Mr Nightmare got me through my shifts while working security. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to do that in a dark empty building at night but it created atmosphere.
Used to have a toy walkie talkie shaped like a ninja turtle as a kid; it would randomly connect to baby monitors if you held it a certain way, so I'd be playing one second, listening to crying babies the next... Shit was creepy, took me a while to even realize what was happening, being a kid and all.
This made me remember the times my brother and I would play with his walkie talkie and we could talk to other people in range? We tried random frequencies and sometimes got a response.
The old lady in the ring doorbell footage likely had a form of Dementia, which is both sad and terrifying. With both Dementia and Alzheimer's, a phenomenon known as 'sundowning' can occur where the afflicted elderly becomes more confused, and potentially aggressive during the late afternoon and night.
My grandfather who suffered from Dementia would grab a knife at night and hide because he thought we were strangers invading his house. We had to lock up all the knives. It’s sad
My grandmother has dementia too and its genuinely scary and sad. She would repeat herself, forget relatives name, her own, say weird out of pocket nothings, etc. I remember at like 10 or 11 she would mix up my name with my uncles for some reason which seemed to be foreshadowing for the future. One of the worst ways to go out.
I've been following Mr. Nightmare since he pretty much started. He makes such amazing content and does all the research in regards to each story. Sometimes he includes fellow fan's experiences in his stories! I'm so glad he's getting the attention he deserves!
Charlie's story about his mom 'hitting a kid' reminds me My mother apparently once got a call where someone claimed that they'd kidnapped me and demanded a ransom or "they'd cut off (my) finger and send it to her", there was a girl screaming in the background and everything She told them "send me the finger" and hung up.
I agree, but the ridiculous 3am shit that will never actually happen in real life (I hope) is too entertaining man coupled in with the porn acting that those videos have. Gold.
I have been watching Mr Nightmare for a while, I have to say he is definitely one of the best when it comes to this content. His videos can range from creepy, disturbing, outright terrifying, and even disheartening at times. I always enjoy watching his videos at 3am.
He really fell off. I remember listening to him back in skool and I just now revisited him and all those awesome videos were taken down from what I remember and it’s all censored shit
The amount of source material and inspiration you are able to have when writing a horror story is overwhelming, which makes it even more unfathomable how few are actually frightening
i really liked your comment and went to see the replies because i was looking forward to reading discussions about what you said. its just a botfest down here :
I used to watch content like this as a kid all the time. It took 2 weeks for me to start getting any sleep after consistently listening to people like Mr. Nightmare tell me about (Allegedly) true scary stories.
I’ve been watching him since early 2014. Honestly, with the Twitch react meta still in swing, I’m surprised no one has watched more scary true story videos.
naw man, that old lady....my mum said that when my grandma was going through dementia, she woke up one night with my grandma standing next to her bed holding a knife, and she didn't know where she was or who she was, or who my mum was. It's actually really really sad. That lady probably is all alone. My mum had to take my grandma to a senior citizens home after that, because she was worried something worse would happen. Losing your mind is no joke. It's not a horror story. It's what happens to millions of aging people all over the world every day.
Holy shit my mom had a similar experience, except it wasn't dementia but a psychosis for my grandma after my grandpa died of cancer. Not only did my mom have to deal with the loss of her father as a teenager, but also with her own mother straight up going psychotic like this. Terrifying, honestly.
@@Shaqiliciouss that’s awful :( both to you and the original commenter.. I hope both of your moms are doing ok / were unharmed, it’s a scary thing for everyone-especially the person themself. I hope people grasp the sensitivity and how deep this stuff is more, especially psychosis. I cant imagine going through such a terrifying miserable mental illness and have people antagonize you because of the stigma around stuff like psychosis and schizophrenia. Freaky stuff
I'd still call the police if I didn't know where she belonged. Hopefully the family has already reported her missing and they could bring her back home.
I first started watching Mr Nightmare around Halloween maybe 3 or 4 years ago. His vibe just hooked me. His voice gives comfort as he narrates these stories, but just enough to keep you feeling the chills, still
Gotta watch is at 2 am, blinds up in the living room so people can stare at you when you're watching and with all the doors in the house open with no lights on and full brightness on screen
so happy to see Mr. Nightmare getting more coverage. it's really funny because if you check out the comments, it's all wholesome. just people being like "dude, this guy is the best, he posts real often and makes my day when he posts"
The security camera section is actually really terrifying. Just imagine setting up a camera thinking it would help your family just so that some freaky degenerate person having access to it and stalk your family.
