of Indie Connect) for the direction on how to even go about making a video! Thank you to Jonathan Fraser (videographer a la excellent ~ you amaze me), thank you Shane Smithson (for your cooperative spirit & support), thank you Veronica Mallicoat for not only creating some really cool jewlry to match this song's title, but for being there to talk to me as a fellow military mom (Veronica generously offered a portion of her jewlry sales to Music City Blue Star Moms), thanks to Rich Miller (DJ) for encouraging me & pointing me to Tim Scott Productions (the genious on the audio), thanks to Lanell Stitt for being my first military mom (besides me) to cry as my first "test mom" to hear the song over her cell phone while driving her car.... Honestly I didn't know if I'd done something wrong when I made Lanell pull her car over in tears? Thanks to Reba Baltz (Music City Blue Star Moms) for making me feel a sense of belonging, ... one things for sure, people need other people so I thank everyone who helped encourage me to make this video come to life. I couldn't believe how much time and energy goes into the making of a video!
