Oh btw you didn't even mention the fact that Travis "henshins" or transforms into his armor. This is a classic super hero trope in japan. And not to mention how he goes from raggedy look with the beard to his typical nmh 1 outfit. He is making travis into a super hero in the trailers as well.
I feel like the super heroes they're going with would be more like: the boys. Heroes that kill people that are in they're way or by accident and it will take a human to put them in check. 🤔they're are concept art for some of the old bosses with a updated look as well as travis new armored suit. Maybe we'll see bad girl one more time.
Heroes of old weren't heroes for their morals or values like how we define them now, back then it was a case of might makes right for whatever it was that the "hero" was after. And oh boy does it look like Fu and his cronies have might.
@@PLASMA1992 I have started it in so far I'm having fun. I think overall folks will feel better about once the framerate is fixed in the next patch (which, despite the rumors and some misinterpretation, they have said there will be a patch).
The concept art for NMH3 includes three types of Destroymen, including a mass-produced model. Looks like all the jokes about every individual gib becoming a new Destroyman came true.
When a Japanese gaming composer and a bunch of fellow musicians forms a band and managed to release a better Limp Bizkit album than Limp Bizkit ever could while doing it for the fun and the passion of making a side-project to promote a video game, something off is going on. Am I right, Mr. Durst?
As long as the game is good, Shinobu or Henry become playable, and the game gets lots of love, it can come out in 2021. Bonus if it comes out in 2020, and we get Mando Zappa, Garcia Hotspur (with Johnson), and Juliet Starling as other playable characters.
I don't want shinobu and Henry playable in the main story.. I try to finish their parts in nmh2 as quickly as possible.. But I would like to see them in side missions, other game modes like death match so you can fight the bosses with different characters (would be dope if you could play as more NMH 1 and 2 characters) and dlc (I really hope there will be dlc for nmh3)
Well at least Japanese Adult Actress Hitomi Tanaka has a good taste in RU-vidrs. Thanks Ghenry for putting the Real! next to New in the patrons, making me google who this person is. Time to clear the history.
You made this just in time for Suda to do another stealth drop. I'm really loving how this game is looking. It's a real progression from the three that came before. I think we're close to a big new reveal.
Oh yeah. If the leak about a Nintendo direct is true we may just get 3 microseconds of travises left asscheek while suda laughs in our faces! Thats gonna be so hype!
@@isaacsussman5632 Yeah, Suda can only do so many of these easter egg teasers before it stops being cute and gets annoying. But it's been constant for the last few weeks so I think somethings on the way.
@@lightspaceman5064 oh we were so young. So innocent and hopeful weren't we? Oh well. As long as no news is "nmh3 cancelled" itll come out eventually and the sheer drought wont matter
Thanks for making these videos, honestly I hope people who haven’t played TSA find your channel before NMH3 so they can finally give it a proper chance!
Those are some pretty interesting ideas for NMH3. I didn't think too much on the context of superheroes, but after being reminded of their deconstruction, I'm eager to see how Fu will turn out.
Today we got another super awesome amazingly 2-second look at NMH3 during the credits for the Devolver Direct, lol. It showed Suda and a TV showing the game with Travis in front of his apartment in Santa Destroy.
Your theory about the disturbing truth of superheroes ties into Sumio and Kusabi's conversation at the beginning of Parade, it also ties into the conversation between Munakata and Kosaka at the start of Whiteout.
I'm honestly more curious about how this effects Travis himself. I feel like FU was kinda obvious (if, of course, they go this route) but what about our main man? He'll definitely have commentary on being a hero but will he become or be a jaded psychopath. I doubt the ladder since he was growning(?) in TSA
My thoery is that this might be Travis' final journey. After the countless kills he did, the past can potential come back to kill him in the most mind blowing way as possible, which reinforce the "Kill The Past" theme Suda51 ran with it and the whole "either die like a hero or live long enough to become the villain" concept might play a role. I remember how Emir Parkreiner from Killer7 and Mondo Zappa from Killer Is Dead including other Grasshoppers games like the Silver Case bring the idea how the main character is trapped in a cycle of violence all orchestrated by the powers that be. I have a feeling that the United Assassin Association is connected with both CIA and Damon Riccitello orchestrated this grand plan for the fast urban development of Santa Destroy by profiting the Assassination Ranking and it is also use to build Technologies to reach out the Aliens; even though Damon's plan got backfired as FU literally end up destroying the city Damon envisioned. Travis might be able to break the cycle and free himself even by sacrificing that Mondo couldnt accomplished in Killer Is Dead and even though Emir manage to free himself from Harman's control, he still couldnt stop the cycle of war between the east and the west as it end up repeating by a 100 years later. Thats my take.
