That did really bother me. How is it that every single spider man is fine with letting their family and loved ones die? No way not at least half of them would be protesting. It was incredibly depressing and out of character for ALL of them to be okay with it. Also the stakes of the “world collapsing” is so blah. It’s so repetitive and unimaginative
Because many believe they couldn’t do anything about it, it was destiny and couldn’t stop it if they tried, they fact they now the world would be destroyed is because of Miguel’s actions, but the film literally leaves you questioning if he is right or if there is something else happening, even Spider-Man India didn’t know and they were going to let it happen, it also seems most of the society knew and were keeping it a secret from the rest
I’ve seen this criticism come up a lot and I do agree with it, despite REALLY loving this movie. The best argument I can give is this. Is all these Spider people being ok with their loved ones dying to save the universe realistic? No. But Is it believable in the movie? Yes. They give a reasonable argument for why Miguel and the Spider Society would let Canon events happen as you see the consequences and their mindsets. It’s not realistic but it is believable
Well I assumed it was already over with for a lot of them. That wasn’t all the spidermen(I think). They seem like they select ones they like. And some of them still may have disagreed tried and the person still dies. Miles didn’t save anyone yet. So we will see. I also agree tho that kind of seems out of Spider-Man’s morals. I’m not the biggest fan but I never took spiderman as someone who would willingly accept and sit back. So yeah I agree.
I think the problem comes down to Miles. They already had his character arc solved and done in the first film. The second film doesn't give him a proper storyline that is equal or better to the original. Like you said, this really was just a cash-grab set up movie that the studio wanted, while the writers were more interested in making a Gwen movie since she actually has motivation and drive since her character arc wasn't resolved yet. And really, I think the public would have been fine if this movie was Gwens, then maybe the next movie be about someone else who was set up here. They're called "Spider-verse" it's not impossible to have different protags each film. I guess the studio was afraid not to use Miles as the main character in fear of audiences getting confused, but when you can't come up with anything for him to do that actually matters then... you shouldn't make him the main character! This time, let him be Gwen's side-kick. It's not that hard of a concept.
Personally I disagree I think miles was all right but it would have interesting for them to make a movie with Gwen. Although I'm excited to see that new sparterverse short starring miles that we're supposed to begin a hopefully next year
I don't see anything wrong with it really. I just think that though his character is pretty much done developing, now all that's left is to test it in general. Putting him in a setting that doesn't just test his integrity, but also gives him the chance to inspire the other spider-men and women. Like Gwen, Peni, Peter B. Parker, and so much more we may or may not see in Beyond the Spider-verse. Now his integrity and grip on his values will be further tested by the confrontation of a Miles Morales who not only has none of them, but seems to have had them at some point, but loses them completely since he lost the person who meant something to him. Though a Spider-Man is said to need a tragedy for them to become a hero, it is questionable what kind of hero Earth 42 Miles is. It also means there is one more way he can grow, by recognizing his impact as Spider-Man.
Why are you one of the few guys out here telling the truth?? The movie was beautiful, yes. Animation was great. But the movie SUCKED. I was bored and I did not care about half the stuff going on. And I LOVE spiderman. This movie made me not CARE about spiderman or any spidermen. Thank you for the rant. I’m glad I’m not alone.
On some real shit, I was one of those people that was blinded by excitement that I turned my brain off while watching the movie. Now that I think about it, the movie is just okay. The ending completely ruined everything.
@@Wortwort-Spooderbat Yeah the ending was so awkward like I'm I suppose to be laughing at the same tied to a bag trick from the first movie (which was better than this)
@@za-ir5ni throughout portions of this movie they were just panning on animated faces for a minute straight with no dialogue. The fights felt drawn out and could have been resolved in this movie. Miles parents constantly telling them they love him multiple times. The parents keep having the same conversation with him like 5 different times and it drags the movie. The jokes were starting to get overbearing, didn’t hit for the most part and I could see the setups for most of them. That really dragged the movie. Also the Gwen section felt disconnected and could’ve been cut down. This movie needed to cut a lot of fat.
