Why? It stops them from using the binder and reduces risk of breast cancer. If they are so pro-health, shouldn't they be happy for the person who has the surgery?

"How could they chop off healthy tissue???" I don't think they know but...the splitting of healthy cells into...more healthy cells....is how we grow. Also cancer starts from cells spliting to fast. Also do they cut their hair? Because hair cells are healthy cells.
@FlutterBug
@FlutterBug 4 месяца назад
@@starflowers1751 I'd just like to clarify that hair is a material and not made of cells, hair is made of keratin and is formed by follicles, which are multicellular structures in your skin (and the outer layer of your skin and your nails are also made of keratin and not living cells) and cancer is specifically caused by damage to DNA in specific areas which causes the part that regulates cell division to malfunction, which is what causes cells to split too fast

@kaitlyn__L

The sad thing is, if you go step by step they will usually agree with you - until they have to bend over backwards so far it creates a wormhole in time to reconnect to “don’t make cis kids transition” and claim ALL childhood transition, now even social nonmedical transition, is transing cis kids because of the %age of people who ultimately choose not to go on blockers/HRT. It doesn’t matter how high that %age is, or what order of magnitude of trans kids would be forced to go through the equivalent, even a single detransitioner is too many for them. And we’re ultimately disposable in the course of saving the 1-3% (range depending on definition). It’s “not their problem” if we struggle to make it to adulthood or have a more difficult transition due to waiting, even though a single detransitioner apparently requires their moral crusade. (And let’s not even go into how the majority of detransitioners are STILL supportive of the trans community, still trans allies, or even end up being even more active in the trans and intersex communities than ever due to now having a mix of both FtM and MtF experiences!)

I think the difference between a homophobe calling someone gay and someone calling a homophobe gay is kind of the intend in it. The homophobe says it because they think that it is a bad thing, but in the other situation it's just not the case. You obviously just did it to make fun of homophobia. More people regret having children than regret medically transitioning, yet we don't ban childbirth. Knee replacement surgery, nose jobs, and many more procedures (including many performed on children) all have much higher regret rates than transitioning, yet we don't hear loads of people pushing for bans on those things. For those who want evidence, a published review of 27 studies, representing just under 8,000 transgender individuals, found a pooled regret rate of 1% (Bustos, Bustos, Manrique, 2021). They also found what the OP shared here re: reasons for detransitioning being overwhelmingly due to social pressures or lack of resources, and the vast majority of detransitioners only doing so temporarily. Anyone who knows anything about major medical procedures knows there is always a regret rate, and 1% is *incredibly* low. Transphobes don't have a single leg to stand on here.

Transgender literally means, “across-gender” or “opposite-side gender”. The same way “transcontinental railway” is a railway that goes from one end of the continent to the other. There is no harm in letting somebody, trans male or female cross dress and go by different pronouns. I knew I'm a girl since I've been old enough to remember. All the times my mother hit me and told me I looked ridiculous didn't make me not trans, it didn't make me a boy, it just made me miserable, hate myself, and be afraid to express who I am. I just turned 44, I started transitioning when I was 43. I've been on HRT for a little over three months now and I feel a lot better. I still have depression, fear, and anxiety, but just starting to take steps to be the person I've always been inside helps. But if my parents had just sat down with me and talked when I got caught wearing a dress, I feel like I could have started much sooner and have much better results both with the transition and emotionally. That I'd be able to be more open and less fearful. I'm a deeply unhappy person and being myself, while it's a huge help, doesn't undo the damage of having my identity not only denied, but actively suppressed. I can't bring myself to really even trust anyone. I'm always afraid someone is going to hurt me, because that's how I grew up. That's what transphobia does to people, and I don't want any kids to grow up like I did.

