Original video description:
Grade 6 ADI Trainer, Ged Wilmot, gives a demonstration of how to conduct a Part 3, Phase 1 session on the Left Reverse. Claire Wilmot portrays the learner driver. Traditional instruction is predominantly used throughout, which is currently the preferred style for the Part 3 examination. More 'pure' coaching videos will be made available at a later date for ADI's wishing to provide a more natural, client-centred style of learning.

Hi! Thanks for your great comment. I personally believe that some faults on Part 3 can be corrected on the move (even serious ones), but it all depends on the fault committed and the traffic/road situation ahead. I think it's important to be flexible rather than to have one specific rule. With the 'hand shuffling', it could be that you didn't analyse the fault to the examiner's satisfaction (correctly establishing the root cause and checked the pupil was aware of the disadvantages)...

Only if necessary, e.g. if waiting for pedestrians to cross behind the vehicle, or if pausing whilst reversing uphill.

great video, shows exactly what you actually have to do in order to pass part 3. you just have to remember to pull the se over as soon as you see a serious fault e.g late indicators, dont try to fix it on the move as i did, cos he kept doing it!! and when u do stop, do your wat, why and how core comps.the se wasnt as bad as i thought he would be,but he did keep doing that hand shuffling buisness and i couldnt stop him, do u think thats the way he drove normally?

Or it could have been that you didn't offer enough (early) remedial action to correct the fault on the next occasion, i.e. give a quick reminder about using larger movements of the wheel at the next steering opportunity. Or yes, it could have been the "pupil's" style, and depending upon it's severity, may not have had any impact on his/her ability to negotiate corners safely :-)