@@outersiderofficial I like it! I definitely think this will be Travis's hardest challenge yet. When though it weirds me out to think about, Travis might die, maybe as a fake out, or has to end his career another drastic way. Maybe as symbolism for Suda to really close the "kill the past" narrative, but that would requires a lot more information to be a solid theory. Though I can say, Suda does prefer to change things up a lot and even if Travis's story is complete the guy still has kids.
@@reallyhimongod You're just looking at the idea in a superficial level. Ghenry says in the video that the idea of FU and his alien buddies that proclaim themselves as superheroes can be an opportunity for SUDA to expand the concept of NMH into actual heroes and create the antithesis of the superhero genre ( this is where The boys comparison comes in) and with that create the ultimate statement with the title "No More Heroes" Basically telling us that in this world there's no heroes. Only people that do bad things just cause and others that try to do good but they have to do horrible things. (That's why Travis and everyone around are on their own way, antiheroes or just simply evil)
Your take on Travis challenging the status quo of heroes really reminds of the TV show The Boys. Not sure if you've watched it but I highly recommend it. It's a great deconstruction of the possibility of real life modern heroes in this age.
Its kinda cool but at the same time still mainstream I think no more heroes 3 will deconstruct the concept of superheroes to the point even leaving them completely obsolete
Travis Strikes Again was easily the most underrated and overlooked game of last year. The gameplay was mediocre like an mediocre XBLA arcade title, but the story was so good it drove me to finish the game. I’m not gonna lie I skip most cutscenes in games, but the story in the game was so good it was the driving force the game. I thought it was a return to form for suda, since I kind of lost interest in his work around of the time of Lollipop Chainsaw, which I didn’t even buy. I have since played Killer Is Dead and I thought that was a step in the right direction at least. No More Heroes 3 is the only reason I still have my Nintendo Switch, since I barely use the damn thing. If No More Heroes 3 wasn’t in development I honestly would have sold my Switch by now.
Just a recommendation, but you should get both Deadly Premonition games on Switch, as they're pretty great. Also recommend Disaster Report 4, though it has both a PC and PS4 port as well. Some other games I would recommend, though I won't guarantee are for you are Astral Chain, the Bayonetta Duology, Links Awakening, Taiko Drumming Game(It's Japan Only, but Region-Free, which is cool), Catherine Full-Body, Xenoblade Chronicles 1, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Ys VIII, Super Bomberman R, Daemon X Machina, and an indie game I really like that's coming to Switch, Umurangi Generation. Have pretty much enjoyed all these games. SMTV, Bayonetta 3, and Metroid Prime 4 are also coming out, maybe, I don't know. Sorry if this is a long-winded response, I just feel really bad that you spent money on a console you don't enjoy as much, and I hoped that I could maybe help recommend some games to help ease the buyers remorse. I definitely am a fan of the Switch and it's library, though I can respect it if it's just not for you.
So Damon is the CEO of Utopinia, an urban renewal company, and antagonist of Travis Strikes Again. Also the action figure of 'FU' is officially named 'Jess Baptiste VI'. I can't wait to play NMH III
12:00 - 13:26,if that isn't enough to hype the game,I dunno what WILL!!! I can't help but remember that episode of Super Robot Monkey Team where...it's called Galactic Smash. That's the episodes name. Kinda reminds me of that.
Sadly I never had a chance to play NMH 1-2 but I did placed Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. But those concepts art are amazing and badass. I just wanna see the gameplay or just a pic of what Travis gonna do.
@@Ghenry wait, there was a rumor? For once, it's awesome that this franchise is a niche one, because you aren't bombarded with videos of leaks and rumors about it.
Man if I ever get good at modeling/ creature designs. I'd love to work under Suda or someone similar. It would be an honor to make some monsters for them.
