You're supposed to start with the first game because you don't know anything about Edgeworth yet. For an average game player, you're supposed to be: 1st - intimidated by his reputation (became prosecuting attorney at the age of 20, never lost, cold, heartless machine that would do anything for a guilty verdict) 2nd - disgusted by his tactics (second autopsy report) 3rd - seriously irritated with the man (insisting that the wiretap has nothing to do with the murder) 4th - confused by him (hints that him and Phoenix know each other before the second day of the trial) 5th - reaaaaly hate him (general behavior in the remaining of Turnabout Sisters) 6th - wanting to strangle him (his objection tight before the verdict) 7th - get some laughs because you get immense joy out of any second he suffers (Oldbag scenes in Turnabout Samurai) 8th - flip out (his out-of-nowhere objection to Vasquez) 9th - suddenly love this guy (hilarious stuttering, uncertainty and suddenly helping you) 10th - get curious about him (vague conversation after the verdict) 11th - be like *OMG WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!?* (the intro of Turnabout Goodbyes) 12th - get uncertain whenever he's really guilty or not (his refusal to accept help) 13th - get sorry for him (the reveal of DL-6) 14th - have him suddenly turn into your favorite character because he's so deep and dark backstory and everything *THIS.* This entire journey is not possible if you play Ace Attorney Investigations first. Are you seriously suggesting that they're not mentioning Phoenix to avoid SPOILERS for a CHARACTER!? Sorry, but this is just ridiculous. You would get nothing about Phoenix if you just mentioned his name. Edgeworth, however, got all the spoilers you can imagine. I hardly see how that's fair.

ImLothLuin Ahem. It seems like you have forgotten of a certain sentence. "Play a game in anyway you want", for instance, you could play AAI2, followed by one. Or the DD, followed by the first ever PW.

Jacob Rutter Oh I know, and I get your point, but tell me how you're supposed to avoid spoilers in a crime-novel-style-game if you're playing out of order?? Don't get me wrong, you can play a game anyway you want, and you can read a book anyway you like - read the last page first if you like, it's your decision. But when you do, it should be obvious you'll be dealing with BIG spoilers. My point point still stands. Despite Phoenix being the original protagonist of the series, he's heavily underused. (I know I'll sound like a nerd, but out of curiosity) I carefully calculated the appearances of Phoenix and Edgeworth in *all* the games, and guess what? Despite Phoenix having more games dedicated to his arc, his appearance rate is 55% against Edgeworth's 45%. Edgeworth has only TWO GAMES with his character's name, while Phoenix has THREE. It's because Edgeworth shows up in every AA game in person (with the exception of Apollo Justice). Scientific evidence, *TAKE THAT!* xD ...maybe I take this too seriously. But I also noticed that Phoenix has the least developed backstory of out of the main leads. For example, Edgeworth, Apollo, Maya and Athena, we all know their family situations and their parents names. We know absolutely NOTHING about Phoenix's family. Ever thought about that? Well, I think the verdict should be pretty obvious by this point, Your Honor. ;)

I think the wordplay works better in Japanese than in English. Maybe he just forgets Phoenix has a name? Okay that was just the non-serious guess. Maybe it's to keep Kay out of the loop? I'm really not sure, but there's probably a good reason. Or maybe it just relates to the Japanese belief that if you talk about someone, they sneeze, so they don't want Phoenix to know he's being talked about. I'm pretty sure though, it has nothing to do with spoilers. Also, yeah, I think he counts Larry as a friend and someone who helped him change, especially since Larry was the one who saved his sorry British bum in the first game from being convicted of murder and thinking he killed his dad. Larry was the one who allowed the case to continue, after all, by showing up when he did, and it was his testimony that broke through the case. Larry IS his friend, even if he's unwilling to admit it.

Yeah, that's the dude who framed Larry Butz and then was put away by Phoenix Wright a while back. That's roughly 3 years ago in the Ace Attorney Universe's timeline. I would imagine Frank Sahwit and Phoenix Wright crossing paths again in 2029. Also, the not too impressed look on Phoenix's face was great.

There has been cursing in the official translations though. Phoenix says 'damn', sawhit says 'dammit' in 1-1's intro, engarde calls his 'refreshin as the spring breeze' thing 'crap', list goes on.

Sometimes the blue text is also the charactors mumbling to themselves. Considering the first turnabout when Phoenix signals Larry to tell the truth, in blue text, it's thought but also lightly thinking out loud to themsselves

It is also clearly stated that Kay knows what he is thinking from the look on his face.
