I think the look is awesome. Checked out Nytop's page to investigate and was utterly shocked at the $1000USD price of some chunks of 5/8 plate and some slightly bent and painted 3/16 sheet steel. No thanks. Not at that price. I can get an entire powder coated bumper with recovery points for less and it wont be rusted out in a month from rock chips.
Axle dump exhaust, oh I'm excited for that. Your taco is coming together nicely, my TRD OR premium just started production and I'm hoping to have by the end of the month or early May.
Looks killer Mark! 🔥 I too have underground, am wondering if I could just mount the nytop red recovery hooks in the lower stock front bumper? Would they fit? Thanks
i generally like nytop but their fit and finish to price is severely lacking BUT they did do me right me right when I reached out to them. installing the hybrid bumper and hooks for the tundra was a massive pain in the ass because holes just didn't perfectly line up and ended up drilling out nuts in the frame because the hook wasn't perfectly made. the powder coat had blemshes in it. oh and I had to really fight getting the upper plastic on the tundra to sit on top of the hybrid bumper so it sits back all the way. (side note by this time the powdercoat is very scuffed up because you know very heavy bumper that you're fighting it sit in place trying to add spacers and everything) when its all said and done I got it on and it looks great now and can live with the little details that nobody else is going to notice. also if you live in a state where you need a front license plate they didn't give any advice or hardware to remady a plate braket. i drilled holes in the THICK steel plate bumper and some self tapping screws for the factory plastic license braket. the rear hooks were great but my left hook wasn't bent properly so it points inward about a degree or 2. side note tho I was one of the first people to order from them. so wether or not if their QC got any better is beyond me.
Nice looking Taco, wow clean looking. I just purchased my first Tacoma, 2024 SR5 just city truck in Albuquerque. What's the brand of that roof rack, looks great?
Marc the truck looks great I just think the headlights need something more I was wondering is it possible to put the 2025 4 runner headlights in the Tacoma is that possible yes
Hey man, I have the same truck, looking to add a roof rack similar to yours. Which brand is that? Also did you notice a large amount of added wind noise?
24 Tacoma with quality control issues from day 1. Hood scope separated, rear power source inoperative, last Sunday front lower air spoiler separated . Dealer wants $1198 to replace. Dothan Toyota can pack sand!
Truck looks great Mark. Does it seem like you could pop off that NYTOP tag on the bumper without scratching it up too badly? I like the bumper but not a fan of their badge
If you plan on actually using the recovery points as recovery points and not just parking lot decoration, actually torque to spec. Vice grips aren't the tool for the job.
The stock points under the front bumper are transport tie downs. They aren't rated for or should be used for recovery. In reality I know they will be used for recovery but that isn't their purpose.
Owner's manual on page 565 refers to them as emergency towing eyelets. They are not "transport tie downs." It even says you can tow the vehicle using cables or chains for up to 50 miles keeping speed below 18 MPH.
So, you spent nearly 50K on the new Taco, and you have to add recovery points because the factory recovery points are some flimsy things buried half way under the truck? Wow. And what's up with the plastic 'skid plate?' 😂 Are you replacing that too? I saw another reviewer complaining about the faux spare tire. Toyota couldn't put a real spare tire on a truck that will go off road? Wow. I've also read that when you reach your destination, you have to let the engine idle for a minute to let the turbo cool down on that wee 'lil 4-banger. That would get old real fast. And with that big iPad looking thing sticking up from that dash, do you pretend you're driving a Tesla? 😂 Dude, you should have bought a Frontier and saved all the hassle of doing what you're doing.
