YES I CRIED XD. This was such a tragically beautiful tale read by Baldemort. I truly think that this is one of the best narrations I've heard in a very long time. This story was beautifully conveyed and brought to life. I cannot thank you guys enough for recommending this masterpiece to me. 💖 Fulgrim and the Emperor's Children will always have a very special place in my heart now.

I think the best way to describe the warhammer community is "aggressively supportive". someone is like "hey anyone know about this warhammer thing?" and a thousand nerds pop out of nowhere "i am glad you asked, let me give you a quick 40 hour introduction about the basics, if you have any questions just ask...PLEASE... ASK ME!"

Fulgrim is my favorite Primarch and I'm glad to see you enjoyed it so much. All of the Traitor Primarchs have some form of tragedy as part of the story which makes them feel so much more compelling to me than the Loyalists. Besides Fulgrim, the most tragic is Magnus and I would suggest him high on your priority list.

I'm reading salamanders now. It's very very average. lol. I want the salamanders to be my favorite, i like their primarch a lot, but everyone is stealing their gimmick of being the one that cares about humans. Blood Angels, White Scars, Space wolves, Lamenters, ect.
@wiccanthropy1956
@wiccanthropy1956 Год назад
@Lazrael32 but none cares AS MUCH as the salamanders. None CAN, because they do not see humanity reflected in the eyes of their nieces nephews and siblings in the hearth of their own familial home. None see the joy that sparks them to greater deeds, experience the hug of a body so small their forearm is the little ones entire wingspan. That's the fire the salamanders carry out to the stars: the gentleness. The sight that they wish to see at their home is the one they pursue for every civilian they save. A home. Not a hab block. Not a hive city or feudal worlds continent. A home. They are the marines for personal salvation.
@Lazrael32
@Lazrael32 Год назад
@@wiccanthropy1956 i dunno man when you have to have the marines malevolent rescue you because you almost got your company killed trying to save a clearly dangerous magus i don't think your goodwill is well balanced. So many other chapters are able to effectively value human life and protect the empire. The Salamanders fault is that they allow it to weaken them. even their Successor chapter the black dragons wanted to save a world's people but were able to recognize once it had become futile and allow exterminatus. It's cool that you like the salamanders for the reasons that you do, but other chapters are able to recognize that humans are the imperium and that they need to protect them without making it their sole defining trait (really a gw problem).

45:35 Arguably, the Emperor had good reasons to keep it a secret. It didn't take more than the knowledge of the Chaos Gods existing to make Lorgar fall, after all. It's also not entirely clear if the Emperor actually didn't expect the Horus Heresy or not. Evidence does suggest that his plans involved something like it happening but he may not have expected it to play out or end exactly as it did.

Fulgrim is probably my favourite primarch because of the lols he gives me Loyalist Fulgrim is just over the top gloriousness and Traitor Fulgrim's levels of spite, arrogance and pettiness are just hilarious to me. He has a hissy fit and vowed never to sculpt again because someone implied his marble-work was "too perfect" like it had been pressed from a mould and had none of the artist within it. He had a meltdown screaming at the sky because someone had beaten him to the bridge of a ship that they had boarded. He killed his first captain Eidolon (who should have had one of the closer relationships with their gene-father) for asking a question... "WHEN I SPEAK, I AM THE *STAR* AROUND WHICH YOU ORBIT"

Ferris' death Very Very deeply scarred his sons. Not many people talk about it but Ferris tried to teach his sons to eliminate weakness within them. After he died they spent a LOT of time trying to figure out what happened and what their Primarch's weakness was. In the end they decided it was his emotions, humanity, and body. So they begun going the mechanicus way. Replacing their weak human body's with steel, and making their minds cold and logical. Their oldest members are rumored to be little more than a brain in terminator armor. willingly. They are so scary and cold that an actual man of iron (an A.I. from the golden age) is easily able to hide among their ranks. Joining the legion requires the severing of your arm. they are the least written about but the most terrifying of the loyalists by far.

