Very impressive setup. Did get the chance to have a look inside the 'Pod' but never got the chance to try it as a pilot had it set up for a flight. Seems very up-to-date scenery - what software is used? Thanks for sharing, Alan.
The part 3 videos on their website is exceptional brilliant. I would suggest going on their website to any PDI, what I do is watch the relevant PSTs before a training session to get the most out of my session. Such a brilliant training tool. Matthew PDI
+andrew downing You're very welcome, Andrew - glad you're finding them useful! How did the left reverse go on today's training session? In case you didn't know, there are videos for ALL the preset tests available on our website! www.activedrivingsolutions.com :)
Hi guys Love your videos..... So informative... I'm currently training for the part 3 test! Was wondering if you could do a video for every phase 1 By watching your videos; it has built up my confidence and I know what is required not only for part 3 test but when teaching a real life student!! Thanks a million x

Lol just a small thing that made me chuckle at the start Clare says that she has gone now and that you can call her Louise, yet when you go in role you call her Clare again must be hard to call your wife by a different name :-) Great videos though really been a big help so far
Yes I know! I only noticed it after uploading (hence the annotation to explain that it won't matter if you call the examiner by a different name). Ah well - just goes to prove we're not perfect! :D

Claire 'had' nice arms?! She wanted me to thank you for your comment, and to let you know that she still has her arms (fully intact), and they're still nice.
Claire is role-playing a pupil. During the final examination to become a driving instructor, the examiner will role play a pupil in the same way. That is the way the test is conducted :-)
Hi Razia - I am unsure what is causing your audio problem on the videos. We do have videos for ALL the pre-set tests on our website, yes. I can't post a link here in the comments as RU-vid won't allow it, but it is at the bottom of the video. Once on our site, click 'ADI Part 3 Videos' on the left navigation menu and you will find them all there. Hope that helps!
Hi Uli, just seen your comment on our video, so apologies for not replying sooner! Thanks for your kind compliments on our videos, we are delighted you are finding them so useful. How did you get on with your test? I hope you passed!

Hi Ged and Claire, i'm currently in the process of booking my ADI part 3,and can i just say that by watching your videos it has put me much more at ease, and you're role play skills are excellent......keep up the good work.....wish me luck!
I am sorry for not replying earlier - RU-vid comments appear so frequently that I find it difficult to follow every one up! By now you'll probably be eligible to become an ADI anyway, but for anyone else reading this comment): You need have held a full UK or EA/EEA driving licence for at least four out of the past six years prior to entering the Register after qualifying. But you can start training up to around 4-6 months BEFORE that time as it will take around 4-6 months to qualify.
Congratulations Peter - great advice about the life lines. Most examiners are very generous with them, but if misread by the PDI they can seriously backfire! One amusing experience I observed from one of my trainees was on Phase 2 - she was over-instructing, so the examiner commented "you do a lot of talking don't you? My other instructor doesn't help me as much as this". She totally misread the hint and replied, "oh, thanks very much!" and continued to over-instruct. Doh! :-O
I understand the dilema, on my Part 3, the examiner suggested, quite stongly, that the left shoulder blind spot check was overkill. Was I confused? you bet!. Always teach it though.
Love your videos and they helped me on my part 3 a few years back thanks. 1st gear corners can often be too tight for the clutch to be up, (ie the car needs to be slower that first gear will allow) as it can pull the car around the corner. On a tight street turning, unless clutch is down or slipped your control is compromised. Your thoughts?
...it is unnecessary in assessing whether a PDI can teach. Pupils 'from hell' are few and far between - if you do your job correctly and establish rapport from the start, you will quickly gain their respect. There is always the exception, of course! My recommendation would be for you to speak to your trainer about how you are feeling and if he is as good as others say, he should welcome your feedback and hopefully build your confidence first before building in more 'difficult' scenarios :-)
If I'm honest, for many ADI Trainers this is completely normal. However, I don't believe that it's helpful or motivational to act in such a way, especially in the early stages of training. Claire and I would usually introduce more 'difficult' roles only once a PDI has grown in confidence and has developed strategies for coping with such situations (following our demonstration). Over the years, most DSA examiners have dropped the 'pupil from hell' role play, as they recognise that...
There are many methods that could be used to teach a learner driver the left reverse exercise, so feel free to use whichever works best for you in terms of time and ease :-)
