Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 8: How Fast Is It?

In this video I look at how fast the Adidas Takumi Sen 8’s go
First I do a brief recap of their construction and intended use
Then I assess their performance by running some hard 1km gutbusters in the Park in each them
Finally I will decide how fast they can go
I made this video because I want to see if the Takumi Sen 8 is really a fast shoe over shorter distances. I made a review of the shoe a few weeks ago. There was a problem with that particular shoe so I had to return them
I thought I could just forget about testing them, but that knawed away at me so I bit the bullet and got a second pair in a new colourway which I am very partial to. In this video I see if the Takumi Sen 8 is a faster shoe over shorter distances than my most tested marathon shoe, the Nike Alphafly.

First! You're making a good case for the Takumi - I may need to try it out my first Adidas running shoe. This is despite my loyalty to the Alphafly - which is spongy - but once it gets rolling it's a wonderful running highways cruiser.

I am going to try and do some 5k races in them...I think if you like the Alphafly and they suit your running style you will probably go faster in them...still trying to get a Sreakfly to test, but no joy!

Most interesting comparison test video review. Thanks much!!! With 2nd test, you still like/happy with Metaspeed Sky in comparison to Takumi Sen 8? PS: Will you test Saucony Endo Pro Plus?

I am still very happy with the Metapeed Sky...if I was trying to run a PB over any distance I would take them first. I am going to do a 5k Parkrun race in the Takumi Sen 8 tomorrow and follow it up possibly next week with the Alphafly and at some stage the Metaspeed Sky. Saucony are bringing out a revised Endorphin range this year and I hope to test one...I very nearly bought an Endorphin Pro Plus last year...but was flying off to Chicago and would not be home for delivery...and when I got back they were sold out...

@@OldManRunner Goodluck on the race in the park. Very interesting plans. Saucony start to sell Pro-plus again. Thanks much!!!

Glad the Sen 8 is carrying you to glory! I also like the Nike StreakFly, which is easier to lace but less stable. Thank you for your review!

@@TrailrunnerTroy I have been trying to get a Streakfly every day for a month...the site keeps saying coming soon...then out of the blue a size 9 and a size 5.5 appeared and were gone in an instant...now for a 5k Parkrun in the Takumi Sen 8...Some glory would be nice...!

@@rajkumarraosinhji1397 picked up the Pro Plus last Fall on its first limited release. If you like the original Endorphin Pro, the Plus is a wee bit lighter but without a heel counter. The lack of a heel counter makes it a little less desirable for longer runs of, say, 15 miles or more by comparison to, say, the Endorphin Speed (which I have used in a 50 K road race). In sum, the Pro Plus is a great half marathon or below road racer if you like the Saucony Speedroll feel. Personally I don’t love the Speedroll on any of their shoes and prefer the Nike VaporFly ride. But it’s a matter of taste. Happy roads and trails!

Great review. Which of the two is more comfortable for wider feet? Which gives better shock absorption to the knee? I run in the Vomero (actually bought for walking) and found them fast because the airbag is VERY hard but I had knee pain for 2 days after the run. So being not so young I find that high stack / stiff midsole (Craft) causes me groin pain after the run.. High drop hard midfoot (Vomero) brings knee pain... Invincible which you like I find like running on a trampoline that propel you uncontrolled / unstable. I am to slow for them I think. .... Can't run in them.. The only shoe I can use for long slow runs up to sprints without any pain is the New Balance RC Elite V2. Second in line is the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite and last my favourite shoe (but not pain free) Endorphin Speed 2.

The Alphafly is wider and has more foam. It is definitely the better shock absorber. I wonder if the Nike React Infinity Run 3 would suit you. I have not run in it but the foam is firmer than in the Invincible run flyknit and it does not have a footpot buried in it. On are about to release the Cloudmonster which I am hoping to review. I imagine it is on the firm side but may offer good absorption...

What was the upshot regarding the pair of Sen 8's you returned. Was it considered a manufacturing fault on the piece of outsole that went awol. Made me slightly nervous as I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago at good price, £136 Edit. Just watched your returns policy video. Pretty poor regarding Adidas, let's hope they hold up.
@OldManRunner

Yes. They accepted the manufacturing fault immediately and without any quibble. They put the money back into my account about a week after I made the video and sent the shoe back. I think it was an isolated fault. If anything goes wrong with the new pair I will update...well done on getting the discount...

They were really good. One of my fastest times… going to try and lower my PB in the new year … will be trying various fast shoes, including these
