@@W_T_D potentially trans kids go to therapy to find out the things you realized from leaving your traumatic home. If the kid's not trans the therapist helps them come to terms with their identity without transitioning. Mental health workers aren't turning kids trans, the 1% rate of regret from transitioning shows that. The regret rate for knee replacements is 33% for instance.

My clinic just called me up, an adult who's been receiving care for upwards of 5 years, and told me they would no longer be able to provide that care to me because of the ban in florida. These anti trans laws affect everyone, I'm not a minor and I didn't start transitioning until I was an adult. It's not about "protecting children" it's about hatred and control. It's clearer everyday what it's actually about. I wish that there were more people doing something about it.

When I was 20 years old I came out to my parents because I had gotten to a point where I couldn't see my own future 5, 3 or even a year from that point in time. Woke up every day wishing I could just not. Was playing with the idea of just ending it every day. If I look at high school graduation photos, or old family photos, I don't see myself. I hide all my old medals and certificates because they have my birth name on them. Stuff that I am proud of, that I would love to share with others. But I don't. Because my birth name is something I want to take with me to my grave. It's brought me nothing but pain. If I hadn't started my transition when I did I would not be here today. If my best friend hadn't been there to catch me and listen when I was at my lowest I wouldn't be here today. If I hadn't gotten my surgeries and started hormones I would not be here today. And at 20 years old it was almost too late for me. My therapist had to work hard with me, I had about completely given up. And just getting me back to a point where I was hoping for anything or believing that my life could and would change and most importantly getting me to realize that it would be worth it, took him almost 2 years. A time where I was close to pulling the plug multiple times, even after I had my first dose of testosterone, after I had my gender and name change in hand and the date for my mastek was set. The second of my 2 best friends didn't make it like I did. They took their own life at 22. I'm 25, almost 26 now. There is not a day I don't think about them and miss them. I was clapping for that one doctor. She's completely right! Not the treatment is what's killing trans kids! Laws like these are! I am lucky to be living in Germany. I have met trans men who were able to transition a lot earlier than me. They are happy. They have a lot better memories than I do. I am glad for them! Listening to all these testimonies made me cry. I wish I could share my privilages with every trans person in the US. Trans rights are human rights! And that applies to adults and children just the same! Children matter!

Your comment made me realise something I guess that’s obvious but also kinda not. You know, just because one day we get to transition doesn’t take away the past hurt. Sometimes I’m like “wow, I’m on the path of getting the body I want, why am I not happy?” It’s a huge relief and I’m grateful we have different opportunities in Germany. But shit takes time to unwind, just because we get answers for the “problem” doesn’t erase the fact that there was a “problem” in the first place, the hurt still stays. I’m sorry for your loss, but happy for you that you’re on a path that makes you feel more like yourself ❤️‍🩹 sorry for the rambling this video made me all over the place

@@ouchpaw3518 First of all, thank you. My friend was a big pillar in my life and losing them is still affecting me to this day, even though joining a self help group has done a lot for me. And that is so true :) I am studying psychology in my Master, and during Neuroscience we had gender identity as a topic. At one point our prof gave the question why Depression and other comorbidities don't just stop after transitioning and if we think that that means transition doesn't work. So at that point I chimed in. Basically, just because you transition that doesn't take away the hurt and pain of growing up with the wrong body, and for me with severe ADHD and impuls control issues as a child heavily lashing out at my parents and sister in the process. Growing up as a trans kid is traumatizing, and many of us if not most of us come out of our puberty with trauma. And that IS the correct term for it, trauma. And just with any other trauma, our trauma doesn't just go away on its own. It something we have to work on every day and deal with every day. And surgeries and hormones help. But they aren't a magic cure, sadly. Thanks for sharing your opinion, it's not rambling at all ❤️ I hope your transition is going well for you and wish you nothing but the best!

