@@FrankieJ1981 Only Tein Flex and above models are made in Japan. They are not bad coilover. BC just provides a just better all around package comparing to our Tein Flex.

You can turn (by hand) the whole shaft once you break loose the locking nut to the coilover

Since this car was completely restored about 2 years ago, things do look much cleaner than most. Yet we do not drive this vehicle in the rain only with hood sunny weather. But 500 miles a year might not be far away 😄

Strange to see Mugen wheels and BC coilovers. I hear Ohlins is discontinued and Spoon is very stiff on the street. I found the Tein Monosport unbearable on local bumpy back roads. I switched to Spoon progressive springs and matching Spoon shocks. No height adjustment but I like the balance for street and track use. I respect that CT engineering icebox! I run the same one.

Our Tein Flex was always a bit too soft to our liking. Ohlins and Spoon can get comfortable due to the damper design and high spring rates. It really opened my eyes when I found how well the prototype BC Coilovers behave on our 2021 TLX. Made us really look into their completely new lineup of products. For just about half of the price of KW V3, I think it’s a phenomenal value. BC x Mugen wheels might just be the new trend 😃

KW does make a lot of sense since Ohlins is discontinued.

Tein Flex was too soft for us. BC was much better for all around and provide more of a completed package for just at $1k price point. KW V3 will run about $1900 and doesn’t come with the top head.

Hi Mike, let us know how the BC compare to the Tein Flex, no sound after your installation :( . I am using Tein Flex Z on my EK4 now, thinking to change them out too. The Tein Flex Z coilover just don't feel right.

Allegedly Tein and other jdm manufacturers take into account the smooth and long curvature of Japanese roads. While usdm coilovers tend to work better with potholes, divets and a harsher road surface in N America.

Our Tein Flex is just a bit too soft to our liking, specially on low speed compression dampening. BC has the best all around package with ride and comfort yet just firm enough to be fun to drive and confident on turns.

@@ahcgarage Thank you guys for your personal opinion. Its very helpful! Thus I decided to roll on Tein Flex Z in the CL7 because I want more of an oem feel for a daily. I mean its an Accord not a racecar. However for the Integra Type R, I decided to go with Koni Yellows and Ground Controls for more of a stiffer weekend/track day feel. 👍❤

No audio at the most important part lol. What were the spring rates and how did the ride quality feel? I'm trying to go like a oem plus ride. Massive 8k front 7k rear (500lb/in front 450 lb/ in rear)

Maybe a air suspension that raises and lowers the truck ride height. Maybe a turbo charger added to increase hp and torque. Underbody skid plate. Hydraulic hood props. Maybe cooler rims and grippier tires.

The internal shock construction is different. Tein Flex is just a bit too soft to our liking. BC has the best all around package at just about the same price point.

I personally own a 95 civic with tein super street with the pillow ball mounts and i own a 06 tsx with tein street advance and I noticed a difference in the quality of the ride and the parts are just a better quality metal too the super street are made in Japan and the street advance made in china …I personally wouldn’t buy another china or Taiwan made product for suspension I wanna stick to USA or Japan made coilovers.im thinking of going with fortune auto for my Dc2 next

Hey AHC, I was trying to find a video on Tein Flex vs BC Racing BR. Well that tourney out well. Too bad the audio kicked off, but I read through the comments and noticed your guys liked the BRs over the Flex’s? Good to know. Also, are the ITR front forks shorter than the 92-95 civic forks? I have the Hardrace RLCA for my HB. Hardrace parts are almost all out of stock. Will be getting the FLCA too.

We had some audio issue toward the end of the video. As for the coilover, we preferred the BC over the Tein Flex on our ITR. Tein overall is a bit too soft and BC offered a much better overall package, especially at low speed compression

The BC box says 5K spring rate in the rear. I know the tein flex is 10k F 7k R. Is the BC softer or firmer in the rear? Also, did you have any issues bottoming out with the Tein Flex? I was initially planning on running those on my integra?

The issue for the Tein Flex is in the front for us. With the right spring Pre-load and dampening setting along with the ride height, it tends to bottom out on certain bumps. Soften the dampening helps yet it soften the rebounds. We spent months of getting it right but isn’t what we looking for. We are not claiming Tein Flex isn’t good, just not what we are looking for and maybe not match well with the DC2 application.

@@ahcgarage I wonder if tein provides firmer front springs to help address this issue, but it seems like it could also be a product of poorly matched dampening for this application. I just got mine in the mail today, but will do a bit more research before installing them. Thanks again for the feedback.

@@ahcgarageCould you test out the Tanabe Revel suspension how that rides? It’s between BC racing or Tanabe Revel. No one has reviews on Tanabe yet maybe you guys can be the first. I’m definitely getting Tanabe exhaust. Where can I get r side skirts and back lip? Shit is getting hard to find. Thank you AHC.

Good that you mentioned Tanabe Revel. Since they are about the same price point and we were super interested to test them out however they do not have ITR DC2 application.

I got a $550 set of Yonakas Spec 2's and they are dope asf, build quality is top notch, can go lower than those BC's, 12k springs up front, 6k in rear, and 28 way adjustable damping (Which is more than enough for street use). So why do you guys spend damn near $1500 on coilovers? Do yall do it just because everyone else is doing it?

Specs on the Coilovers and most parts do not mean much unless it performs. Drive quality and all around performance is what we looking for. BC BR coilover MSRP is just under $1k at $995. The intention of our video is to help our community. We have better things to do than just spending “$1500” because “everyone else is doing it”.

@@ahcgarage The ride quality is awesome, every bit as good as any other coilover, and the performance is great. I have a touge style road in my neighborhood, and that's where i go to test. These Yonaka's performed every bit, as good if not better than the Fortune Auto's my friend has on his car. He drove my car and couldn't believe I paid under $600 shipping included for my coilovers. Needless to say he was one of those guys who purchased his brand because everyone else had them, and literally got robbed for $600. He couldn't even go as low as me, and I had stiffer springs than him. So if a person can literally pay half the price and have coilovers that are just as good if not better than the high priced one's, then how is that helping people? Everyone already know's about BC coilover's, but does everyone know about Yonaka's?

If so, then cool, go get the most overpriced Coilovers you can find, but if you drive the car on the road 98% of the time, and you still choose to spend that much on suspension, then you're an absolute idi0t. 💯 These Yonakas perform and fill great on the road no matter what type of driving you're doing. 12k springs up front, 6k in the rear, adjustable 28 way dampening,, fully threaded, mono tube design. Inner bump stop, 4" drop, and rubber dust shield. Now if your BC's can do all that and has pretty much the same build quality, then why in the f*ck would you spend double the amount just because the next guy did? 😑😑 In your case, "Mama DID raise a f00L." Too many people just follow trends instead of making practical, sensible decisions.