@@mefirstplease3676 "they were just panning on animated faces for a minute straight with no dialogue" So this is an outright lie lol. That literally doesn't happen a single time. I know every scene by heart so you need to cite a single scene that does that. "The fights felt drawn out" Which fight was drawn out. Again, no specifics. Because the fights went by pretty quick. "Miles parents constantly telling them they love him multiple times" His mom tells him that one time in the movie. Try again. "The parents keep having the same conversation with him like 5 different times" Incorrect. The few conversations between Miles and either one or both his parents was regarding a different subject each time. For example, the first one in the counselor's office was about his future and moving away, the one at the party was about him hiding things from them, the one with his mom was about her accepting him growing up and telling him to never forget who he is, etc. So yeah, this is just demonstrably false. "The jokes were starting to get overbearing" Has nothing to do with the pacing. That's just you subjectively not liking the humor. Which is fine. Because I thought the jokes landed and so did the vast majority of people. "Also the Gwen section felt disconnected and could’ve been cut down" That's the overall arc of the entire film lol. What? What the fuck did you think the intro was for? Her arc gets resolved at the end. Total lack of media literacy here. "This movie needed to cut a lot of fat" There is almost no fat. You just didn't understand those scenes because almost every one has a purpose. The most you could possibly cut out is maybe a few mins. In summary, all you're saying is that you don't like intimate character moments and slower pacing. Which isn't an argument against the film. It just seems like a you problem for yourself and the dipshit who made this review.
@@za-ir5ni bruh respectfully, I ain’t reading all that shit. Your reply was almost as long and drawn out as this movie. Again how many times do we have to see his family have an “I love you scene”?
@mefirstplease3676 That's what I thought. No response to me destroying every single point. I don't blame you for that. Already stated that happened literally only one time in film. You're just outright lying.
His opinion is beyond valid and I agree with what he said about the pacing. Gwen's development is put into a more major focus in the story in order for her to become more developed. But because miles is the main character they struggle to come back around to him. I especially agree with what he said about the setup. I dislike how he expresses his opinion, using the word "overrated" and mocking people who do like it in the beginning. I generally dislike how quick he is to mock people who see the movie differently instead of focusing on his unique perspective at the start of the video. I feel that he doesn't fully comprehend several story beats and forgot alot of when happened despite making a critique on it. I feel like he should've rewatched it to really reflect on spots motivation and how it seemed like his life got ruined one day and he became something he never wanted to be (parallel to miles in the first movie) but instead of being supported by his family and making a leap of faith he's left alone and isolated from humanity, with noone left to blame but the kid who laughs at him and made a joke out of him despite giving him the powers that made him so special. Miles growing from trusting his friends and wanting to be part of a community that finally understands him unlike his parents only to greet an entire spider society that doesn't agree with what decision he wants to make. With gwen and Peter B backstabbing him he stops depending on the society to welcome him, instead fighting against it and distancing himself from his friends. I think alot of the story's chaos was as a result of having a more complex plot, and because they only had two movies they had to heavily condense it down.
Character Assassination is the perfect way to describe the Spider-Society. No way any Spider-Man would be okay with letting people die because of Miguel's nonsensical theory
@@stiepanholkien605maybe because that the point, maybe because we are supposed to like miles, we don’t know anything about the spidermen or the spider society, but what we are given and told, we are excited to see them, but when we do we are like miles, shock and even disgusted by the fact they are willing to let people dude for a “canon” events to happen, but also question their morality about it, they didn’t ruined the previous Spider-Man, they got stuck with a lose lose situation, tell miles that his dad will die causing his universe to be destroyed or let it happen and live the fact fact of not doing anything and they fact that he was never supposed to me Spider-Man, and Miguel wasn’t done bad, before we found out why he had it against miles, the trailer made it seem he would be the main villain and many theories were made the he and the spot we’re working together or it had something to do with his daughter, among other theories, and then the film comes out and we are like: oh that make sense and we kinda agree with him or man grief and guilt have left him misguided on what he is supposed to do, the film literally is made for the people who didn’t see miles as Spider-Man and him being his own character who isn’t a copy of Peter Parker
Watched it on Prime yesterday. It honestly feels like they made the first movie for 30+ year olds that read a couple comics in the 90's and watched the Sam Raimi movies (w\ Tobey Maguire) in the 00's, only to switch to an audience of 5 to 10 year olds in the new one. No character development, incoherent plot that isn't even remotely resolved and constant screaming and talking and no sincerety what so ever.