I don't know how a camera like this could help u with anything 😅 cams for outside sure, but inside? Why? The risk of a hacker is way more likely than the possibility of a benefit from that
@@Ray25689 I presume it’s to check on your child while you’re away or in case someone robbed your home you could check the footage and find out what hapoened
2:50 This actually happened to my dad earlier this year- got a call that I had hit someones car and it was now a kidnapping thing and he wasnt allowed to call anyone or else they'd kill me and to wire them money. Only reason he knew it wasnt real was because I happened to call him at the right moment and he misunderstood them saying "dont pick it up" to "pick it up". Scammers like those are disgusting.
I just hang up the instant something sounds fishy. I'm surprised your dad stayed on the phone past the first couple of sentences. The odds of a grown adult getting kidnapped in broad daylight at a gas station or whatever other nonsense they try and pull.....while not entirely uncommon, maybe even more common that we might think is still highly unlikely.
@@airraverstaz It's not that unlikely if MC is a female. Now why would they ask for money when they can just sell them to prostitution rings, I have no idea. The reason for abduction though doesn't make much sense, as typically insurance would cover the bill in an auto accident.
Mr nightmare hits me with nostalgia. My first memories of using youtube was listening to mr nightmare's spooky stories because I loved being scared. Its crazy to hear that name after so long.
There’s a lot of range in Mr. nightmare stories as well. The most tame being an odd sound that ended up not being anything, the worst being actual murders and mutilation
Mr. Nightmare’s voice is so calm that it adds to the eeriness of his stories, I could listen to it for hours. His format of themed horror stories is in a single story is also refreshing compared to someone like Nuke’s top 5, which mostly seem fake. Nice to see Nightmare getting recognition from Charlie
Mr. Nightmare is awesome. His stories are short, but that adds to the legitimacy of them and most are related to very down-to-earth and highly likely scenarios happening to unfortunate people. Definitely a diamond in the rough. Oh, and don't get me started on how he uses his actual voice to narrate.
8:50 I’ve seen this footage before, that’s a woman with dementia who escaped hospice care or something. That’s why she’s acting so confused and scared, because she is. I really wish this clip would stop circulating.
I can just imagine Charlie going around licking doorbells and then looking straight at the camera and saying, "alright that's it guys... see ya" and running away.
Been watching/listening to Mr. Nightmare’s vids for over 5 years and the amount of effort and work he puts in his videos really shows. I’m glad you gave him a go
yup. the guy who reuploads his own videos 4 times over lmao very hard working guy, tons of effort, yessir, thats Mr. Nightmare. bro if youve seriously watched him this long, youd know about the drama surrounding his reuploads lmfao cmon now
me too, him and Corpse Husband's old narrations. i found Nightmare about six years ago with a Craigslist video, then found Corpse with a collab they did for Halloween. the stories are so sick, I'm so glad when i see other fans
@@gorebutt it’s not bad when you leave tho bc you get to come back to a bunch of videos. You should also check out Lazy Masquerade if you like horror stories
ayyyy mrightmare is awesome and he's been doing this for so many years! so glad u checked out his stuff, i don't really watch horror often but i'd binge mrnightmare's videos while drawing cus they're so realistic it gives it a slight creepy edge
@@DazToke because a Chanel with 10 mill subs shouting out a VERY well known channel with 6 mill subs who which probably a lot of mans already know both youtubers , if anything nuke needed the exposure he’s at like 3 mill
Spying on a kid or actually spying one someone young or old must be some of the most disgusting and disrespectful things you can ever do This is a bone chilling video..especially the last one where this woman with a knife is standing outside someone's house in midnight
@@SylverScourge One of them is absolutely fucking horrid.. Saying it's okay for animals to be beaten.. I doubt it's a bot, it's probably just a really fucked up person
I know Im late, but I just gotta say, Mr.Nightmare is sick. Been watching him for years now, and I mean years. Back when Corpse was making horror story videos. Respect that man a lot. Glad someone pointed Charlie to him. Man deserves the minor shout out. Edit: I'm sure Charlie knows by now, but Mr.Nightmare tells stories he receives from viewers or I believe Reddit. He also use to tell his own as bonuses. He has told paranormal stories or ones where the people were skeptics/ believed.
Glad to see Mr. Nightmare getting some more recognition, his content is so well put together and so unsettling in all the right ways. It’s definitely more scary than any paranormal video, because they feel real, even if some of the stories might not be (though I think most of them probably did actually happen). Those kind of scenarios could very well happen to any of us, and that’s what makes it all the more terrifying.