@@echiko4932 You matter, a'ight? Even if right now, you don't see a future, and you look back and see nothing, that you _exist_ at all matters, even if it sucks. Hang on however you can, turn to spite and anger if you must, set your sights on some big, lofty dream that'll take you years to finish if that's what gets you putting one foot in front of the other. I was pretty much in your space for a while, in what I called "passively suicidal", where if I DID die that day it wouldn't bother me. The first lifeline was, of all things, a D&D campaign I'm running for my friend where I have all these notes for possible outcomes that WOULD make it possible for someone to finish running it for me but it's my baby and *I* want to be the one to finish running two years of character development for my friends. The second lifeline happened by pure accident, where an amazing original world unfolded before me and I want to make a whole world almanac for it and get at least two full games for it released, that I want to make my personal magnum opus so that no matter what, I'll finish it before my death. Of all things, it's the thought of leaving my labors of love unfinished that's keeping me going when it gets dark. I can't finish them if I'm dead. I hope that you find your lifelines and wrap them around you like a safety harness, and I hope that beyond that you make it through the night and we'll both see sunrise, and I hope that you find your path forward and it's pleasant but not boring.

There isn’t much you can do about any particular policy decision, at least in the short-term and on your own, but you can reach out to organizations in your community that work collectively to fight crappy policies, push for good policies, and perhaps most importantly, gather and share resources directly with people who need them. Seeking out community and support can be so incredibly helpful and fulfilling. There are people right now working to protect you and who would be so happy to help you however they can, whether that be helping you to access care or serving as a support network or advocate in any number of other ways. And if you want to make a positive change on a larger scale, getting involved in your community is a great way to do that. I’d recommend looking into organizations like the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and the National Center for Transgender Equality. HRC has local chapters you may be able to get in touch with, and the National Center for Transgender Equality has so, so many great resources for self-help (accessing the things you need and taking care of yourself) and just so many resources about and for the trans community. You’re not alone, and you’re not powerless, because you are part of a community that is here for one another. Seek us out! There’s actually so much we can do, even when some really powerful people are working to do us harm. We are still here. We will always be here. Because we help each other through.

There are many allies supporting you and your right to live the way that is right for you. Don't feel alone, don't feel useless and not wanted! Many of the arrows that are shot against trans people nowadays have been shot against gay people, and now that gay rights have been accomplished in quite a solid way (albeit still under threat to be overturned again...) the rightwing bigots turn against trans people and throw at them the same arguments they had for gay people: They're seducing kids, they're groomers, they're some sort of mean ideology wanting to destroy traditional family values... In many ways these prejudices have turned away from gay people, and it is possible that they will turn away from trans people as well as soon as many people get to know personal stories of trans people. I was raised Christian by a verbally/emotionally abusive father who almost succeeded in indoctrinating me into his “values”. Before I woke up and realized it was all bullshit, I remember how it felt to try and please him every single day. I dressed how he wanted, “liked” the same politicians he liked, went obediently with him to church and forced myself to sit still throughout the entire thing. The result of that? I didn’t feel “closer to God”; all I ever felt was distant and isolated, an outsider. I tried in vain to be just as venomous as my father was, and it brought me nothing but bitterness, bottled-up resentment, and internalized hatred. The day gay marriage was legalized, I was around 14-15 years old and I was fuming as I watched it on the news, angry that these people had the audacity to exist. My hatred was constant. I took out my anger in unhealthy ways, but if I prayed every night, all of my wrongdoings were voided, or so I was told. In high school, I quite literally had ONE gay dream, woke up that morning, and began questioning everything. My dream wasn’t scary and it didn’t feel “wrong”; it had been pleasant, peaceful. I woke up wondering why I had felt so genuinely calm if gay people were truly so evil and corrupt as my father would have had me believe. Now, I’m transgender, pansexual, and certainly not religious (although of course I know that not all religion is bad). I’m STILL struggling with overcoming self-hatred and other internalized issues. But I’m freer than I ever have been.