49:00 This reminds of of when the Emperor's custodian Rah asks Emps about his ability to see the future and why he couldn't foresee the bad things that have come to pass. Below is the reference, Emps is powerful and doing his best against a very complex universe with hidden enemies trying to thwart him. ##### "Ra returned to the Emperor’s side and did as he was bid. The water rippled in sedate waves, sloshing around the rocks that lined the shore. At the horizon’s very edge, he could see the mirroring lip of another landmass. ‘I see another land. An island, perhaps.’ ‘It is Albia, many thousands of years ago. But that is unimportant. You see the shore. You know it is there. You know you could reach it by ship, or by swimming, or by flight. That is what you know.’ The Emperor’s dark eyes lost their focus. He faced towards the distant shore but Ra doubted He was still seeing it. ‘So you journey towards it. But all you can see is your destination. You cannot see the beasts below the water that devour travellers. You cannot know if the wind will blow and throw you aside from your course. And if the wind does blow, will it send you east? West? North? South? Will it shatter your craft completely? Perhaps there are rocks beneath the water, impossible to see until they grind and tear at the hull of your ship. Perhaps the inhabitants of that far shore will fire upon your craft before you can make landfall.’ The Emperor turned back to Ra, though curiously His eyes didn’t clear. ‘But you can see the shore, Ra. Did you fail to predict any of those possible flaws between here and there?’ ‘Perhaps I predicted them all, sire. Perhaps I factored in the possibilities of each one occurring.’ ‘Maybe so. And what of the eventualities you could not predict? Each passing moment is rich with a hundred thousand possible pathways. The craftswoman making your boat may suffer a heart failure before she can gift it to you. Or she decides not to offer you the boat at all. You say the wrong words to her. You offer the wrong currency. She lies to you, for she is a thief. An enemy sabotages your boat before you set sail. You reach halfway across this channel of water, only to see a more appealing coast to the east or west. Minute after minute, possibility upon possibility, path after path. All variables you are unable to see from where you stand at this moment.’ "

Baldermort is awesome. I talked to him once on Twitter when I was working on an animation using one of his narrations. Never ended up completing it but he was entirely fine with me using his content to enhance mine. Super nice guy too, very friendly. I did manage to get an introduction animation which was a servo-skull flying around with a red eye and parchment and its red eye scanned over the background and revealed, "A Baldermort Narration." And I sent that to him and he seemed to like it. Funny enough he used a different profile picture back then. Few months after I sent him that, he switched it to a servo-skull with parchment and a quill. I don't want to say I influenced it but - it is a pretty funny coincidence. XD 28:31 The saddest part I think of Fulgrim's story is that he was cloned by Fabius Bile (His main mad doctor) later on I believe and it was a clone that basically had his memories up to a certain point - from what I remember. A perfect clone too, even the Eldar could perceive him with the aura of a Primach (If I remember right.) And when his clone found out that in reality he fell to chaos he was super depressed and torn over the fact. Only to later end up sitting in a Necron museum for feasibly eternity. >.> Pretty sure the Blade of Laer just did a number on him. So somewhere out in the Warhammer world, there is a super depressed and ashamed Fulgrim that didn't fall to Chaos sitting in basically a Necron's glass jar on a shelf so he can point at it and go, "Yeah that one is super rare." The wrong Fulgrim got locked up. Poor old Eidolon also got his head chopped off by Fulgrim and revived like a day later because the cut was so clean Fabius was able to mend the relevant bundle of nerves in his spine, but apparently he was never quite - right. Sort of like a bad Frankenstein. 30:40 Also. Screw Erebus. He's literally the reason for the majority of the Galaxies problems. Granted, Big E basically burning a planet to the ground because Lorgar thought he was meant to be worshipped as a God did not help even remotely. Emperor wasn't exactly the best Dad. I'm sure other people in the comments have mentioned it but you need to do a long watch through of the Emperor Text to Speech series. Sadly it ended before it reached a full conclusion but... It's worth a watch. They poke fun at that fact quite often.

Part of why the Emperor withheld knowledge of chaos was to prevent the dark gods from being empowered by his own armies as they fought the great crusade , ignorance of chaos was a more reliable solution than caution against chaos because the gods can’t draw power from those who do not know they exist.

Fulgrim is my favorite character in all of 40k especially the Imperial version of him however the character arc of him not being able to come to terms with his imperfection does require him to fall. And I also love the chaos side of Fulgrim but for very different reasons. That version of Fulgrim is just very entertaining due to his constant overdramatization and bursts of emotions especially when paired with a straight man like Perturabo.

I am of the opinion that chaos fulgrim is fulgrim's soul merged with the demon in the blade. So he is a very different character. he certainly isn't the person at the end of the video. you can hardly see that person inside. Such bad writing in a way because up to this point fulgrim had the most interesting chaos story. It's why i like Huron and the Red Corsairs story. You really understand why they fell to chaos and it wasn't just on a whim.