Repent to Jesus Christ “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” 1 Peter 5:10 NIV K
They all sound like they're written by the same person so I think if they're not all fake then he at least modifies real ones that fans send him. Especially because how many emails of fully written stories do you actually think he gets to make up the amount he has on his channel.
As an experienced hacker, I can confirm that getting into ring cameras (and all cameras for that matter) are incredibly easy to get in to if you don’t change your password. The factory set password that the camera company’s give you is called a hash. A hash is what you usually see when you get a password for a website (the ones that look like this-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and have a set amount of numbers, letters, and symbols they can use. I have coded (in the past when I cared about hacking) a “hash detector” which essentially attempts every single possible hash on the website. Just wanted to say that’s how I got famous in middle school
Mr. Nightmare is legit & I love his videos especially the craigslist horror stories ones, everything is weird on craigslist, been watching him for like 7 years, love his voice its perfect for telling stories, so calming & chill.
recently started watching Lets Read over Mr Nightmare , his stories are much much longer and have better plots , Mr Nightmare are just listen to for thr theatrics at this point , been watching him since 2018 , gets a lil predictable where every time something creepy happens and then its all alright in the end
Mr Nightmare has been a favorite of mine for YEARS and I'm glad Charlie finally dipped into his content. Though not all his stories may sound ENTIRELY believable, he certainly sells it. He doesnt necessarily do "ghosty" content, but more realistic like people living in your walls. That's good horror shit.
I started watching mr nightmare since his Craigslist stories , he’s been there day in and day out and I’m happy to continue on watching mr nightmare again.
I can't believe Charlie didn't know about Mr. Nightmare, that guy was my childhood I remember watching his videos so much back in 2016-18. I sort of stopped watching them afterwards but as a kid I liked to get scared and everything and I used to watch all of them thinking that all of them are real and it was fun. I think it was the way he narrates his story and his voice that makes his videos better/stand out for me. Edit: I was 13 in 2016, I generalised it as my childhood. Calm down everyone.
@@gojijynx yeah it probably does, although I should mention that I wasn't that young at the time, I just generalized it as my childhood instead of saying my teenage years, I was 13 in 2016 so just entered my teen years.
As a person who worked tech support for 7 years... here's the answer as to HOW: Most ISP modems/routers have a lot of ports blocked. Many modems have firmwares that don't allow many of these ports to be forwarded. The only answer for a lot of people is to enable the DMZ and have security cameras configured to it. Which means no firewall, no security. Completely open traffic sniffable by anybody who knows your IP address. Doesn't even have to be local on the same network. Just need an IP address. Edit: I can't stress enough that Charlie is extremely wrong at the end. Ring doorbells are extreme security risks, even if you don't have to DMZ it. Their security is garbage. They broadcast unencrypted on 2.4 Ghz... extremely easy for local breaches. Spend the extra bucks and drill a couple holes, get an ethernet-cam system. You can still watch it remotely, but at least then it's properly secured by your network. Edit 2: I know Mr. Nightmare is mostly or all fake. But the sites where you could watch cams absolutely did exist, and direct breaches happen every day.
as someone who is not tech savvy at all any specific brand or product you recommend for a security doorbell/camera? my house is old fashioned so we have no security besides ADT.
Who in the world would spend their time breaching someone's doorbell or network? It sounds like an absolute waste of talent, where instead they could use in the military, army, or navy.
im glad more people are discovering mr nightmare he really does deserve the attention since he really is so commited to what he does and so engaged with his fans
I remember in middle school when we were done with work in our computer class we'd literally look up the website where you could just watch cameras and just go through them, nothing ever happened but you could absolutely see people in their homes and that's just terrifying
I love Mr. Nightmare because he tells stories that have a chance of being real. I don't necessarily believe in ghost, but I do still enjoy the youtube creepy pasta type channels.
@@myballshurt832 Stalkers are the scariest thing to me, like, the anxiety and anticipation of something potentially maybe happening anytime now is scarier than just being attacked to me. Being on edge fuckin sucks.