Being trans used to be so taboo the average person wasn't even aware it occurred and when it did it was swept under a rug and hidden like a dirty secret. Then science started to look at it and it was brought to the public eye. Being trans started to be humanized and gained a level of acceptance. Now we are facing the pushback as those who fear what they don't understand realize the numbers of people who agree with them are dwindling. Yeah, it really does seem like the world is ending when you blow bills that try to protect children out of proportion. Gender dysphoria isn't best solved by just affirming this thought that children have, they're not mature enough to actually know what's best for them. Also, transitioning doesn't have an effect on suicide rate if that's the argument... that's because there's usually other problems that are safer to resolve for a child that are causing them to think they're the wrong gender. Transgenderism is largely if not entirely a social contagion, and it does more harm to children if you jump to these conclusions that they must be another gender.

That's precisely what trans people have been doing all this time and has made us feel a lot more comfortable with ourselves. And sure you'd still be technically correct if you go up to a trans person and say something like "this is a biological male!" but if that person is recognized by everyone as a woman, you're just gonna look weird and rude pointing that out. As an early teen, I was always so excited to transition when I got older. I saw laws that were helping us or saw videos of people transitioning on RU-vid, including you and your channel! I've just turned 18, the age I thought I would be able to get hormones for the first time. But now I am scared for my life every day-- living in a small Texas town with people who KNOW, people who could slip up and get me hurt or on accident. Hell, I could slip up. I have NEVER heard slurs against trans people here until this year. I appreciate you educating and keeping yourself safe in this time. I'll try my best to do the same.

Hi Ty. This was my first time seeing one of your videos. I am a cis gay man. I need to say, I have and always will be, a staunch ally to trans and non binary people. I used to work in a large organisation as the chair of its LGBTQ Network. Our aim was to ensure the organisation provided a safe place to work for all its employees, where individuality, inclusivity and acceptance without exception was at its core beliefs, values and practices. This extended to those people who came to us for help. What is happening in your country is scary, appalling and inhumane. What is worse for us in the UK, is that this same ideology, is now washing onto our shores and causing our politicians from the left and the right, to weaponise the anti trans rhetoric and be successful in dividing communities for all the reasons you describe. I totally agree with you on the need to come together to stand against this barbaric onslaught of hate. Please keep doing what you are doing. If you have not done so already, it would be good to see a video from you explaining how we can individually and collectively, be better allies. Thanks for reading. Simon. #transwomenarewomen #transmenaremen #nonbinarypeopleexist There is no LGB without the T.

@Samantha Proust Hi.. from what I have seen, the anti trans/gender critical/women only spaces/grooming rhetoric, began with the rise of populism and its insidious ability to spread misinformation into marginslised sections of society in an attempt to win votes. In the UK, south asian people have been painted as groomers and rapists, Islamic people as tertorists, assyslum seekers are portrayed as illegal migrants bleeding dry, the NHS, social benefits, employment and social housing from engish people. Politicians then wade in to clamp down on them, take away rights and those racists then vote them in. Now, it's the turn for us LGBTQ folk who are being demonised. Russia is one thing but I think all this rhetoric, lying, and dirty politics has always been there since 1930's Germany and has become popular thanks to Trump and our very own Trump version 2.

I think that might get the cis men into permanent legal trouble. Maybe not a good idea. ( I can always point to Donald Trump as an example of inappropriate behavior).
@StephenBoothUK
@StephenBoothUK Год назад
@@margaret8114 think of a public female space, a bathroom or changing room for example. I can pretty much guarantee that at least one cis man will enter it most if not every day. Do you really want to criminalise cleaners, plumbers, electricians and security guards? If a cis man wants to enter a female only space the last thing he needs to put on is a dress, he just needs to put on some overalls, carry a clipboard and walk in saying the local equivalent of “Don’t mind me luv, had a report of a leak/fault/problem” and he’s unlikely to be challenged. Plus, if you see someone who looks like a man in a dress (including masculine looking cis women) you will take notice and probably recognise them later. Some bloke pushing a mop or carrying a toolbox just merges in with all the other blokes pushing mops or carrying a toolbox in your life. Something else to bear in mind, I have yet to hear of a single cis man disguising himself as a woman to access female only spaces, the nearest I’ve heard is a gender-queer AMAB rapist who started social transition whilst on remand (awaiting trial) in a male prison, for multiple rapes, who was on conviction put into a female prison in a 2 person cell with a cis woman, rather than special housing where they were supposed to be in a single cell, who they then raped (I’ve heard an unconfirmed rumour that this ‘error’ may have been deliberate due to the crime of the cis woman, but that was just a rumour). What I have heard of a number of times is cis women who were masculine looking in the opinion of another cis woman being challenged for using the women’s facilities.