@@Lazrael32 Yeah I think "The reflection crack'd" was just a collective "Wait what?" moment for everyone reading it. And during Angel Exterminatus it felt on one hand not at all like Fulgrim because of how much he mocked Ferrus but on the other hand it feels so much like Fulgrim to shout from the rooftops about how you are the only primarch to have killed another primarch. After all he was known for being a braggart. Then again I think the character arc for imperial Fulgrim did feel wrapped up during the dialogue with Delafour where he whole heartedly rejected that imperfection could be beautiful which in my interpretation at least is a metaphor for Fulgrim being unable to ever overcome his inferiority complex. So idk where else that character could go. So I think using Chaos to take the character in a new direction worked quite well and the character at least for me stayed quite enjoyable even though it is a different character.

I love the IIIrd Legion. They’re my favorite Traitor Legion and my favorite Legion period in the pre-heresy era. I love their color scheme, their champions, and their sense of style (pre-Heresy their armor was just beautiful to look at!). But what I love most of all is that they perfectly represent just how far you can fall when you turn to chaos. While there were exceptions to this, such as Saul Tarvitz, the pre-Heresy III'rd were considered excessively proud and presumptive. Their command staff, like Eidolon, were notorious for treating other legions like dung on his boot heel. Part of that may be the influence of their geneseed and flat out arrogance. But it is also rooted in an uncomfortable fact about the III'rd that haters like to ignore. They were really, really good. And not just at siege tactics, or melee, or asymmetrical warfare, or the other "specializations" that characterized the other legions. They were good at everything they did. The best? No, unless you ask them (which was part of the problem). Were they better than, say, the Imperial Fists at defensive operations? No, but they were closer to the Fists than almost any other legion in that regard. And they were that way at practically everything they did. They were nipping at the heels of every other legion, constantly reminding them that if they didn’t stay on top of their game they’d lose their spot as the best at "INSERT TACTIC HERE." Their whole thing was that they were obsessive perfectionists, especially after Fulgrim got involved. In the main that made them amazing soldiers who were exacting in their conduct. Failure in any aspect of their performance would trigger them to ensure it never happened again. In some cases failure focused individuals to become the pre-eminent experts in a particular subject. Everyone loves to point out how Lucius lost to Loken in a blade duel, but practically no one talks about Loken's realization later on that he could never beat Lucius a second time after seeing how much Lucius had improved as a result of his loss. Imagine that. Your legion is known for being the best at TACTIC, but you know that there’s this guy in the III'rd who is just as good at TACTIC as your people are. If not better. Maybe it's only one, but he's there. That's a bitter pill for transhuman war machines to swallow. And post-Heresy? Their obsession with perfectionism condensed into a singularity of perversion and excess. Many of the other legions that fell still retain a purpose that drives them. The Thousand Sons still want to delve into the mysteries of the Warp and pursue hidden or forbidden knowledge. The Death Guard want to spread Nurgle’s gifts to every corner of the universe. The Word Bearers want to convert everyone in the Imperium to Chaos worship. The Alpha Legion still want to carry out their intricate schemes and strategies. The Night Lords, the high school bullies of the Traitor Legions, still want to torture and terrify anyone weaker than themselves. The Iron Warriors still want to prove that they’re better than the Imperial Fists, and of course we all know what became of the Sons of Horus. Even the World Eaters warbands still have a goal in the midst of their blood-rage: slaughter in the name if Khorne's ascendancy, where once they did so in the name of the Imperium. The IIIrd Legion, though, is different. They don’t have any goals beyond experiencing new sensations, everything and everyone else be damned. Slaanesh exposed them to the worlds of excess that their warrior conditioning and iron-clad discipline had denied them, and they became as obsessed with that as they were with being perfect warriors. And that's one of the most tragic aspects about them. When their focus on self-improvement was overridden and replaced by their compulsion for self-indulgence, they lost what made them such a powerhouse in the Crusade. And after the Heresy, it got even worse for the once-mighty IIIrd. Their constant need for new slaves and flesh toys led them to begin attacking the other Traitor Legions. This led directly to the Legion Wars, which Abbadon ended by crashing a space hulk into Harmony and in so doing shattered whatever unity the Emperor’s Children still had. Of all the Traitor Legions, their fall was the furthest, the swiftest, the most unexpected, and the most needless. Once they were the Emperor’s most devoted servants, to the point where He gave them the Palatine Aquila, His personal Sigil, to wear on their armor as a mark of His esteem. No other Legion ever attained such a glorious honor, not even the Sons of Horus. Compare that to what the IIIrd Legion is now.