it felt like they came up with all the funny cool scenes and cool animation b4 plot, and they were like oh we actually have to make a movie out of this
Yeah too much concept they forget to trim the fat. They wanted too many scenes to be deep and then hashed it together lazily with fan service and action that the story ends up dragging on.
to me it actually felt like they just wanted to take the most money out of this saga of spider verse so instead of making one movie that actually had an ending, decided to divide it into two and make the first one end on a cliffhanger. An example of a movie that has two parts but does it well is infinity war. when the movie ends you know the story isn't over but you feel like the movie had an ending. This movie is great in almost everything it does to me but the fact it ends without actually giving us some sort of conclusion makes the movie a lot worse than it could have been.
The blatant pandering got me. NO a 8 month pregnant woman shouldn't be fighting super villains. There are thousands of spidermen standing around. She can take a couple months off. And the only spidermen that help Miles is the cool black punk dude and the cool black VR girl that he's only shared a few words with but everyone else wants to kill his dad? AND Miles keeps getting free powers without paying for them. 616 spiderman has to be a super genius and spend all his cash to web sling. 2099 is addicted to drugs and needs blood sometime. BUT Miles? Nope. He can out swing, absorb any energy, electro shock, turn invisible, evade others' spider senses and go toe to toe with the strongest of spidermen. Plue he always has the moral high ground. His only struggles is he's too good and the world is literally against him because he's built different. It was a Marry Sue, power fantasy, victimization wet dream.
So that what you got instead of actually watching to movie, miles is not better than all the other Spider-Man, they failed to catch because, there a lot of them who probably are the only super hero in their universe, they don’t work will together, they underestimating miles, most of the people chasing him didn’t even know why or at least aware of the canon events and finally miles made himself the bait so all of them would leave the tower and make it easy for him to get back and go back to his universe. I feel you need to watch some else review of it to help you explain it better, although I do agree on you with spider woman being pregnant and still being active on hero’s work
They completely ruined the character of Peter b Parker. In last film he had depression but he still IS Spiderman and he is very smart. He is not dumb enough to bring his 2 3 yo daughter to multiverse. His whole character is now "meet my daughter, talk to my daughter". And wheretf is his suit. We need og red and blue on Peter b.
This may just be a "glass half full" take but I saw it as a flex. Peter B likely has more experience than anyone else in that building and they treated with due respect. Doubt Miguel would allow anyone else to interrupt his rant, board his command platform, and talk down to him. Besides there are worse places he could take his daughter than a building filled with superheroes, any of which he would trust with his life. Worst he did in my opinion is boarding that train to the moon. Even with a space elevator (that was apparently heated and maintained a comfortable atmospheric pressure), it was easily the most danger she was exposed to.
Yeah, the plot sank quicker then the titanic. "Captain stacy needs to die otherwise the universe will implode!" Ok, so we have the live action Sam Raimi trilogy, Mark Web's amazing Spiderman, and Tom Holland's MCU spiderman shown in this film, First problem is that Captain stacy never died in Sam Raimi's trilogy or MCU's spiderman. And keep in mind they state it has to happen in that way but in Amazing Spiderman, Captain stacy gets stabbed saving Peter and not crushed saving a kid so already Miguel is talkin smack. Second problem with the plot is that Miguel destroyed his universe just by living in it and being an anomaly and Miles is said to be the original anomaly so how is his universe fine? And my 3rd problem is that It kinda feels like Miles is just there but doesn't really go on much of a character arc as there ain't really any moments like Leap of faith like ITSV. I think the only character who has any evolution is Spot as he goes from a goofy villain to... still a goofy villain just slightly more powerful and a little less goofy. also I feel like some of these people who defend the movie are either from another country or are really young because their English isn't very great.
