Hi, my guess is that you are reacting to comments, but why? Here’s a lad that has little money to spend but is passionate about biking. Turned to you for help after being ripped. You do your best to get it back to a nice bike without breaking the bank. Credits to you! Personally I love seeing you work on projects like these, shed builds remember. We can all relate to broken bolts, not having all the tools to do it correctly or having to park stuff for a week that turned into 6 months and have no idea where what went. So keep them coming and put a nice sofa or hammock up.

Love to see you working Craig . I used to use a pencil ( today I'd use a felt tip) on the piston the show the location of the ring pegs. Made it less anxious when refitting the cylinder onto the piston.

I used to have a 5mm End mill for snapped m6,,,,flattens the shit out so you can find center easier, if that makes sense

Saw a video about removing studs snapped deep like that. He used a piece of copper tube knocked in to the hole and cut off just above the surface. With a mig welder, cut the wire long but make sure you cut the wire as the black bit at the end has high resistance. Touch the wire down on the stud then weld a tack, then another tack and keep building up until the weld is well above the surface, then weld a nut to the "stalactite" of weld. Wait for it to cool off, then unscrew using the nut

Don't worry about not been perfect you are doing a great job

What I find works is fill the hole with jb weld then you can keep the drill bit in the middle guided by the jb weld

I'd have measured centres between the two holes, got a small piece of 1/4 bar or plate drilled one side to suit the bolt hole that was OK and drilled the other tapping drill size to use as a jig to drill out the broken bolt, just a wee tip, not trying to tell you your job, your doing some great work Craig.😉

couldnt you flip the gasket, so that the fat part is at the top, punch a new hole and , trim off the excess, save getting another new one , if the rest of the holes and faces meet up craig, just a thought

Craig you haven't mentioned what the MRI experience was like. I had to go in head first for 30 min and I didn't like it at all, I think it's made me claustrophobic.