@@thoraneh7365 It's not gonna be about drag queens. The law will be formulated in such a way that it applies to anyone "wearing gender nonconforming clothes in public" or something similar. This will first and foremost make it illegal for trans people to exist, and that is the point. Depending on how far the Nazis want to take it, they can use this law to make it illegal for cis women to wear pants, there's certainly no reason or definition of "gender conforming clothes" that says they couldn't. There won't be a definition at all. The law will be unworkably vague, so it applies to essentially everything, then they will make case law cracking down hard on trans people and simply not prosecuting the things that they like. The liberal will point out their hypocrisy, and the fascist will just chuckle and continue. This, by the way, is precisely how the Nazis did it. It is also how the "Don't Say Gay" bill in Florida is used. It is also how anti-drag laws, or anti-"grooming" laws, will be used. Honestly I think that many cis people should actually watch the videos made by transpeople. I am a cis straight woman who somehow got a transman's video on my feed. Because I am always curious about all things, I watched it. I then watched several more by different trans people, and I am ashamed now of the opinions I held before. I was always for the lgbtqia+ community, I have always believed all people should have the same human rights, but the knowledge I had about trans people had only come from news stories I had seen here and there through the years. Listening to trans people talk about various things, and I have listened to a lot of information over the past months, has opened my eyes to a lot. Opinions I had before have changed a lot. You are so right in saying that what is going on is working. I think it's working because people's fears are being played upon. The news blasts that trans women want in the women's bathroom to abuse women (and other things such as trans women in sports have massive advantages and more I can't think of right now). Watching the videos I've seen has wiped that idea out of my mind. Information like what you and other youtubers have put out there is instrumental to changing people's opinions, opening their minds and hopefully help to put, not only this country but, the world on the right track. I am sorry that trans people (and other people in the lgbtqia+ community of course) gets hate just for being who they are. No one deserves that. I hope that more of the world stumbles on information like this, watches it with an open mind, and learns. Hopefully they become more compassionate, and realize that trans people are not the enemy that the media paints them to be. Trans people have the right to exist, and deserve every right that every cis person has automatically.

I'm a British cisgender woman and those speeches made me cry. I feel so sorry for y'all in the states. I feel like our TERF problem over here has contributed to the current anti-trans climate in the US tbh and it breaks my heart to think about it. I feel so powerless to help as well as a disabled woman. I try to help online as much as I can with donations, petitions, spreading the word on things, and educating myself on how best to help the trans community by watching content like yours, and following online communities/forums where I just sit and read everybody's posts and don't say anything because I don't want to impose on trans spaces, I just want to listen and learn as much as possible. I also fight against TERFs every single day online. I want to show trans people, especially trans women, that they do still have cis women allies. That we haven't all abandoned them. I want to show them that TERFs are wrong when they claim to be speaking for us all. And I want to be a useful distraction where TERFs will pile on me instead of a trans woman. If they're piling on me and harassing me, then maybe that's one less trans woman they'll have time to harass that day, y'know? Similar thinking as when you keep a scammer on the phone so that they scam one less vulnerable person that day. Transphobes claim to speak for me as an autistic woman, as a cisgender woman, and as a bisexual woman, and I try to show that they are lying with those claims. The majority of us do not hate trans folks. I'm so disgusted by the transphobic nonsense I see spread in my name. Please move to a safer state if you have to and if you have the means to, Ty. So what happened? Explain it instead of throwing the "Look at what happened to [random name]" because anytime I see someone supposedly being transphobic doing the "Look at what happened to" I immediately know they are trying to have a strawman argument against transpeople that either deserves nuance, or was not about transpeople, or about a bad doctor who, just like in any other medical professional branch sometimes unfortunately happens, was practicing medicine the wrong way, and is now tried to held up as the example against the whole trans community or people who treat them. Link the story, because I could not find anything. But if you want to seriously cling to the idea that "one thing going wrong" needs to be held as an example for all of us, you are suggesting that children killing themselves is not as bad as 1 time something doesn't go as it should, and that it should limit someone from calling representatives and telling them in gross detail the results of their work.

