Original video description:
Grade 6 ADI Trainer, Claire Wilmot, gives a demonstration of how to give a Part 3 lesson on the Turn in the Road exercise. Traditional instruction is used throughout, which is currently the preferred style for the Part 3 examination. Coaching videos will be made available at a later date for ADI's wishing to provide a more natural, client-centred style of learning.

@1812MK Thanks for your comment! We should encourage our learners to take responsibility for the situation and the potential consequences. That way they develop a fuller understanding of what's safe and what's not. Beckoning is not the safest option, but I do it before Claire has chance to stop me (had she anticipated my action, she would have discussed eye contact, speed/position of vehicle, etc). But if it does happen, it's essential that the dangers are explored fully (which they are).

We don't have them in DVD format at the moment and have no plans to do so for the forseeable future. With the advances in internet technology, broadband speeds and internet-capable TVs, DVDs are sooooo yesterday Carol! :-D Thanks for your Facebook request - I have now accepted you. Sorry I haven't done so beforehand - I'm always a little wary of friend requests from people who I don't know personally or who don't appear to be driving instructors (or in traning) from their profile info :-)

I am sorry for not replying earlier - RU-vid comments appear so frequently that I find it difficult to follow every one up! By now you'll probably be eligible to become an ADI anyway, but for anyone else reading this comment): You need have held a full UK or EA/EEA driving licence for at least four out of the past six years prior to entering the Register after qualifying. But you can start training up to around 4-6 months BEFORE that time as it will take around 4-6 months to qualify.

@pronsyn Glad to hear you had a good experience with your training provider - nobody was passing judgement though, Jonboy was simply commenting on his own experience, which is sadly an all-too-common one (not necessarily from his particular training provider, but from PDIs across the industry). You do have to question though... after paying for a full ADI training course should you really need to seek outside help to help you pass?

Thanks for your compliments on my acting skills! Haha :-) You have to have held a full UK driving licence for 4 years by the time you apply for your ADI licence, but bearing in mind it'll take around 6 months to qualify, now is the perfect time to get started! If you want to chat more about your options, give us a call on 01457 810195.

You both make me chuckle while watching these videos! Really really good stuff. I know you are selling your videos on your website, but do you not have them on DVD form to buy as I would really benefit from these whilst doing my part 3 training. Passed part 2 other day and was delighted! And another thing Ged....... why have you not accepted my facebook friends request?? :O Carol

@billl104 - More will be online shortly, I am just in the process of doing some video editing for 'Phase 2 - Approaching Junctions'. You should receive notification, now that you have subscribed to my channel. Kind regards, Ged.

@Jonboy281284 34% is an overall pass rate - the first time pass rate is unknown, as the DSA do not currently collect that data.

I totally agree Ged, if you are paying fully for an ADI course you should never have to seek any sort of outside help, your provider should have everything in place (and more) to make sure your needs are met, and should be flexible as one persons needs will be different to the next persons. I just wanted to say that my experience has been the opposite, and that i received what I felt was full backing all they way, from the trainers and the qualified ADI's. What is the pass rate for Part 3?
@GedWilmot
@GedWilmot 13 лет назад
@pronsyn The Part 3 pass rate is currently around 34%.

i did my training with a nationwide school that rhymes with dead also, and i got everything i asked for...extra training, 1-1 with a trainer so i think its a bit unfair to tarnish them with one brush. I passed with the help of the trainer and a qualified ADI from the same company who lived nearby who took me out for hrs on end and did most of the psts with me. i got a 4-6 on my part 3 so i think its unfair to judge them through 1 case.

@Jonboy281284 See that as a positive! At least now that you're aware of the areas you need to work on, you won't go in for your Part 3 and waste a valuable attempt (not to mention the money!). If you feel your training company isn't getting you up to this standard, then seek help from someone better. Feel free to get in touch if you need any help from Claire or myself :-) Good luck with your Part 3!!

@Jonboy281284 That's such a shame - there are many others in exactly the same situation, too. Just a couple of hours 1-to-1 work with a good trainer will make a great difference to you, I'm sure. I will put the feelers out for a good trainer in your area and let you know if I find anyone suitable :-)

@Jonboy281284 I'm going to stick my neck out here... As you have found Jon, the quality of training in general across the UK is poor. There are some trainers and companies on the ORDIT register that should not be on it, and this is something the DSA need to address urgently. But there are some excellent trainers out there too! For example, Claire and I have had a 70% 1st time pass rate this year, and 100% of our own students (those who complete all parts) qualify. Don't lose faith! ;-)

Apart from the Tesco carrier bag of snacks on the back seat, you mean? :-)
@GedWilmot

@Jonboy281284 Hmmm an all-too-common story, I'm afraid. Please don't take your test if you are not ready - put it back until you feel confident. I meet so many people on their last attempt (after poor training) who only wish that they hadn't wasted the first attempt. The pressure is quite high on your last go, as you can imagine, so I would strongly advise you seek professional help before taking your test. Feel free to give me a call if you want a chat - 01457 810195.
