They (school administrations) hate being held accountable for student injury. My older brother played football in his freshman year of high school, broke his ankle during a game, and didn't get to go to the hospital until my mom picked him up. She was shocked that nobody contacted her and literally the only ones who were concerned was his friend's family. It took him months to recover out of school. Considering all the hate on top of an accountability aversion, it is heartbreakingly unsurprising that they basicly let a trans kid be killed with minimal punishment for the aggressors

@@jarboyo4 I honestly don't remember what happened. I just remember the screaming, and how my migraine hurt so bad and they knew I had one and that's why they started screaming. I don't know if anyone ever touched me, zero memory. I can't say I have any lasting medical trauma from it. I've had a lot worse happen, so that's hardly a blip. The trauma... also honestly just a blip compared to the rest. I wasn't openly queer until my young twenties, but it was always obvious and I suffered a lot for it. It only got worse once I knew who I was because I refused not to dress and act the part.

Unfortunatly, I don't remember bullies ever being persecuted in school, not even when one of my friend was almost beaten to death with a baseball bat for being openly gay in highschool. Although, i have seen many people being suspended, kicked out of school or being force to go see a psychologist for even slightly daring defending themselves against bullies. It is almost as if it is on purpose.

The more I hear about the US take on trans kids and how it treat and treated them, the more I "glad" to leave somewhere else. (I leave in France and even if it's not perfect, like my english, at least LGBTQ kids are not killed without consequences,in most cases). Your story made me so sad for you. At best there might be bruises underneath the hair from where the head hit a hard object, but the actual injury, the one that was fatal, might not show at all on the outside of the skull. There's been plenty of evidence that people walked away 'fine' after receiving a kick in the head only to fall over unconscious or dead the next day due to internal trauma that you can only see on a ct-scan or an MRI. If the coroner wasn't told about head injuries he might have done just a cursory physical exam, not a post-mortem, and completely missed the internal head trauma. The coroner actually walked back his 'cursory examination' of Nex's body, saying his previous statement was premature.

unfortunately, this is just par for the course when it comes to those folks, I'd love it if it wasn't, it took me several years to not experience intense panic attacks at any racism after the genocide revelations were fully processed in my own #60sscoop journey. i had to completely cut myself off of social media and human contact with all but a few people for most of that time just to be able to exist without constantly having my peace of mind brutally violated by the most casual of racisms, which is still in fact, racism. there are still things I flat out cannot watch because of what happens in my brain now, but I can finally watch a racism in my media consumption without going into this mental death spiral about it. what a horrific measure to be grateful for. but that's the world we live in. where the only way to be able to deal with racism is to have it forced onto you so many times that you become numb to the whole experience.
