@Johnsmith98765 There are few watches "better" than Rolex. People are just angry because there is a "game" played to get these watches. If you want to get a Rolex, go to the major dealers (like Watches of Switzerland). They have stock available most days.
I went o a Rolex Store showed interest on the Airking the associate was very nice, I spoke about my passion for watches and told him I have over 32 watches among them 4 are Rolex’s watches, then the conversation started to get interesting, associate asked which models I own and I told him I have a GMT Pepsi, a Batgirl, a Daytona and a Submariner and I showed him the Pepsi on my wrist and also my watch pictures of my watch case and told him that my favorite watch was a Citizen that my father gave to me 20 years ago, he asked which model it was I told him a C300 FAB he said I worked for Citizen for many years and I showed him a picture of the Citizen after that he offered me to try on the Rolex Airking then he said he could put my name on a waiting list, he asked for my Id, as he was taking my information he mentioned, your birthday is coming, I replied yes, I spoke about the watch a little more and left the store, 2 weeks later just 6 days before my birthday I received the call, I picked up the watch and it was a great experience as always.
You actually thought this was a good experience... just picture doing this with any other MASS PRODUCED product, yes Rolexes are mass produced, they make over a million an year.
@TheBattousai2004 when you work hard and get something special is always a great experience. Specially with a timepiece that will be in my family for many years to come.
@@marciobrazuca that's not what I'm talking about, I am talking about the fact you have to go through this song and dance with the ADs just to buy a product, its disgusting and should actually be illegal. For example I own multiple properties, I don't have to show the next agent my collection of properties and give him a story why he should let me buy another property, blah blah blah... if I have the money for it they sell me the damn building. End of story, and its worth a hell of lot more than a Rolex...
@@TheBattousai2004 I understand your point of view, but this is what makes Rolex so desirable even if you have money you can’t just walk into the store and buy it. That’s the strategy of Rolex.
I had a similar experience, haven't gotten my watch yet but I was genuine and seeking the Sprite GMT. I even asked her if I had any chance of getting the watch, if it was even possible, and she told me she could add me to the list. She said she was very interested in developing relationships with clients and that I didn't have to spend hundreds of thousands to be considered. A day later she told me she sent a request to Rolex (I guess that means a request for specific inventory). That's better than nothing, and I assume it means she was serious enough about trying to get me one. Hopefully my experience goes as smoothly as yours did, haha! But I wouldn't be surprised if I have to wait a bit longer than you. Maybe forever, LOL.
F that... I would feel like an idiot if I have to work around a seller with my cash on hand just to get chosen to purchase something. Have some self respect.
This is exactly correct. I have been on the waitlist for a GMT BLNR Jubilee (batgirl) for almost 2-years… I finally got the call yesterday and picked it up. The market is slowing and I don’t think I would have gotten the call if prices were still outrageous. Still super happy
That aint a tip.. Thats how everyone talks to their AD when they first walk in.. It all depends if they want to even want to entertain you depending on the number of people coming in. So yeah, no tips are even going to happen unless you talk to your sales associate with respect.
They must be annoyed by the people saying the birthday reason over and over again. That’s what I did and they looked annoyed as hell. Told me to get on a waitlist to just enter the store. Rolex store are pricks
So rather than putting down hard cash for an item you have to go through a mating ritual to even be considered. Rolex is not the only game in town. There are other brands making great watches and you don't need a wagging tongue and knee pads to buy one. Everyone assumes your Rolex is fake anyhow.
I had to buy a tudor and a cartier first then I got my mint green fluted dj after 12 months. We talked and decided it would be an explorer next then submariner then gmt. It's a journey. Enjoy it.