@@madhattermaker622 Your grammar is by far the worst I've come across. Particularly with capitalizing the beginnings of sentences and distinguishing between 'then' and 'than.' It appears there are key aspects that you might have overlooked, and I'd encourage you to take a closer look at those points. Great movie btw!
@@eddyteddy5138 Bit rich when you didn't capitalise the beginning of "the plot is amazing" and didn't add a full stop at the end but whatever. The chemistry between Miles and Gwen is great but keep in mind that the other issues weigh the film down for me. also I'm fine with some english mistakes here and there but if you look through the replies of some of these comments, you'll notice a recurring pattern with how they word their arguements like repeating words 2 or 3 times even and flat out spelling things incorrectly. and whilst we're at it, the english language is stupid to me anywyas because we had to create 2 versions of the word "Your" like Your and You're. I get "You're" is You are but if I said "Your amazing!" it's not like you needed a symbol and a few extra letters, common sense should've done most the work for you. *Edit: actually, I'm gonna take back what I said about "A bit rich" but leave it up there anyways because I can't help but feel cowardly if I got rid of it. Im so glad you agreed with everything I thought. People telling me I’m crazy. Nah man, this movie suuuuccked. I left the theater angry like I got ripped off. So many plot holes, awful story telling, first half of the movie was so boring. You nailed it.

If you're up for it, I recommend rewatching the masterpiece of a movie this is as it might provide you with a fresh perspective, considering you overlooked numerous key moments. Which were specifically designed to delve into Miles and Gwen's character growth. It almost seems as though you might have only read through a brief summary of the film.
You're completely right, they could've cut some fat and remove a lot of stuff and instead of leaving the movie in a cliffhanger, wrap it up by the last half hour. Instead they just focus on selling you the next movie, without even delivering on this one.

you say this as if miles didn't practically say the words "we need to stop the spot" at like several points in the movie his first objective in the movie was stopping spot. literally. This objective just got more and more important as the spot grew stronger. That's not even mentioning the whole "i can do both" story plot that miles goes through instead of abiding by miguel's rules it's as if some of you people never even watched the movie and just want to have a different opinion for the sake of being different

Gwens conflict was with her dad and we do see her make up with he dad. Conflict and Resolution. Nuff said.

I could not agree more! The first half of this movie was so boring, the action was great and miles felt out of character. Also I was straight faced the entire movie. 😐
honestly, the first half also felt really boring. i wouldnt say the movie is trash or garbage but it felt boring on many parts. it didnt even have a proper climax scene or anything, it was just setting up for the next movie. wish they did more on the antagonists and did more on the plot. and i also think i was straight faced for most of the movie. i got hyped on a few parts, including the ending (my favorite scene in the ENTIRE movie)
I think it's pretty obvious the crew was just way over their heads with this story and just wanted to keep pouring more more and more into it to realize their vision, which is why they eventually had to cut a lot of stuff and split the whole story in half, all of which would explain the pacing issues, and it probably harmed the plot too.
6:11 It’s not even just that, but the fact that they made Peter Parker act completely fine with keeping this stupid canon rule was borderline insulting. Like, what? Peter would never allow that to stay that way.
Because Peter experienced first-hand the supposed consequences of disrupting canon events. He was there with Miguel when his alternate universe completely collapsed.
Dude Peter WAS THERE. Several spider people were there and witnessed what appeared to be a broken canon and the universe falling apart and then when Miles broke the canon in Mumbattan, the universe started to fall apart again. There's evidence for and against the idea of canon events in this movie that's why audiences have found the movie compelling
I was thinking throughout the entire movie "there's literally no one that can do what she does and isn't pregnant across the entire multiverse? Or perhaps spider-man 2099 is just enough of a jerk so as not to give maternity leave."