Idk... Suda51 strikes me as a man who would put his heart into the games he makes. I like that about him and him having Travis as his golden boy says a lot. His other games are so good but in a mind opening way. Gameplay wise is definitely selective which is sacrifices he chooses to make. Travis Touchdown seems to me what Suda51 portrays himself and Gamers. Allow me to elaborate.... if you have time 🤌🏽 No More Heroes.... Enter Travis Touchdown, a man who’s nobody to the world as much as they’re nobody to him. The moment the player decides to play the game, Travis gets off his ass and changes his life around. Gaining a newfound sense of fame through his dreams of chasing the unobtainable. Travis isn’t #1 until we make him #1. From the beginning Travis asks says over & OVER, GOTTA FIND THE EXIT to himself. We ourselves are not looking for the exit as Travis feels he’s over his head. We, the player/gamers are chasing #1. By the end Travis and the players are faced with Henry, the fight Travis looked forward to, as well as us. Someone who rivals us and challenges us to be better because we realize being #1 don’t mean shit 😂. There’s a reason why the saying “it’s lonely at the top” is used Nd if you ever been good at someone it’s only fun if you find a rival 💯 No More heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.... imma keep it short (that first section kinda long). Travis/Gamers are back but unexpectedly because of how our journey ends. We’re number 1, we’re done here. Why the hell am I fighting again ? Oh... Revenge, of course. Revenge would motivate any gamer to get in gear with any game. Travis now developing new found strength from the gamer is mature from his first experience in 1. Still doesn’t give a fuck but he feels..... decent in this one. Why ? Because all our opponents are soulless chumps who forgot what the hell killing ya target mean ? Travis was a fair square guy in the first game with his action on killing bosses. Style and never with a sense of guilt in his art. These newbies are just BORING. Who tf killed my HOMIE? That’s the guy I’m after. Gamers admired some gimmicks from bosses but were any of them any better than the first bosses (Except Let’s shake & Silent Dragon tattoo man)? Nah and Travis treats them no better. By the end Bat Jr is the annoyance Travis Felt by the end when fighting Henry. We the gamers were well annoyed with butt muncher. Let’s kill this prick Nd do something proactive after. I’m tired of fighting him Nd just in general 😕 GAMERS AND TRAVIS seen it’s pointless fighting it can get annoying. We could do so many more things with our time... like getting a house, girlfriend, or even read a book. Hell even take a nap cause you can. Travis riding off with Sylvia in the sunset is the road to the exit we need but you can only kill so much of the past. TSA: This game is for the fans of lore and Travis character. Badman is angry Nd seeking revenge just like butt munch. This one hits closer cause as we all know Travis could’ve died with Badgirl too if he didn’t her the winner. Imagine now... We are immersed inside Travis game while he’s being sucked in with an “enemy”. Travis seen this before with butt munch. I’m sure it was nothing much to convince Badman we can use it to bring his back with the wish. Soo after all this killing it’s time that we found what’s better than killing ? Bringing ppl back to life. What’s beyond that ??? SAVING PEOPLE. Save ppl from trauma Nd heartache with killing. His skills are sharp and could be used for good use. We don’t have to be a hero, anti-hero or villain. Travis is good at killing by us pushing him further passed his limit. Lmao why the hell would Travis show off his real moves in a video game. They ass can get swatted to death. Understandable that it’s boring but Travis would be bored too as he’ll getting older n he’s wasting his damn time in a video game. When he gets out of there he’s not letting things go so easily. Still a killer we can’t wait to unleash our skills on the next person who fucks with in the next game. Back to Suda, he now wants to protect his games even more now due to how many interferences he had with certain games he made. His ideals would want to be fully realized and I’m sure NMH3 will not be in anyway warped for someone else’s reality. Suda has had death lurk in all his games Nd no protagonist is safe. Suda first game protagonist killed himself at the end. The work meant nothing Nd was overwhelmed. So now it’s for NMH 3 Nd I BELIEVE.... NMH 3: Might be our final entry in the Travis Touchdown story. His story will come full circle with him dying protecting the Earth. Our story will end with us aiming to go Galactic in taking down anybody from the stars and beyond. “Shoot for the moon” is what we will do in the 3rd game. Honestly we not saving the ppl of Earth as much but the things we have on Earth 🤣 Travis should never change Nd not even in his final moments. This will be his finest hour and I believe Travis is gonna go out with a bang because us the players will push to see it happen but Travis will sacrifice himself just like Suda sacrificed himself to make his games. Suda isn’t a hero nor is Travis but sometimes when we push ourselves to our goals we end up sacrificing ourselves unknowingly in the middle of our quest to succeed. Just like we sacrifice our time at our jobs for money to invest in goals. Travis invested in being number 1 Nd sometimes being #1 requires responsibility above ya fellow pears. This is Travis’ responsibility to protect Jeane his cat, his motel, his motorcycle, his mask collection, action figures, and VHS tapes. Lmao you think Travis gonna let somebody fuck with Otaku stuff ? LMAO HELL NO 😂😂
I regret trading my Wii copies of NMH 1 & 2. I've been out of the series for years, I don't even think I played Travis Strikes Again because it looked like something like Metroid Federation Force, that is, a mere spin off rather than a new videogame of the main saga. Now that NMH3 is coming out next year I have thought about whether I should buy the two Wii ports that are available in eShop + Travis Strikes Again while I wait for NMH3. Do you recommend those three games?