I love the IIIrd Legion. They're my favourite Pre-traitor Legion from all the traitors, post Heresy they change alot. I love their colour scheme, their champions and their sense of style. But what I love most is just how perfectly they represent how far you can fall when you turn to Chaos. While there were exceptions to this such as Saul Tarvitz, the Pre-Heresy Emperor's Children were considered especially proud and presumptive. Their command staff, like Eidolon, were notorious for treating other Legions like dung on their boot heel. Part of that may be the influence of their Geneseed and flat our arrogance, or maybe from the fact that from Terra at least the recruits would come from nobility. But it is also rooted in an uncomfortable *fact* that alot of IIIrd haters really like to ignore: *They were really, really good* And not just at Siege tactics, or melee, or asymmetrical warfare or any other "specialisation" that characterised all other Legions. They were good at EVERYTHING they did. The best? No, unless you ask them (which was part of the problem). Were they better than say the Imperial Fists at defensive operations? No, but they were closer to the Fists than almost every other Legion in that regard. And they were that same way with practically *everything* that they did. They were constantly nipping and running right on the tail of every other Legion, constantly reminding them that if they didn't stay on top of their game they'd lose their spot at "INSERT TACTIC HERE." Honestly they were like specialised Ultramarines in that sense and I honestly believe they'd be considered the best Legion had they had the same or even similar numbers as the XIIIth Their whole thing was that they were obsessive perfectionists, and especially after Fulgrim got involved. He inhereted a Legion of less than 200 men Vith, can you imagine that? Less than 200. Many might see it as a curse but Fulgrim saw it for what it was, a blessing in disguise. Fulgrim was the ONLY Primarch who got to build his Legion from the very ground up, he molded his Legion into his own perfection with nearly no obstacles like ingrained legion culture or a stagnant status quo to stop him. He personally trained and drilled his men and as you heard even the human Solar Auxiliary with him, so in that sense the IIIrd was the Legion that was closest to their Primarch in ability. That type of culture spread because when new recruits entered the IIIrd, they didn't find Veterans who now had to adjust to the rule of their Primarch like every other Legion, they came into a Legion that run like a well oiled machine. I'm not sure if you comprehend how big of an effect having basically mini Primarchs building a Legion can have, seeing as Fulgrim surely mentored each of them. The damn recruits they spat out was essentially equivalent to a Sergeant of any other Legion in combat prowess. And so can you imagine that? You're so few that you can sleep with your Primarch, eat with him, go on the morning run with him, go to the gun range together, recite poetry to one another, discuss philosophy, get tutored on insane tactics and just see how he carries himself. The breed of Astartes that would create is absolutely astounding and that's why the whole Legion ended up becoming like that, even when it became big and Fulgrim had a less of a presence. That's why failure in any aspect would spur them to ensure it never happened again. In some cases even, failure pushed individuals to become pre-eminent experts in a particular field. Everyone points to how Lucius lost to Loken in their mock duel, but practically no one points to how Loken realises that he could never beat him a 2nd time after seeing his improvement due to the loss. Imagine that? Your Legion is know for being best at TACTIC, but there's this one fuckin' guy in the IIIrd that's just as good at "TACTIC" as all your guys, if not just out right better at it. Yeah maybe it's only one guy, but he's there. I imagine that's a tough pill for transhuman war machines who specialise in one thing to swallow. And Post-Heresy? Oh man. Their focus on perfectionism, condensed into a singularity of perversion and excess. Many of the other Legions that fell still retain a purpose that drives them and for them, that purpose was made more. More than ever, the Thousand Sons want to delve into the mysteries of the Warp and pursue hidden knowledge and due to Tzeentch, are now more psychically powerful than ever. The Death Guard want to spread Nurgle's gift all over the universe and their already present resilience has only been multiplied ten fold by the blessings of the Grandfather. Even the World Eaters, in all their anger and rage became more, finally becoming the true Berserkers and ultimate warriors they always wanted to be with the hand of Khorne pushing them forward. But the IIIrd? What did they become, more perfect? They don't have any goals besides experiencing more sensations, everything and everyone else be damned. Slaneesh exposed them to so many pleasures that their warrior conditioning and iron-clad discipline denied them, and they became as obsessed with that as they were with being perfect warriors. And that's one of the most tragic aspects about them. When their focus on self improvement was overriden by and replaced by their compulsion for self indulgence, they lost the very thing that made them such an absolute powerhouse during the Great Crusade. And after the Heresy it got even worse for the once might IIIrd. Their constant need for new slaves and flesh toys led them to begin attacking other legions, which directly resulted in the Legion Wars of the traitors and which shattered the last bit of unity the Emperor's Children had. Of all the traitor Legions, their fall was the furthest, swiftest, most unexpected and of all else, the most needless. Once they were the Emperor's most devoted servants, to the point he gave them the Palatine Aquila, his personal Sigil, to wear on their armour as a mark of his high esteem of them. I tell you Vith no other Legion attained such a glorious honour, not even Horus and his Luna Wolves. And now look at them, a Legion of craven animals and crazed lunatics. And people wonder why the Emperor might've thought it a good idea to keep Chaos quiet? By the Throne, look what they have taken from us, look what they have done. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