FINALLY!!! Someone who has a mind of their own there is ONE thing that makes this film tolerable is spot. Even then he is barely in it obviously waiting for the next movie but Yk. 6/10 movie it’s just when marvel brains hear deep meaningful music they instantly like it😫
The thing that irritates me so much about Across The Spider-Verse is the extremely low effort writing of every character. Every line in the film can be categorized into two lines, either smug remarks or a reactionary statements stating what just happenend in the scene, compounded with this is the lack of time given to each scene to allow any sort of weight or suspense to be built. Watching it felt like a horrible spider infused fever dream but not in a cool artsy way but in an incoherent mess of conflicting ideas and concepts way.
So we're just gonna ignore the meeting with Migeul and Gwen's reunion with her father? Plenty of weight and suspense there, or are we just ignoring those. Not even gonna mention the ending, that's more suspense than the entire ITSV movie (I preferred ITSV btw).
It was awful. Visually great. Story makes no sense. Even as a superhero story, some things went too far to be taken seriously. The big climax when Miles managed to get all the Spider-men to chase him, all to leave the dimension weaver open for him to escape home - why did he have to give that away to Miguel? There was only one place in that whole dimension that Miles would likely run to, and he had to tip Spider-man 2099 off (Miguel has comms with all the other Spider-man and could immediately rush back and wall off the dimension weaver from Miles). It went from a moderately smart move to a dumb plan once he gave it away that he was leading them away from somewhere.
Because he was more focus on catching miles and underestimating him, like said he was a anomaly and a kid that didn’t know what he doing, and by the time he catches up to miles he loses his cool and goes on a breakdown on how miles the reason all of this happened and why Miguel feel he is only trying fox thing and that miles doesnt belong here, by time he told by miles his plan, he distracted as mike uses his venom blast on him and damaging his suit by it
@@davidpalillero29 Yes, he damaged his suit. He distracted Miguel. But I mean is Miles much faster than the other Spider-men? Not really. If he can jump off the train and float away, is he really the only one that can do so? If he is not the only one who can fly fast, then why reduce his head start by telling Miguel he was leading them away from somewhere? Miguel's suit was damaged but he can still talk. Can't he instruct the other Spider-men to leap off the train too? Or was the train going so fast that in the minute he took to figure out where Miles was going, Miles already had the time he needed to use the dimension weaver? I agree that the train may already make it hard for Miguel and the Spider-men to catch up with Miles. But... the smart move would be to keep them in the dark as long as possible so that he can have as much time as needed to figure out the controls of the weaver and get the process done.
@@eddyteddy5138 How so? A hero giving away his advantage when he desperately needed it to save his Dad doesn't sound smart. If Superman desperately needed to save Lois, but told Lex Luthor something and therefore gave away his advantage, that would be a slip up. Same thing for Miles. The movie presenting that as a "gotcha" moment seems to me so ironic. I only watched it once, but from what I recall it's more of a self-sabotage moment. If he had faked his death instead, that would have given him all the head start he needed.
Finally thank god I see people say that this is better then the dark knight and I’m so tired of people defending this movie so much like it’s not the best movie of all time also it was so long and it didn’t need to it was like they wanted to make it the longest animated movie so they just stretched the first hour and a half it didn’t need to really have a part two or at least just make it so it’s its own movie I can’t stand Gwen the spot was cool but was kinda goofy and the ending kept feeling like it was going to end it’s annoying with the cameos and it makes people like spectacular spider man and gwen and basically everyone look like they don’t care about others and the only parts I really liked was spider man 2099 (just the voice acting and suit) and the animation.
Spot is literally a joke villain ofc he is goofy. Are you really man because the movie is long?Dude it is a movie ofc it is going to be atleast an hour or two and also marvel and dc movies are known for being extremely long.Endgame, infinity war and lets not forget zack snyder for having a 4 hour justice league movie.Gwen was cool and didnt really have anything wrong with her in the movie.Ok your last part really doesnt make sense. wdym that the cameos makes it look like they dont care about others?
The Spiderverse is killing the character of Spiderman just like it did in the comics. Having multiple Spidermen takes away from the characters uniqueness and impact on the story. Peter is less special now that Miles, Gwen, Ben, etc all have his powers. "If everyone is a superhero, no one will be"

What are you fricking talking about, the trailer doesn't give out any sort of information on the path the movie is heading towards. There were so many turns and twists in the movie, and it was truly amazing!