Travis Strikes Again has the best writing and presentation of any Grasshopper game since the first No More Heroes. It's also one of the best isometric beat-em-ups ever designed. Don't miss out.
Wow, crazy that this is a year old now. Interesting to note that it seems that several of these "superheroes" have been revealed to be more like criminals, eg. Gold Joe is a mineral trafficker, BND is pretty much an "alien trafficker" ig, Sniping Lee is pretty much an assassin and so on, so I don't think this analysis was too far off.
I was thinking about NMH3 all week. I'm still curious about if he'll expand on further connections with killer7. I am hoping we get further playable characters even as dlc. They introduced so many different characters to play as since the first game and maybe its setting up for a passing of the torch in the franchise? Like if travis dies. I could totally see a shinobu standalone game at the very least. Or an offshoot of the NMH brand.
I didn't go over them because, like I said, it's stuff only people with like 200 hours into the game (IE: me) will notice. To name a few, PC version had a soft-lock issue near the end, but it's been patched out, I believe. PS4 version has some compressed audio issues with Travis' voice lines and the background music when pausing isn't properly muffled like in the original version, and the digitized portraits have a shading issue where half their screen looks darker for no real reason. Still, issues like these can be overlooked.
The only thing that needs to be stated about the silent Hill film is this, “I wanna f**k the America bimbo. I want my film to have all women, and no men around. Harry acts like a women. Let’s switch the gender”. Sexism in the nutshell.
I loved NMH 1&2. I liked 3 and I'm very glad we finally got a third true installment but... It jumped the shark a little right? Like it's always been a bit silly but it lost it's down to earth grittiness. The first game especially makes Santa Destroy look like a seedy desperate place and the second has really bleak sober moments. NMH 3 is just OTT random quirkiness with no edge that set the first 2 apart.
You're probably lost with NMH's plot either way (doesn't matter if you played TSA or not) ...at first Hoping for some interesting revelations when I play both games back to back.
So Travis Strikes again is going to be crucial to the plot of No More Heroes 3. I see Suda taking the Kh route of sequal progression. That meaning even the side games are important to the plot. I just hope the explain the plot hole that No More Heroes 2 made
Sounds like you didn't play TSA to begin with? Get around to it! Unlike Kingdom Hearts, you just need to play one really great game to be in the loop, not 60 crappy ones.
@@Ghenry oh no I played TSA and loved it. I just overexaggerated that for a bad joke. Still can't wait for No More Heroes 3 though. Suda, why do you tease us like this? I both hate and love him for that footage
Are you talking about the UAA not being real? People get too hung up on that. It's just a meta reference to the idea of a game only being real as long as the game master (Sylvia/Suda) keeps it running. It's why Sylvia's mother still tells Travis to finish what he started. The game wasn't over yet. At least that's my interpretation. Not that I wouldn't want more lore on what the UAA is. It defiantly existed before Sylvia used it for her con. Maybe it's only "real" when someones using the name. Like a shell company.
