I've always stated the MOODY BLUES were never the same without Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder . Those core 7 albums. Mike Pinder THE PROMISE is a great record. His influence is undeniable on Mellotron arrangements and Multi Instrumentalists. Rest Easy now Mike. ❤

Thank you for this tribute to the estimable Mike Pinder. As a Moodies fan for many years, and as you have observed, no-one was more responsible for creating their classic sound than was Mike. The core-7 Moodies really worked as a band, all five giving all they could to creating a series of seven superb albums. As keyboardist, songwriter, arranger and vocalist with his rich baritone, Pinder was integral to the chemistry of the band. It went on to many fine accomplishments after his departure, but was never quite the same. Thereafter, he lived relatively quietly, raised a family and comported himself like the class act he always was, turning out 2 solo albums and an award-winning children's album, all consistent with his vision of peace and brotherhood and completely immune to passing fads or trends. He and the Moodies had a huge impact on young people like I was then and my admiration and affection for him and the band remain to this day. Godspeed to a fine musician and a stand-up guy.

Mike certainly defined the Moody Blues soundscape during the classic years, and was the perfect player for them - amazing intelligence and sensitivity. The music evolved in the 80s and Patrick Moraz contributed hugely to that too - he's a great player without a doubt and also a very nice man, having met him. Though whether he was an over all good fit for the Moody Blues was debateable - I think Patrick himself would concede that he was pretty restricted in what he could do.

A very very sad day for music. Mike was a giant for Rock and Progressive Rock, may not have got the recognition he deserved, but is very well regarded by those in the know, a very important figure in Rock music, Mike's compositions and vocals were always a highlight on those classic Moodies albums, The band lost that ethereal feel after he left the band. We will miss you Mike, this one hurts x, thanks Pete for this lovely tribute

Thank you Pete for the great tribute to Mike Pinder. He will be so greatly missed. All five members of the original “Go Now” Moody Blues are now gone. I implore all Moody Blues fans who do NOT have the Moody Blues’ 1965 debut album, “The Magnificent Moodies,” to please pick it up. It’s a 50-50 combination of R&B originals and cover tunes, the music is great fun, and the band’s musicianship is awesome. Let’s all raise a toast to Denny Laine, Clint Warwick, Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge, the original Moody Blues. Rock on in heaven you guys. ❤️

I can not overemphasize how much of an impact Michael Pinder has had on me, musically, and especially, spiritually. Every Dec 27 I remembered him. He is the only musician I cared about enough to do this. His 1976 album, The Promise, has been my favorite album of all time since I first listened to it in that year, and remains, to this day. It is the only album on my wall at home. I think many of these commentators miss the point of Mike's music. He had a Message for us. Listen to the song Lost in a Lost World, off of the album Seventh Sojourn, or One Step Into the Light, from Octave, and you will see that you are in the middle of a blessing. I do not listen to rock n roll anymore (I am 66), and Michael is one of only a handful of musicians who have followed me from that genre onto my present path. I wish him well in his future awarenesses and endeavours.

May angels escort you to the Heavenly Realm, and i hope with all my heart, and understanding of such that there is a Musical Mansion, and Graeme is there, banging away at his drums, laughing and quipstering to cheer you on. Gardens of butterflies, hummingbirds, and playful squirrels to you, alwys Mr Mike. I so enjoyed your input during the quiet times.

The moody blues! My favorite band since I first heard story in your eyes on the radio when I was 15. I’ve seen them over 30 times, unfortunately Mike Pinder had left the band by then. I loved his solo album, the promise, will have to give that a listen again. I met him and his wife at a bookstore in San Jose California 25 years ago. Such a soulful guy. I had kept hoping that he would do a concert tour with the Moodies, but it never happened. Well, not in this life, but probably will be a fabulous reunion tour in the next world! But that will have to wait for Justin and John, nice we still have them here with us. I just sent simple game from RU-vid to my family and friends in honor of Mike Pinder💕

Thanks for your tribute to Mike Pinder. A wonderful ethereal musician, writer, vocalist & incredibly influential with his orchestral embellishments with that Mellotron & other instruments. The songs I listen to the most are both Pinder's & Ray Thomas, the veteran cosmic duo. I really like the other songs in certain places also, Justin Hayward is magical & John Lodge wrote some classics. All those spiritual & rather positive compositions are what made the Moodies in so many ways. Also those spoken word narrations that Graeme Edge penned, wonderful indeed. We have to make that journey, out & in. RIP. Mike. Cheers.

R.I.P. Mike Pinder ! It was somewhere in the late sixties that I met my brother walking along the street with a vinyl LP in hand , a piece of the rim simply missing .. It happened to be Days Of Future Passed .. less Dawn is a Feeling . And since that time The Moodies grabbed my mind and heart and never let me go even a stride away ! Why ?!