@@eddyteddy5138 Wtf man? Did you even watch the trailer? These are the main things they put on the trailer: _The Spot as main villian with multiverse powers _Miguel O'hara against Miles _Miles has to decide between saving the life of someone or keep the multiverse safe (obviously, his father, they even put a scene with his father falling from a roof) _The whole spiderverse against Miles _They even spoil the JOKES, the fucking jokes. And that is LITERALLY the whole fucking movie summarized. The only thing they didn't spoil was that theres's a shitty evil Miles at the end with like one minute of screen time
I definitely really enjoyed this film a lot in the theatre. But people all over the internet are genuinely gassing it up. People think this movie is better than all the DC animated films and shows. Better than every single marvel animated series. It's just so hyperbolic. To me I would not give across the spider-verse any rating of any kind. Not until the second part comes out. It's literally an unfinished story. So much could still go wrong. Also I still like the first movie more. Spending time world building in one universe is more meaningful that just jumping around meeting random ass spider people that only have 5 seconds of screen time each. I much prefer the simple team of the first movie mostly in ONE environment. Again I really dug the movie but people are having recency bias. I think this review video is good but it's missing the acknowledgement that the reason we get such a pointless scenes is to show off the visuals. That's the explanations for why a lot of scenes happen. Because they are just showing off the art. This movie is like an extended tech demo that just over stayed it's welcome a bit. Another aspect is how this movie was like Mandalorian season 2. It is a vehicle for spin offs.
really don't understand how people keep saying they're bored in the first half when what makes a GREAT superhero film is the fact that it focuses on the character. So many people hold the sam raimi films in high regard but keep bringing up this point and I just don't get it. lol
I hated the Raimi movies and hate this one as well. The thing is for me they didn't focus on characters. The whole plot with Gwen and her fahter didn't matter at all in the movie, so why show me. Rather show me the Peter Parker Sequenz and leave her dad out. Or show me her hanging out with Miles doing little jobs and she becomes more and more weird because she keeps the Spider Society from him. Its just not well done and also not deep enough. I felt nothing during this movie. In the first one i was emotionaly drained. I mean no hate. For everyone their own, just to explain it a little.
@@isaaclloyd4091 "The whole plot with Gwen and her fahter didn't matter at all in the movie, so why show me" It literally did matter. The fuck? That was Gwen's entire arc in the film, did you even pay attention? Terrible media literacy. They focused a lot on characters.
@isaaclloyd4091 "they didn't focus on characters" "The whole plot with gwen and her father didn't matter at all in the movie" HUH??? Her story with her father was important when it comes to canon events as WELL as her character development. The movie is already 2 hours long and they spent time on Gwen and Miles which were the important characters for this movie.
@isaaclloyd4091 also she literally hung out with miles and was crime fighting with him in the city. She even got "weird" with the spiderverse stuff like you asked... Did you sleep during the movie lmao. There is no way that's a big criticism of yours when it's literally in the movie lmfao.
The fact that miles “beats” all the other spider people is just ridiculous, even ps4 version would’ve been enough to stop him 😂 also their personalities are waaay off like why make them so damn goofy. 🤦🏻
@@szutkowy4923It's funny you assume I'm 11, I think you should take a look at yourself from time to time. I mean what in the world of sucker fish is that pfp?
Ah, someone who is a bit more of a critical thinker reviewing this film. Nice! This video, you would also expect to be a mindless, attention-seeking and maybe disrespectful rant but it wasn't. Great and refreshing review. You have expressed similar sentiments as me tbh.
Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness Spider-Man No Way Home Across the Spider-verse The Flash When making a movie with the concept of the multiverse or time travel it’s bound to be quite messy.
This movie was a big upset. The “twist ending” can be seen from Miles away. (Pun intended) it was very boring until the climax but then he goes into universe 41 and it goes back to boring…. And then we wait forever for Gwen to figure out he’s in the other world….
