For almost seven years, I've worked in cloud tech sales at companies like Oracle and Google, and I'm currently in a sales role for a global startup based in downtown Austin, Texas.
During those years I have also become a student of psychology, have been trained up in some of the top personal growth seminars in the world, and I’m always thinking about how we can apply those domains to sales to create breakthrough results (while also creating breakthroughs in personal power and fulfillment).

Chris, Im really interested in breaking into tech sales now and this vid is super helpful! The only problem is, Im Canadian and it seems all of your content is based on the US market. Are you familiar with Canadian market? Do those same steps apply to us Canadians as well?

Yes for the most part I’d apply the same steps in Canada! I’m sure most of the multinational US corporations have presences in Canada as well! Sales principles are universal and the most important thing is to tailor how you prepare for and sell yourself on a company by company basis based on their values, culture, and what they say they are looking for!

I stumbled upon your video, just curious: I'm a dev with 5 years of experience. How much will that be helpful for tech sales? I'm used to cold approaching people as a digital nomad (dating and social). I've never done cold calling. I'm considering switching because there's more to life than only programming. I'm European btw (so US strats might not always be applicable)

Great. Cold approaching and cold calling are quite similar. I cold approach all the time myself lol If you’re confident and gutsy, coachable, driven, curious, and empathetic then you will do great in tech sales. If you get a role as an SDR it’s a grind at first but it lowers the barrier of entry to a career path with an earning upside as high as $1,000,000+ a year in strategic enterprise roles. Tech sales is a path that produces financial freedom, meaningful friendships, transferable entrepreneurial skills, and that demands you become a better version of yourself. I believe it’s the single greatest earlier career path you can invest in today that will elevate all aspects of your life tomorrow. With your dev background you could find tech companies that improve the lives of dev teams and have a unique level of domain expertise and empathy that would help you crush it. Also sales skills will be a great addition to your current dev skills that will position you to be a founder of a tech company if that is something you ever desire. The only people who sell more than professional sales people are founders!