While its true that Big E fucked up not telling his sons about Chaos, he did have good reasons for it even if it was the wrong decision. Chaos does corrupt and it is suspected (canon maybe) that part of the power used to create the primarchs was stolen from the dark gods by Big E and that he forsaw that some of his sons would fall to chaos as a result. He probably thought that if he told his sons that they would have all become vunrable to Chaos in some way. (truth is that no one knows why exactly Big E didnt tell them)

Baulder's is definitely one of the best 40k channels in my opinion. He has a grasp of not just the facts but an uderstanding of the nuance and subtle details of the setting, that allows for short stories that let you feel like you are there. Luetin is definitely good at lore and covers much more content but lacks that nuance. AborderPrince is also a fantastic channel for similar reasons. But bauldermort "gets" 40k and is able to covey it in his videos. As for which side I prefer. I prefer the side before chaos. He was 40k's chance at humanity's golden age remade, and I'm not even a fan of humanity in 40k.

ALSO, BIG Part that I missed from Baldemort if he did correct it: In "Fulgrim" the fifth Horus Heresy book it described the situation of Fulgrim's after picking up the Laer sword. His army tried to "free him from the sword" only to find out that Fulgrim had conquered the demon and wanted this change. He welcomed chaos and he purposely changed his own army.

Fulgrim was influenced heavily by his apothecary who happens to be the best and brightest one in the entire emporium. I just can't remember his name right now... .... I don't like that piece of lore, that isn't Fulgrim. Fulgrim is the one who let go after he saw what he did on Istvaan so it wouldn't make sense he'd just accept Slaneesh, that's why it makes more sense that his spirit went into Clonegrim. Clonegrim is loyal,true and regretful. If that's not his true soul, then where did it come from?

@@ironduke5058 so i dont want to poop on your party, cause if you truly like the character you should like the character and more power to you. As for character development and psychology and why i think it would make sense, is something i have personally dealt with. When you have almost doggedly pushed a belief/ a way of being and are forcibly stopped it can be freeing. Almost like a drug. Which in every sense fits him. The clone is a good question. I personally would love to see more about him, but highly doubt it will see much more attention. Between the clone and him it brings forth how many possibilites of exterior forces shaping our personalities. It also bring up the diverse dichotomy of each human individual personality. Could imagine a series where clone tried to chase down demon. The incredible story telling that could be told.

In later parts of Luetin's Emperor of Man videos he has some heretical theories as to why The Emperor didn't tell Primarchs about Chaos. He even dares to say that The Emperor is a false God in his "THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND IS A FALSE GOD" video. Okay one more comment and I'll be quiet.... This is not canonized in lore but remember that the emperor was working on the webway project. The emperor's... Like 50,000 or something years old. These primarks are barely 200 years old If I do the math and put the puzzle together..... I know this is true. Chaos feeds on human emotion. The warp feeds on belief human emotion fear dreams and so on and so forth. The webway project was almost complete when Magnus (attempting to do the right thing) destroyed. The web way makes the warp mute and the emperor knew if he could just finish the web a project before the primarks learned about chaos then there would be no trouble Remember the primarks are 20 of the most powerful beings that have ever existed and if they feed chaos in the warp that kind of energy it's unstoppable. So the emperor never said anything. He could not give 20 of the most powerful beings that have ever been created knowledge of something that feeds off of human emotion. So in my opinion he.... I don't know rolled out plausible deniability? He lied for the betterment of everyone but it wasn't really a lie It was more like a secret That's not in the lore.... At least as far as I know but I've done the math and I think that's what happened
