WHOOOOOOOOOOOO... Seriously though, I'm glad you guys are doing okay, and still delivering the world famous podcast, The Weekly Planet. Thanks James and Maso!
I want James and Mason to announce every important statement to the world, but just fiddle their way through a two minute speech and make it an hour long
So I thought this was a random video essay but then I realized it was Monday which means new weekly planet So the days already off to a great start! Thank you guys! keep posting videos and recording podcasts we really appreciate it!
Loving Maso's ultimate confusion about Doom Eternal's super weapons, near the end of the podcast! 😂 For anyone interested here's what Mason gets wrong, which 2 weapons he mixes up and what the actual deal with them are: Mason talks about the Crucible (the red laser rune sword) but confuses it with the Unmaykr, which is a giant super powered plasma cannon (similar to the iconic BFG). One of the weapons is a bonus reward for difficult side mission battles, and the other is a big part of the end of the game so you get that for free. Both weapons are found around 70-80% through the main campaign, which means you can use both freely for the most battle intense, most difficult last 4-5 missions of the campaign! * To unlock the Unmaykr (laser cannon) you have to find and complete 6 different, hard special arenas, which all require you to find the key to unlock the arena first - and at the end gives you a different key. Basically every other campaign level has one of these arenas hidden. Complete all 6 to unlock the vault with the Unmaykr, which you can now use for the final 4 levels of the campaign. The game has about 12-13 levels, and the last 4 are by far the hardest and most intense. So you can definitely use the Unmaykr a ton before the game is over, not to mention it can really help against the final bosses! * The Crucible (red laser sword) is obtained halfway through the 5th to last campaign level, and can be used non-stop for several minutes at the end of that level, after which it can also be used for the last 4, hardest levels of the game. You get the crucible by playing normally, when you get to that level, and there is no need to battle special arenas or find hidden items. You can't miss the crucible, and you get to use it a lot if you want to. Both the Umaykr and the Crucible are super weapons, alongside the BFG, and as such you can use them at any point you'd like (after you obtain them), but they have VERY limited ammo which is scarce to re-supply. They are intended to be a "panic button" in super hard encounters near the end of the game. Doom Eternal is an amazing game and I strongly recommend buying it if you are at all interested in badass fps games! 😁
They play “Luck of the Irish” every year on St. Patrick’s Day on Disney Channel and it is TERRIBLE. I was home with a fever one year when it was on TV and I swore that I had dreamt it until I saw it on the TV listings a year later.
I think it would be great if you guys did a caravan of garbage on heroes, because that show had so much potential and the first season was great but due to the writers strike the rest of the show was absolute Garbage.
Other Star Trek cast members who did voices on Gargoyles: Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton, Kate Mulgrew, Nichelle Nichols, Colm Meaney, Avery Brooks and others I'm sure.
In case Maso ever reads these (he wont), with Doom, that big gun you need the 6 keys to unlock is just a fun new BFG like end game gun, its not the sword youre talking about. You unlock the sword later in the campaign in a proper ission, its not like a side quest or anything. Fun to use too
disney+ gets released in just a few hours in my country finally (since i have no clue where to find a proper vpn you see) so i cant wait to check all of that out
"Whatever happens over the next few months" HA! Rise of Gru just came out which seems crazy. I assume it was a production delay. So F'in weird to listen to early pandemic episodes
Oh. My. Gawd! The cheetah movie! Cheetah! I remember this movie, so clearly, especially the end. Holy shit! Never thought I would ever hear someone else talking about that movie. I thought I was the only person who remembered this movie. I thought it was lost to time and my very loose memory.
"The Apple Dumpling Gang" is one of the first films I ever saw in a theater. Don Knotts, Tim Conway and Bill Bixby. I can only vaguely remember it at all, but I should give it a rewatch.
Never thought Blackbeard's Ghost would make it onto the Weekly Planet. I think that film used to be on channel 4 (UK) about once a fortnight when I spent summer holidays at my grandparents' house as a kid in the 90s. When you only had four channels it was usually a good option to keep a child happy. It is better than you'd think for its time from the plot synopsis. Peter Ustinov is good.
Don't worry too much about the cheetah. Cheetahs are pretty delicate, they really aren't that dangerous, they make good pets if you are a weird dictator.
also watch the Dexter Riley trilogy with kurt russell. The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, followed by Now You See Him, Now You Don't and The Strongest Man in the World.
1:12:47 I’ve definitely seen that before. It was playing on Disney Channel all the time when I was a kid. From memory, it’s fine. Actually it’s probably terrible
Here in the Netherlands Disney+ has the first five seasons of Agents Of S. H. I. E. L. D. on it. The show gets ... really fucking weird at some points. I think the pinnacle is episode 9 of the first season, where they open a gate to literal Hell and one of the main characters has a weird rant about God.
Gargoyles is awesome. And has a bunch more Star Trek actors... Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Kate Mulgrew, Nichelle Nichols, Avery Brooks, Colm Meaney and LeVar Burton, plus more incredible talent like Keith David, Frank Welker, Ed Asner, Laura San Giacomo, John Rhys-Davies, Clancy Brown, Rocky Carroll, Jim Cummings, Sheena Easton, Matt Frewer, Cree Summer, Tim Curry, Peter Scolari, David Warner, Robert Culp, Diedrich Bader, CCH Pounder, Terrance Mann, Tony Jay, Tony Shaloub, James Avery, Hector Elizondo, Roddy MacDowell, and Rob Paulson, and probably a bunch more that I missed.
Gargoyles def holds up. The last season is a bit weird, because it seemed like they ket trying to spin it off. Also has guest stars of Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, and Nichelle Nichols, so totally Trek reunion.
34:04 funnily enough they talked zorro then vpn. i watched zorro a couple weeks ago on netflix in america. if mason used a vpn and watched american netflix he should be able to find zorro.
bedknobs and broomsticks was great i saw it at the pictures. i also love blackbeard's ghost. do not dis Peter Ustinov!!!! or the guy from the herbie movies. 82% on rotten tomatoes.
btw i love the theory that the vast majority of people in the star wars universe cant read, just got to gloss over rays jedi books she stole from luke lol
Disney should do a presale and say "look, we're greedy overlords, and if there's enough presales, we'll release black widow on demand, if not, it'll collect dust on a thumbdrive till we feel like releasing it"
i so so soooooooo dont care about the "Imagine" thing. A bunch of celebrities singing because of tragedy is nothing new. Hell Kenny Rogers (country singer) died a few days after this and one of the big things people were celebrating him for was a musical collab where they sung a song because of people starving in Africa
Trivia: they mentioned "Blackbeard's Ghost", "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and "Mary Poppins". They were all directed by the same person, Robert Stevenson. He directed a lot of Disney Stuff.