@@lightspaceman5064 in TSA, it's been confirmed that UAA became real in NMH2 due to the online/phone video posting of the assassination battles; for example, when Badman saw his daughter; Bad Girl, fighting Travis in his phone in the DLC story. Also in Travis Strikes Back segments mentions how Travis got popular from the videos.
@@outersiderofficial do you know which chapters explained that? I want to read to for myself again and I don't want to have to read all of the pinball novels again
Nmh has always had motifs about the idea of morality and what qualifies as moral and right. Travis is unquestionably not a good guy by any traditional sense of the word, he enjoys killing, he’s lustful, and is generally speaking a pretty shitty person. Of course over the years, he has grown into a sliiiiiightly better person but what makes his character endearing unlike other ultra dark morally bankrupt characters is that he doesn’t care about the standards of heroism or what anybody else thinks of him. He’s a hero to himself and himself alone and thats all that really matters to him. Even as people worship him as “the crownless king” he’s more less indifferent to the title. Hell, at the start of 2 he only ends up back in the rankings through sheer coincidence, until silvia ropes him in again, he talks about it like its a chore. I feel like Fu is going to parallel this in some way acting as a dark reflection of nmh1 travis. He wants fame and power possibly because of some dark past, but the difference lies in that unlike travis, he isn’t satisfied with his own self assurance. He doesn’t just want to call himself a hero, he wants wants the whole world to know he’s a hero.
I really hope this isint just going to be a "oh superheroes but evil. Look how smart me is" thing. That idea has been done to death. Even by NMH already with destroyman. Im sure theres a way they can approach this that would be creative, i mean none of the villains look like parodys of superheroes or something like that so they probably will. but if this ends up as another hackneyed "bigthink" watchmen wannabe we're going to have to apologize to 2 cause we didint know what shallow really meant.
Literally all of the games Suda has directed+written have had banger stories with profound narratives. I didn't mean to make the possible premise sound generic or shallow, but I'm working with like 8 minutes worth of trailer footage. Travis Strikes Again already had an immeasurably better story than NMH2. I'm sure we have nothing to worry about.
@@Ghenry oh yeah i highly doubt thats all thats gonna be. Sorry if i sounded a little harsh there i know we have very little to work with here. As i said the designs are far from just being pastiches of superheroes or something like that. I trust sudas judgement on this.
Suda isn’t really the type of guy to just write “The thing you like is bad.” and leave it at that like Garth Ennis. He seems to only puts things he likes in his games while examining then. It will probably be more about what it means to be a hero instead of just “Heroes aren’t a thing”. Travis’s monologue sounds like he’ll be more into the violence part of being a superhero and FU will be into the fame and power. Maybe there will some kind of rescue mini game.
5:27 So not only is TSA's director helping with NMH3, they even got NMH2's director. This is like the No More Heroes version of the Square Enix Dream Team when that made Chrono Trigger
11:58 When we will see that original and king of all heroes was Gilgamesh, who was probably the most f***** up of all...... no wonder mythical heroes were like that....... and yep this was Fate reference.
When you realise that Hades is the least offensive Greek God out of all of them, and yet his least horrible thing that he's ever done was kidnap a woman and make her his wife (in some interpretations she chose to go with him so even then it can be seen as not as bad). I like the idea that maybe the "heroes" in NMH3 will be more inspired by the kinds of "heroes" in Greek Mythology as you said, with them being worshipped despite the horrible things they've done.
@@Ghenry in general nothing, they worked in Travis strikes again I'm just worried it's gonna clutter up the main NMH gameplay, but I'm sure suda will make it work I'm just remaining causius until I've tried it for myself
Mainstream wise no, most of his games are unique and weird so some people probably wouldn't like his older stuff. Although Super Heroes have mass appeal so the game may get more eyes on it
Will The Handsome Men play a cameo? Seriously, I'd rather a sequel to Killer7. Super heroes suck because they have no purpose without a villain. Could be an interesting topic by itself. Cheers Ghenry
That makes one of you. Even Suda doesn't want to continue killer7. He is only interested in restoring the original script. Also, the Handsome Men aren't real, they were just part of a video game in the world of killer7.
when I heard that my next game was going to be released by Marvelous... I was hoping to make a cameo in Senran Kagura. (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿) but no luck so far f****
