ADCO TIRE COVERS | Product Review | Protects your RV Tires
This week, Marc from RV Love shares this review on Adco Tire cover wheel guards - vinyl covers designed to protect your RV tires against the elements like UV and rain. RV tires are expensive and tend to “age out” rather than wear out, as RVs don’t get driven many miles each year like a regular vehicle does. It’s important to prolong the life of your tires with RV tire covers, especially if your RV spends a lot of time outside or in outdoor storage or if your tires are expensive (as ours are). We see it as a small price to pay for protecting a costly and important investment, being our RV tires. Our safety is riding on them so we are diligent about tire care and maintenance.

Adco Ultra Tyre GuardsTire Covers (Black): amzn.to/2IOJejt
Adco Tire Covers (Beige): amzn.to/2IMaXRG
Adco Double Axle Covers (White): amzn.to/2QJySEp
Features:
- Protect your vehicle's tires, especially when being stored outdoors
- Heavy duty flannel backed vinyl repels liquid and saves tires from the sun's damaging UV rays and other environmental hazards
- Helps prevent premature cracking of sidewalls that can lead to on-road blowouts
- Bungee ball fastening system eliminates loss to wind
- Sizes range depending on tire size - from 27” to 42” plus Oversize
- Set of 2 (available in black, white, beige etc)
What we like about them:
This is our second set of Adco Tyre Covers - we had a beige set for our Tiffin motorhome and now we have a black set for our Country Coach motorhome, that are larger in size. They’ve always done the job and helped protect our RV tires from harmful UV rays. We also found an added benefit in that being covered, it helps keep the RV tire temperature - and therefore tire pressure - more consistent, when we are checking tire pressure in readiness for our drive day. We don’t usually use the bungee ball fastening system as they seem to stay on fairly well with the snug fit, even when windy. Occasionally we find one has blown off but it’s always nearby. Adco has a good reputation and there aren’t a lot of other choices out there, but these do the job well enough. Worth the investment. Tire safety is extremely important and not worth taking the risk on to save a few bucks.

Thanks for posting this video. Just got new tires for our motorhome. Didn't use tire covers before. replaced tires at 9 years old. We've full-timed since 2018. Bought Diplomat from owner/seller in 2016. Will use tire covers from this point forward. Again, many thanks for this excellent information.

Good timing with your review, My tire covers are getting really ragged looking and I need to purchase replacements. I am surprised that you chose black tire covers. The sun infrared hitting black tire covers will efficiently transfer that radiant energy into the tire and cause the problems you discussed in your video. Choosing white would be a better match to your Class A and more efficiently reflect the heat back away from the whole tire area.

Black covers are a killer of tires, bottle covers and tire covers. I know because I had a black one on the spare and it blew up from excessive heat

I am really surprised that you don't have a tire pressure monitor system, I would never drive our DP without one. It has alerted us several times in the past an averted a more serious problem.I always turn it on and check 1 or 2 days before we travel that way if there is an issue I'm not scrambling the day of departure if there is an issue. Love your videos

Hi there, you will be pleased to know that just TODAY we posted the review of our TST Tire Pressure Monitoring System. And yes, agree it is a must have. Our only regret is not installing one sooner. We sincerely believe this should be among the very first purchases for any RVer... tire safety is paramount. And while Marc has always been extremely diligent about tire safety, and we haven't had an issue, the fact remains, things COULD have still gone awry while driving. We are fortunate it did not, But we now have much greater peace of mind driving our RV with the TPMS. By the way, sincere apologies for the delayed reply.

I would go with white over black to keep the heat down. I had a black factory cover for the spare. After a few years, the tread on top actually had sections that peeled up like alligator skin. Switching to a white cover fixed the problem. The temperature difference was significant. Heat is bad for tire life.

Great point. Yes, the white covers do an even better job of keeping the temperatures down. In hindsight, probably would have been even better to have bought white. We like the look of our black ones, but white definitely has the advantage on the heat side.

Agreed that the black looked better. Also, the white starts to yellow some after a couple of years in hot areas. I am in the southwest desert country so it is more of an issue than for folks in cooler more northern climates. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for the 'real life experience' because I have always been told the actual temp difference between colors (including white vs black) is insignificant (20 degrees +/-) so to just go with whatever color you wanted ....

Rocki5pr ..... That may be correct for cooler areas and at a cool time of the year. Try Quartzsite at high noon in July. You can place your open hand on the roof of a white painted car but you can not do that on a black painted car. It would be interesting to measure the temp difference in the summer with a heat gun. I think it will easily be more than 20 degrees during the summer in the southwest. One of the design trends in RVs is to have black accent colors. For example, AC covers and various vent covers are black. I wonder how those are going to look and hold up after a few years. That is especially a concern for hot and sunny parts of the country. It looks like design over function to me.