Late in life transitioned guy here. Came out and started HRT three years ago at age 45. The sad reality, especially for us older folk, is that the trauma and struggles of literal decades never goes away. Hell, I'd even say that it often never "heals." But I've noticed in the last year a slow, almost unnoticed, but really transformative change. A feeling of finally moving on. I'd hoped in transitioning that the depression I'd lived with most of my life would magically melt away. It didn't. It got better but coming out, HRT, top surgery didn't "cure" me. After a year or so I kind of just accepted that depression and the negativity I'd acquired from decades living as a woman would always be there. Imagine my surprise when after almost three years I suddenly noticed that I was... content. I wasn't depressed. I started paying attention and realized that over the previous months I'd begun eating more healthfully, working out, got some decades overdue dental work, started getting politically active, and actually gained some friends. When the F--K did that happen?!? I'm not saying this will happen to you. I hope it does. But I think what happened for me was just a product of time. Decades of harm don't just go away overnight. It takes time to settle into your new self and for those changes you've made to seep into your subconscious. A hopefully fitting metaphor. A teen will hit a growth spurt and suddenly they become clumsy and awkward physically. But within a few years their brain catches up to what's happened to their body. And they become comfortable in their adult body. So you are in a growth spurt physically, mentally and emotionally. There will be bumps and bruises as you get accustomed to the changes, but I hope that comfort will happen for you. Congratulations on your transition and I wish you all the best!

I am very young, but was born and raised in a behind the times conservative cesspit. I remember the homophobic fuss demanding lesbians not be allowed to use women's toilets and changing rooms. I remember not coming out at school because I didn't want to have to ask admin for the key to the handicapped restroom or a staff toilet. I remember going to the swimming pool, with female relatives, and changing in a toilet stall while they used the public change area, and then rushing out to the pool deck to wait for them and not accidentally look at older ladies changing. I remember an incident as a young teenager on a road trip, that involved ladies in dresses throwing me out of a public toilet because I was dressed too masculine, and my mum getting mad, but saying it's not worth the fight, and she made my dad drive us out on the highway and found me a bush to pee behind, which is hard as a girl but is preferable to wetting yourself. I remember learning far too young, use a gender neutral or family toilet or changeroom, if I have to use the ladies, consciously avoid looking at anyone and be as fast as possible. I have never felt safe in a ladies toilet - as a child I looked like a boy if I didn't wear pink or a skirt, when puberty hit there was the whole "only gender conforming cishet women allowed in women's spaces" thing, and now with the gender fluidity thing I can't go in the ladies or the gents. The only toilets I have ever felt safe in, is when I was a young child and my dad would take me into "family" toilets and changerooms, or gender neutral toilets in small places that don't have gendered loos because there's only one single occupant loo. I can't be accused of using the wrong toilet if there’s only one toilet.

The most annoying thing about the whole "Trans Kids Panic" is that... kids as young as TEN, ELEVEN, and TWELVE have to pick out /their entire career path/. Kids as young as middle school NEED to specifically set up their classes in order to pursue the paths that they want to take. If you don't take certain classes in high school, your chances of getting into college might be lower. If you want to pursue certain career paths, you're urged to start preparing in high school- if not SOONER. Sixteen and seventeen year olds can finish school early just to get into college early. You're old enough to get a job, to plan out your career path, get into HEAPS of student loan debt... but not to know who you are or how you feel in regards to your gender... unless you're cis of course. Some cishet teens HAVE KIDS, but they can't /possibly/ know they're gay psh.

I have a pro-trans cis gay male friend who has reservations about trans women in cis women’s ’safe spaces’ on the basis that the latter group ‘fought long and hard’ for that safety. He also maintains strongly that trans women were brought up and socialised as boys, and therefore can be ‘felt’ to be a threat to cis women (with the subtext that there is a violence bred in to boys that isn’t in to women). I’ve referenced the great evidence cited in this video and others, and put forward that this is a kind of essentialism (eg, all men are potentially violent by dint of genes/development) and misandry, but he’s resistant. It’s a shame when an ally espouses harmful arguments; and it’s a shame I can’t counter these assertions more robustly - I wonder what counterarguments could be made to these ‘nuanced’ points (ie ones that are arguably a kind of dog-whistle transphobia). I’d love a quick reference for challenger arguments to help me be a better ally. :)

I’m sitting there thinking “girlie you got your tiddies chopped off just because you didn’t like them, why can’t trans men do the same?” She’s also of the opinion that trans men need to be checked for mental illnesses before being allowed to get top surgery. Something she didn’t have to do btw. She literally just walked into the clinic, got a consultation, pre-op instructions, and once she was cleared medically, she got the surgery, simple as that. I mean, not the most comparable thing in the world. One is for the purpose of reproduction and the other is about expressing themselves. On the topic of “preventing” people from having kids, contraception and SexED is important to discuss as measures to help “prevent” pregnancy so technically it is being campaigned. To be fair to your argument, it is traditionally right leaning people who campaign against trans people as well as such education. Still, my point remains that there are people campaigning against having children, reproduction is essential to life and children are a big responsibility that some are not prepared for.