@@meta-j5020 your comment makes no sense with what I said…. I said you could see the end coming so it was boring. Has nothing to do with being patient… I assure you I patiently watched the movie. I was in no rush to stop watching the movie…
This would have been better if they just turned it into an animated series. Movie set it up perfectly, now let’s break it up into episodes and watch different Spider-Men integrate with miles.
This movie was so disappointing people talkin “best animated film” like mann i need to see this then that shit was a waste of what felt like 5 hours and just when i felt the movie was somewhat starting they have the audacity to say to be continued shit movie way to overhyped
I haven’t seen the movie but your rant was far more entertaining and clearly thought out. I’m tired of people saying you can’t judge a product until you see/use it (which is stupid if applied to hard drugs or suicidal risks): no, garbage is garbage and is not worth watching or even talking about.
@@meta-j5020 talking because I have an opinion that shouldn’t be discarded because I didn’t subject myself to eye/ear torture that someone else subjectively likes (and not based off objective reasoning). If I’m gonna waste time with a movie it better be done well. I’d rather rewatch timeless classics than modern garbage that will be forgotten in time. That’s why Hollywood is so focused on destroying old brands instead of leaving them be to make their own projects (because their last brain cell knows nostalgia sells but they have nothing else). Short answer: because I wanted to, same as all my comments.
@@meta-j5020 if I have no interest then I won’t care and won’t have an opinion on it, same as everyone else (whether it’s based on subjective or objective observations). If I do care about it (in this case Spider-Man) then I have an opinion on it because I do research based off of multiple people who have seen it. Anomaly inc and the person who made the video don’t rant on and on about it being bad or why they hate it (like prequel haters did as if they couldn’t understand the plot meant for +12 year olds) but they focused on how the story is structured and how it relates to the characters within (which in many recent cases such as this film or the Star Wars sequels is a confused inconsistent mess). I get there will always be people who say you can’t have an opinion on something you don’t see or try, but I’m not wasting time on garbage when the people covering its flaws are far more entertaining (and if they cover good films they usually point out things or fun facts I never would have heard of on my own. Edit: nostalgia sells that’s why there are constantly sequels and remakes to classic franchises instead of creative projects. What’s strange is the sheer hostility the creators feel to the fans that have supported them for decades (studio to actors). You’d think they’d ask them what they liked and advice on how to improve but in 2023 it seems they’re determined to chase away everyone who doesn’t agree with them 100% every time no matter how crazy their ideas (or politics) are Even I wrote a prequel to the Thing (1982) because of how the studio interfered with the 2011 failed prequel/remake but even if I was presented with an opportunity to show it I probably wouldn’t because I doubt hardly anyone (even the cult following it grew since it’s release) would want to see it
You know it’s an average movie when you have no desire to watch it again, I saw this in the cinema ON MY OWN, hyped and with popcorn. Very disappointed in the storytelling.
While I do still love the movie and I kinda disagree with the whole "Spot being angry with Spider-Man because he inadvertently transformed him" being stupid, since It's implied to be intentionally crazy for him to think that due to his mental state, and I believe the ludicracy of the canon events was meant to be intentional aswell as a part of opposing Miguel's beliefs, and that the fact that many Spiders join with Miguel could easily be explained away with how the Spider-verse can create different Spider-People with varying ideals and moralities, you still made plenty of good points and I agree that this movie has it's flaws.
So you criticize cameos and characters like Spider Punk and Spider Man India for not being relevant to the plot but praise the Prowler cameo who did not contribute anything to the plot?
I definitely realized after reading the manga Homunculus and Berserk that the authors often get better dialogues than battles and important moments. I will not forgive people who call the Spot a good and brilliant villain, and the chase scene is good and excellent. Well, the canonical events, the main character and the damn parents finish me off!
@@CatVideoEr All thanks to anime edith, I learned about the Killer Ichi and Homunculus... Only thanks to the seemingly useless video I realized that I had to read more
If you have seen better material like beserk or umineko ect, it's kind of just boring. It feels very unoriginal, ands writing is including almost every joke is over played. I though the action and animation where great, but over all the film was just mid. I think why poeple put it in so high regard is because there are no good movies that have come out in while. And this was good, but not amazing.