Hey Ty, I just found you through this video, and I'm so glad I did! I couldn't hit the subscribe button fast enough 😆 I'm so grateful that you're making videos like this, especially right now when the lives of trans people are being threatened more than ever. I was so excited when trans people started to become visible, because it gave me the language to describe my life, my body, and why I had always struggled so much! I'm nonbinary, and grew up in rural Australia (my town had less than 2000 residents). My mum had always forced me into dresses, often scolding me for being difficult because I would always argue. I remember sobbing when puberty started and my chest started growing, and my first bleed was at 11 - which turned my discomfort up to 11. Every day was a struggle, every time I walked through the school gate I wanted to throw up. So, this makes me terrified for all the trans kids (and adults) over there in the US. The number of laws they're trying to push through is incredible in the worst way. And it terrifies me especially because what happens there always ends up happening here in Australia too. But your video gave me hope too, seeing how many amazing and fully supportive medical and psychological professionals are out there standing up for trans youth is such a balm for the soul. Those people aren't going to give up! I believe that even if the laws pass, those people will fight at every opportunity, and will do everything they can to reverse this horrific course we're on. The one woman who said she'd call them every time a trans kid died, I hope no trans kids die, but the reality is that they will - and if she makes these republicans look at the end results in a brutal way, I have to hope that m8ght change some minds (I'm pessimistic, but I want to believe). As a Canadian, it really depends on where in Canada you go, and the immigration process to get the really helpful stuff like healthcare is a long and difficult process. If you're seriously considering it as an option, though, stay away from provinces like Alberta and Manitoba; they're basically the "bible belt" of Canada and there's still a lot of anti-LGBTQ+ mentality there (as well as a big anti-vax and a weirdly pro Trump movement). Your best bet in terms of safety and acceptance would probably be in BC, as close to the West Coast as you can get, really. Unfortunately, it's also stupid expensive there (especially the closer you get to Vancouver), and things like rent/food prices have been steadily going up over recent years with no sign of slowing. I don't mean to list these things to discourage you. I live on the West Coast myself and consider myself extremely lucky to be here in terms of LGBTQ+ acceptance. However, knowing what you're getting into re: how expensive the cost of living here is and how long and convoluted the immigration process is, is extremely important. It will take an immense amount of time, money, and energy on your part. But given how things are going in the US right now, I could very easily see how all that would be worth it.

It is never too late, and I support all adults who wish to transition and I believe that is actually what everyone else out there do too. The collision of opinions is mainly around children transitioning, which is a matter of asking if children can make adult decisions. Because we claim children can't sign contracts, they can't consent to sex, and they can't drive cars and they can't drink alcohol. We clearly determine children to be too immature for life decisions that can harm them. Which is why the child transitioning thing is blowing up right now. Because chemically castrating yourself as a child is seemingly worse than all the above. And it is dividing people between those with logic thinking, and those with feeling thinking. You will never convince a logical person that chemically castrating yourself is less harmful than sex. You will never convince a feeling person that just feeling bad during your childhood years won't be that bad and they will get over it.