@@JoeyisDREADful exactly. The amount of realism and effort mr nightmare puts in his videos is enough to keep you up at night, and even if you're scared you still watch his videos cuz its entertaining. Especially if its raining at night
I remember that webcam security "flaw" It was all over 4chan back then, with lists of hundreds of unsecured cameras, you wouldnt believe where people put them, it was 2011 and they were just filming their couch mostly or their kids. It wasn't just one webcam company though, it was several, it was lists of cams where the password wasn't changed so the default was either "admin" or in the manual on the manufacturer website.
i remember being a huge fan of mr nightmare and especially hyped when he used to make collab with llama arts when he animated his narrations, those were the good days and i'm glad to see he's still doing well on youtube
I’ve been watching Mr. Nightmare for at least 5 years, and he’s always been the pioneer for good horror content on RU-vid, he genuinely tries to make every video seem grounded in reality as possible, and honestly most of them probably are. He’s a gem left from a bygone era of RU-vid for sure
My favorite horror story channel is literally just named "Horror Stories" he uploads videos about horrific and freak incidents, murders, kidnappings, etc, and he includes either actual (often uncensored) footage or images. what's scary about it are the images though, just the thought of what will happen moments later creeps me tf out. either its a photo of moments before, or a photo of a victim smiling, or a photo of the victim and its killer together in one photo. i binged watched it a years ago and i couldnt sleep properly. sadly tho, bc of his content, he often gets demonitized and shit and he doesnt upload often.
Mr. Nightmare is the real deal in the horror community. Consistent uploads, proper effort in creating atmosphere, some jumpscares that do take you by surprise instead of just making a loud noise at every turn. I stopped listening to other creators because this guy keeps giving us the goods.
I'm glad to see that Charlie likes Mr Nightmare. It's a goated channel in my opinion, whether the stories are real or not. Also, an honorable mention would be Mr Ballen who's also a good storyteller.
I would love for charlie to watch some of "Horror stories" It's more straight to the point without the sound effects and creepy music, it's straight real horror, the grueling reality that a person could just die without anyone knowing king of vibe. But i don't think charlie would watch something like that on stream.
"Chad ThunderCock." Had me rolling. "Thats a big boy." Not sure if any of it was scary or creepy, but Charlie sure is hilarious about it. Was fun to watch. Great video
I love Mr Nightmare a lot especially the crawlspace stories and It is sad seeing his videos slowly not getting millions of views. It it is also really cool to see that Charlie knows him too now better.
His channel still gets a pretty high view count. The one on here with the ring cam got close to 4 million. Mr. Nightmare is still my favorite horror type channel.
I've been watching Mr. Nightmare for years; his videos were the only one's that were interesting to me in the horror genre because his stories actually had a degree of credibility, and he never oversells them either. In years past he was more interactive with his community and had also made a couple Q&A videos and disclosed that he is not actually a person inclined towards belief in the paranormal, but simply makes these videos because the stories are interesting and hard to explain nonetheless.
7:06 I remember this!! That website is actually still up, but it's mostly or exclusively showing businesses. I went on that website once and alerted a father that his webcam wasn't secure. I felt so bad, he was so scared but I walked him through how to make it safer.
Ok, it's official! I can NOT watch you while I am eating or drinking anything. Twice you almost chocked me to death. "OMG, he's in the mainframe" and when you were describing that lady at the door. I nearly lost it both times. BTW, you better hope that she does not see this video during a lucid moment! She might be on YOUR doorstep next! LoL. I'm subscribing... Ur refreshingly awesome.
I had a new job where I was basically security/secretary. Id often open the business in the morning and was the first one there. Some dude called me once and he told me a bunch of numbers (i still dont know why but i wrote them down and was gonna ask my manager when she came in if they meant anything) and then told me he had my manager on the other line and if i didnt give a bunch of info on the business that she would fire me. I told him if he had my manager on the phone he can just ask her cuz she knows more than me. I could hear the realization through the phone call of how stupid his plan was.
i remember getting the flu in middle school and feeling like crap, laying in bed watching some silly chuck e. cheese creepy pasta by him. I was so scared looking under my bed and out the window. I just wish I could be as scared of ghosts and fucking chuck e. cheese and stupid stuff as I was then. Fear is addictive, and as a child you can be genuinely scared of stupid stuff but realistically know it can’t happen. But now what it takes to scare me is like home invasion or getting mugged, which are just too real. I just wanna be able to be scared again without being terrified. vent over ig
Mr.Nightmare is legendary always listen to his videos on road trips and camping trips with my family, always in school, and my mom sleeps to his videos. another good one is UNIT 552 and if u like fictional stuff Mr.Creeps is amazing.
I agree. He's really talented at story telling. Plus he wears flannel so he's easy to give a shot about, well mainly cuz I'm Canadian so flannel is normal for me to see.
I know it isn't very much like the creepy camera person talking to the kid but it sort of reminded me of that super insanely creepy scene in saw where zepp is in gorden's daughter's closet and whispers "goodnight little girl" while creepily staring at her through the slightly opened door.