The movie speedrunned Gwen's backstory and basically reused Miles' dynamic with his cop father and people are for some reason wowed by her as a character? I really don't get the hype with this one and I really liked the first one as well. Glad to see I ain't the only one
reading these types of comments are hilarious because you get people saying gwen's backstory was rushed with others saying that it was dragged out and "miles' dynamic with his cop father" is not reused with gwen, their dynamics are very different with miles and jefferson: jeff initially views spiderman (miles) as an enemy and wants to take him down, but he eventually starts to cheer miles on in his fight with kingpin because he realizes he's fighting for a good cause. their relationship in ATSV is treated as coworkers with an age gap and thus different life experiences, clearly displayed in their conversation after the fight with the spot. Boom character/relationship growth and then with gwen and george: george initially views spider-gwen as an enemy, and up until the very end of the film he still views her as an enemy, and while she has saved his life before, george feels a duty as a police officer to take her down, even after she reveals her identity to him to avoid her arrest no matter how you look at it both of their situations are entirely different. jeff accepts spiderman as a "coworker" after watching him fight and almost lose, but eventually getting back up, while george accepts gwen as his daughter
@@bulliam Gwen's flashbacks were kind of simultaneously rushed and dragged. They rushed the emotional parts but dragged unnecessary information we already knew. When her Peter died, I genuinely busted out laughing, the dialogue was so corny and bad. Obviously it's not the EXACT SAME DYNAMIC, wow congratulations, the point is that it's simply lame to see a spider person having some sort of conflict woth their cop dad TWICE while one of those stories is much weaker than the other
I liked the comparison you gave from Infinity War to Across the Spider-verse. Infinity war never made us question if the hero's would win or lose because we didn't know if there was a sequel, but ACTSV made it very clear that this was a 1/2 story. This destroys the feeling you hav. when going to the theater, and it raises your expectations so high. I think thats why a lot of the audience hated the ending
Idk what you’re talking about, we knew that avengers endgame was gonna happen. It was called avengers infinity war part 2 at the time. So there were the exact same stakes in infinity war.
Dude, the movie is the embodiment of "Exposition, exposition." Too much introduction and too much fanservice. Into The Spider-verse AT LEAST make the introduction quick and I didn't realize how monotonous it was until they lengthen the duration in the sequel. They didn't need to shove the story up our ahh. We, the audience, ain't dumb. Imply the backstory, and we'll put two-and-two together. The ditch everything for the sake of clarity. Miles growth as a person is also trivial. Like... the first one is about him accepting his fate to be spiderman. To have a responsibility. The sequel is literally a washed down version of the prequel. But more boring. I don't get any sense of growth in the sequel. What? Being rebellious is good? But even his parents started to accept Miles' decision to go to university far away from home, so what's with the rebellion? Gwen's dad also quit from his job, no more problem! 2099 / Miguel was written as straight up annoying and unreasonable. Miguel has solid points, yet he was written as annoying. I don't read 2099 comics, but idk if that is a good way to write a hot-headed / disciplined person. Miles IS annoying TOO with his reluctancy, inaction, and MUTISM. Miles refuses to speak, and Miguel refuses to listen. Perfect (-ly bad).
@@davidpalillero29 the comparison would be marvel's Endgame While it was divided into 2 parts, it has resolves on each part. Across the Spiderverse pt 1? Damn, feels like a fan service than a movie. Introducing spider this, and that, and the other, which ends up wasting away story about miles and gwen. They even slipped the background of Hobbs' Spiderman just for him to bounce in the heat of the moment. Spiderman india? Yes tell me more, I don't care! The writer doesn't even try to make him exist with memorable personality. Oh gwen, she even got his concern solved in the end, so there's no more interesting MacGuffin. Miles? Just an asshat who refused to elaborate, just like Miguel who refused to reason. Miguel is simply written as annoying rather than an idealist.
@@BrandontheAwesome like you need to find that balance, like maybe add some small changes that might make something stand out, but for the most part you need to stay faithful. I just look at the flash movie at bombs, because of how much a disrespected the original source material