Interestingly, they call non-binary and trans people delusional all the time. I recently received a comment under my vid about NB saying "no allaj, no jesus, no buddah will let you in heaven'. lol

I'm shocked to see a trans creator who's from Arkansas! (I'm a trans dude from Arkansas too!) It's somehow really relieving to see someone from my state speaking up, not only as an ally, but as someone who has grown up here. Sharing this video in a bunch of places to help spread the word. Thank you for the content, but also for just speaking up, like you said. Sharing your voice and your opinions. It's good to see. I'm glad YT showed your video on my home screen. :) (Also subscribing already lol. But seriously, thank you.)

I've known a friend of mine who used to starve herself because she couldn't transition as a minor. She was hoping that by not eating, she would stop "growing as a man" so when she could transition, once adult, and have her body match her gender more. You tell me, is preventing HRT before adulthood really helping trans kids? Really?

Did think this video is a good way to show my family just how bad it's gotten. Maybe then they will understand why I'm so worried. The fascism is so terribly blatant I can hardly believe it... I feel your trauma, stay strong friend!

Sometimes people ask questions in bad faith and they don't deserve an answer. They may just be trying to mentally wear you down. Maybe you can just have a set of articles that you send them and then tell them "asked and answered". ❤❤❤

Sending you waves of love man. You are one of the first trans content creators I stumbled across when I finally came out. To learn. To understand. TO just get an idea of what it is like to live a life of a trans man. I am terrified. I know I cant tell anyone outside my therapist. I am terrified to talk to my doctor, get approved for T now, and later a bill gets pasted where I can no longer get T. Part of me doesn't even want to bother. Just keep living my depressed life as it is. I hope to die from a heart attack soon. (I am 280 lbs, at 40, so it shouldn't' be to long). When I came to the realization I am a trans man. I actually woke up truly for the first time. It was like being reborn. I looked down, truly looked down at my body for the first time and couldn't believe what I've done to myself. I could never stand looking at my body, because I hated it that much. Every time I see my breasts I hate it. I am semi hopeful though. I am dropping weight. or trying to, it is hard without proper equipment. I am doing what I can with what is available to me. Like simple walks. I have been dropping 4lbs a week so far. I don't want to be an overweight woman anymore. I want to be a healthy happy trans man. Like I should have been all along. Sad truth is, I never knew FTM was possible. I've seen drag queens in the news sure. Growing up aside from LGBT violence in the news, I never heard of trans women, or men. It wasn't till around 37, I saw Shameless. With a trans man in it. I had no real clue how to even process that. Is it possible....was that just makeup? Then at 40 I started hearing more about trans stuff. About a year ago. Not sure where, just woman complaining that men in dresses are attacking them. Then trans women started to speak out about this stuff. Then angry politicians starting speaking out. No more gender care. I had no idea gender care was a thing until they started putting bans on it in certain states. I live in a state that is sometimes blue, sometimes red. At what point does it decide it is red again, and I cannot access help? At what point do the people turn violent here as well. People are still shooting up gay bars for fuck sake. What the hell is wrong with America.

I'm a trans masc minor, and i've never been more scared in my entire life. My parents said we can move if we have to, but I don't know if we'll ever be safe again. All of us transgender people in general. Stay safe.

As a cisgender person, this video really opened my eyes to the extent of transphobia in the US. I didnt realize that people were using words like “exterminate” in casual discourse. This is probably because i am from a northern state but this is deeply disturbing regardless of where in the US you are. Trans rights are human rights.

@@DrJams Cis isn't derogatory at all. Signed, a cishet male. And trans people are having the right to medical treatment taken away from them by lawmakers, a right that cishet people like us take for granted. The primary treatment for gender dysphoria is transition. Regret rates are extremely low and the intervention is extremely successful at reducing depression and other harms caused by untreated gender dysphoria. Denying medical care to trans people based on their transness is discriminatory. That's how trans people are being denied rights. Life liberty and pursuit of happiness. Don't like it? Move to Russia. Their government agrees with you 100%.