They’re plentiful. There’s a huge markup on these watches so don’t let AD’s, grey market sellers, and YT content creators mislead you. The market is dead and they’re trying to squeeze everyone they can. Rolex has more watches than they can sell especially the models that didn’t change any from the previous year and won’t change next year. The word is that they had been sourcing components from the Chinese to meet demands. Now the market has died they’re sitting on stacks of stainless Datejust’s, Daytona’s, and Submariner’s. The same is true for the Explorer models and Perpetual’s. When dealers start offering financing you know it’s time to offer below retail. Don’t be embarrassed about it because these are the same people who used straw men to create the gray market and sell watches for double retail.
"Needing to explain why I want that watch. Make a connection to the seller." Basicly, suck up as much as you can to the seller, in the hope that they grand you the chance of buying their products....... Wow!!! One can go to a Cartier or Omega AD and just walk out with the watch on the wrist. No need to jump through hoops.
1. Go to AD 2. “Hello. My name is Archie Luxury. I am a gray market reseller. I’m looking to buy, let’s say… twenty Rolexes if I can get five steel sports models” 3. “Of course sir! Let me open the safe!” 4. Glock 19 5. Run out of the AD with two of the steel watches (one box in each hand) 6. Archie takes the fall when the cops go lookin 😂
Not being a buthole goes along way. Same situation with my new Porsche 992.1 T, 6 to 12 months wait time. First I’ve in the dealership, I was cool with the sales guy not pushy or aggressive as to when I can get one. Got a text a week after, he had an allocation coming in soon, so I want it? F’k yeah! 🎉
They're lying. over 50% of the ADs in my state (as I've been to them all) have straight up said they will only sell allocated watches to loyal customers...loyal being one who spends money with them. the minority that dont outright say it play passive aggressive games and still never call you. F them all
If you have a pulse you can get a Rolex right now. Everyone is broke and therefore there is minimal luxury spending. Dealers would love to sell anyone an overpriced watch who is interested.
I’m not trying to be rude- but if your looking unkept wearing a wrangler shirt, and driving a 15 year old VW, everyone is going to assume it’s a replica anyways.
Good video for absolute beginners.. All the tips you’ve mentioned are obvious as hell 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. 'You didn’t discover America' that’s what we saying here in Poland.
I hate you man- LOL. The Polar is exactly what I’ve wanted for over 2 years at three different ADs. I’ve done all the things you’ve said- but nada! The difference is all of the ADs around me confirmed that spend history was indeed a consideration. So I guess it really depends on where you are and what ADs you are local to. Oh well. Enjoy it!!
Haha I’m sorry to hear that man, it probably depends on the location too, I’d try to avoid big cities that have a ton of high ticket clients. I still haven’t heard a peep from the first dealer I went to. I wish you luck that you’ll get the call soon!
This AD bullshit has gotten out of hand. My Dad walked in a store and bought a Rolex on sale for $275 in the 70’s. He didn’t jump through any of these hoops to prove his “worthiness” for a watch.
This was 50 years ago, Rolex is not a status like never before. Even the smallest child asks if they can buy a Rolex, while standing in the watch section at the department store. Thats why the ADs can do stuff like that.
@@michaelriera6277 Rolex is no different than any other luxury brand. You don't have to build a relationship and jerk off a salesman to buy a Mercedes or any other brand. You people normalizing this crap for a watch (that isn't even rare) like it's justified are just as delusional.
You got lucky made a conmection with the sales person and thats all. Thats not some crazy secret... But whatever.... Obvious you l8ke hearing tourself talk 8s the reason for this video...
Lucky you and happy for you, but this won’t happen in Europe or Asia , to me su…ng d.cks for a watch is ridiculous, people are making to much of this brand, this is just a watch, and there are actually much better brands out there for the watch experts; been doing and trying everything to get one for some time with the official Rolex stores and could never get one, I found my way tp get one without going with these official « museums » as they are there only for exhibition, I will not prostitute myself for a watch…. Hope the market will crash and we’”ll see how they gonna deal with it ? Please our dear Asian friends, stop buying those watches and we’ll see how they do… 😂