Ugh, the insistence that you must constantly be worried about other people making a mistake after reading YOUR story and therefore you must tell them all the bad things that could happen. It's significant to me for several reasons. 1) The idea that any trans person must always temper their joy or success with dire warnings and caveats and "what-ifs" is absurd. Giving the detransition rates makes it clear that there is a chance you could make a mistake. What more do they want, a big red disclaimer on every page? 2) It's reminiscent of the horrific regulations meant to dissuade people from getting abortions. They are forced see gory photos of abortions, listen to an overly detailed description of the procedure, hold a funeral for the fetus, etc. 3) It's an assertion that trans people talking about their lived experience are liable for the decisions/mistakes of other people that may hear their story. It is not any trans person's responsibility to just shut up about it lest they "entice" the kids or whatever.
@The21stGamer
@The21stGamer 10 месяцев назад
There is literally no reason for people to get so damn worked up about constantly telling trans people that transitioning is this "big bad thing" that they'll "regret forever". If their transitioning procedure isn't medically safe for whatever reason, the doctor will tell them. If they're really young, then not only will their doctor tell them any risks, but the parents will also be part of the discussion in case the trans person isn't old enough or of right mental state to consent to that kind of thing. There is absolutely no reason for any random third-party to influence it outside of not wanting trans kids (i.e. transphobia).

wait... wait.... are you saying Hentai... a cartoon based around various types of people f***ing.... Isn't for kids?! How can you say such things? Little Jimmy saw his first Hentai at 2 and won't watch anything else! ok I can't keep that up. I legit don't understand people that think if it has anything cartoonish in or on it it's obviously just for kids and kids should be allowed to watch all of it with no concerns or issues... Then again, I also don't get people that hear their kid say "mum/dad/guardian... I don't feel comfortable presenting as x gender can I maybe try using a different pronoun/wear different clothing please?" and immediately go into panic stations and start hypermasculating/feminating their child rather than just letting them know that whatever they are, as long as they're not hurting anyone else they're supported and valid (and no.."son" wearing a dress to school is not hurting anyone else even if someone else's feelings/pride is hurt by it.. unless said dress belongs to someone else at school without that person's permission... then maybe let them buy their own dress.)

@@rebeccabriggs9452 I general just don't get people. But that might be the autism 😂. The diagnosis of which was oddly harder for my mother to accept than me being enby for some reason? But seeing as I'm turning 35 tomorrow, neither thing is something she or my father has control over. Lol But yeah, the things I rented from blockbuster as a kid because they were "cartoons" so my folks assumed they were meant for kids.... Probably explains a bit about how I turned out 🤣. Big ol nerdy goth weirdo that I am. Then again, not really seeing the downside tbh... On a more serious note, too many people make wrong assumptions, jump to fear mongering, and for some weird reason stick their noses into business that does not concern them. I really wish more ppl would just focus on being kind and polite. And open to learning and willing to admit to ignorance. The world would be a much better place.

My response to that person - How kind of you to call this 53 year old person 'young!' :P NOT! Are you kidding me? I just had a 30 year old friend of 15 years finally admit to me they are trans. My response when hearing it? 'I need to research and study so I can do better than deal with my brain files going - NOT KNOWN!' This is how I came to find Jamie and several others. Thank you so much for putting your experiences out there. Between you and even people I have found to talk to face to face, it has helped me learn how to be a better friend. How well? For them to introduce me to their future life partner they never told me about until last month. 2 years of learning and accepting I'm going to make mistakes, and I've reached this point, finally! No, my friend hasn't been able to transition yet, but no matter. I'm here for them no matter what as they work through this to help be more comfortable and happy in their life. My deepest thanks to you and your wife, Jamie, for helping me be a more informed friend.
